Abstract

The seasonal pattern of tourist arrivals is an important element that must be observed in making policies in the field of tourism marketing. By using the method of calculation, the Seasonality Ratio, Gini Coefficients, and Seasonality Index, this study aims to identify seasonal patterns of foreign tourist arrivals to Bali during the past 5 years. This study shows that: First, foreign tourists’ arrivals to Bali showed insignificant levels of variation and an equation of seasonal variations patterns is found in 2015, 2016, and 2019. Second, foreign tourist arrivals to Bali had a distribution per month that is relatively evenly distributed, with low seasonal rates, or the difference between monthly arrivals has an insignificant difference in value. Third, peak season of foreign tourists’ arrivals to Bali was concentrated in July with a drastic increase from the previous month and accompanied by a slowing decline towards the off-peak season. So, it is necessary to do an appropriate marketing and resource allocation strategies to optimize each seasonal phase.

Abstract

The spread of Covid-19 has led to a global problem in all aspects of life, including in the tourism sector that directly affects the hotel industry. Asia as a continent with many countries that rely most of their revenue on tourism suffers a severe blow. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impacts of the novel Covid-19 on the hotel industry in Asian countries. Through a descriptive qualitative method, the researchers collected data from journals, research reports, books, government documents, articles, and websites. In analyzing the data, the researchers make a comparison between the Asian continent and other continents such as Europe, America, Africa, and Australia by focusing on the hotel occupancy in those continents. The result shows that the rate of hotel occupancy in Asia dropped by 57% and 63,4 million employees lose their jobs. This condition is mainly caused by the travel ban regulation that is followed by the temporary closure of tourist destinations. The hotel industry in Asia has lost up to US$ 1.041 million due to massive booking cancellations, and employees in this industry are even more severely affected as they have no income to support their life.

Abstract

Nowadays the development of tourism in an area will bring a positive impact on the local society. However, if the community is not ready to accept development and is not ready to manage its property, it will have a negative impact. Various problems will arise with the existence of mass tourism which makes it difficult or even detrimental to the community. Therefore, this study will discuss the evaluation of the impact tourism development in Tebing Breksi using the concept of community-based tourism (CBT). CBT is a development strategy that uses tourism as a tool to strengthen local communities that are managed by, from, and for the community, as well as considering aspects of sustainability to improve people’s welfare. The research method used is qualitative using a case study approach. The data used is sourced from primary data and secondary data. Primary data obtained by interviewing speakers who are considered competent in their fields and following the research topic. Secondary data were obtained from previous studies, documentation, a note, and an activity report related to Tebing Breksi. Evaluation of CBT principles at Tebing Breksi is seen based on five aspects, that is (i) Economic principles (ii) Social principles (iii) Cultural principles (iv) Environmental principles (v) Political principles, along with indicators. The result of the analysis shows that the principles of CBT applied at Tebing Breksi as a whole have shown success even though some of the indicators of the CBT principle need to be optimized again, while the positive impact obtained by the community with the presence of this CBT is increased economic income, improved quality of life, concern for waste management and mutual respect between cultures. Also, the success of CBT cannot be separated from the active role of community and government support.

Abstract

Regional autonomy brings consequences for each region to take care of and explore its potentials. Moreover, the region is given options to manage the tourism sector which is potential to optimize the development of the district. The composition of tourism in Indonesia consists of regional up to national levels by concerning the diversities, uniqueness, and peculiarities of its culture and nature. Consequently, as mentioned in Act No. 10 of the year 2009 concerning tourism of article 8 mentioned that tourism development is conducted based on the master plan for tourism development is an integral part of the national long-term development plan. Therefore, the planning duration of RIPPARPROV and RIPPARKAB/KOTA also adjusts to the period of the Regency/city long-term development plan which is the period is same as the national long-term development plan (RPJP). However, the implementation of tourism law is not optimal due to some of the main tourism plans having disharmony on the scale of its validity periods such as RIPPAR-Prov East Java and Central Java, or RIPPAR-Kota Surakarta and Balikpapan. Through the Yuridis-normative research method and the approach of statutory and conceptual regulations, researchers focus on analyzing the consequences of the disharmony of the main tourism plan base on 3 (three) theories of law which are synchronization theory, harmonization theory, and legal development theory.
