Abstract

The research was conducted in July to August 2017 at Tanah Besih Estate PT. Socfindo. The method used Factorial Design with the treatment age of plant and tapping time. The results of this research show that the treatment effected to latex yield, latex volume, latex drops frequency, lump and scrub weight which are contained on W1 and tapping time was at 04.00 a.m.. Age of plant treatment effected to the latex yield, latex volume, latex drop frequency, lump weight and scrub weight, which are contained on the U1 at the age of 13 years old plants. Interactions treatment between tapping time and age of plant had no effect to the real production of Latex.

Abstract

The productivity of oil palm plants is influenced by genetic factor planting materials, soil, climate, cultivation and plant maintenance. Nursery is the first step to prepare the prime plant material. In the implementation of the nursery, fertilization is one important maintenance factor and should be done with reference to 4T (Exactly Types, Dosage, Time and Method). Loss of fertilizer is an important thing to be controlled. This research is a conservation action by packing fertilizer in sachet bag and conservation treatment. The research was conducted in August 2016- June 2017 at STIPAP. The study used 2x2 Factorial Design with the first Factor of Broadcast System, Sachet and the second factor was with and without conservation. The best treatment was SK1 Sachet application and conservation increased leaf number 14,44 (6%), girth 18,60 cm (14%) and chlorophyll 63,16 (20%).

Abstract

This research was conducted on September 2017 – March 2018, in the greenhouse and laboratory of STIPAP Medan. This study used a factorial randomized block design with three repetitions, with total sample was 27 samples. Parameters observed were plant height, stem base diameter, leaf number, leaf area, root number, root length, root dry weight, shoot dry weight, root volume and number of stomata. The data obtained were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Duncan's advanced test of 5%. The results showed that the di erence in the provision of water in the Main Nursery nursery a ected to the growth of oil palm seedlings significantly a ected plant height, canopy dry weight, leaf chlorophyll and root volume except stem diameter, leaf number, leaf area, number of roots, root length, weight dry root and number of stomata. Oil palm is a plant that has shallow roots (root fibers), so it is easy to experience drought stress. Water availability is one of the main limiting factors for the growth and production of oil palm plants. In the vegetative phase lack of water availability can cause damage to plant tissue, while in the generative phase can reduce the production of oil palm plants.

Abstract

The use of leaf color chart is one way to analyze fertilizer needs. This tool is suitable to optimize the delivery of N, P, and K elements to oil palm. The use of visual technology in the form of image processing can facilitate in analyzing an object without directly related to the object being observed. The image of oil palm through image processing can be analyzed with the greenishness of the leaves so as to predict the fertility of oil palms.

Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) is one of important plantations in the Indonesia role economy. Oil palm can be attacked by various pests or diseases from the nursery. One of the important pests is Oryctes rhinoceros. Some control methods are manually, mechanically, chemically and biologically which are environmentally friendly. One of the biological controls of the Oryctes larvae is with Aspergillus sp. This research was conducted at STIPAP Medan in June - July 2017. Treatment of Aspergillus A0, A1, A2, A3, and A4 bioinsecticides, concentrations of 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 g / l. This study aims to determine the speed of mortality of larvae and concentration of Aspergillus effective. From the results of this study it can be concluded that mortality of O. rhinoceros larvae seen on day 18 after application of Aspergillus sp at the treatment A4 with dose 40 gram Aspergillus sp and Aspergillus sp. effective for controlling the O. rhinoceros larvae with mortality average above 90%.

Abstract

ABSTRACT White root disease (WRD) is a very harmful disease in rubber planting material preparation. The treatment method for infected budded stump has not been determined; therefore, the infected stump is usually directly eradicated through burning. This research aimed to understand the effect of the sulfuric compound to WRD rate and budded stump growth in polybag nursery. The research was arranged based on Completely Randomized Design (CRD) non-factorial with chemical concentration treatment using four levels i.e. 0 g/l (control), 2 g/l, 4 g/l, 6 g/l, dan 8 g/l that was carried out at Sungei Putih Research Center Greenhouse in Galang, Deli Serdang. The trial result indicated that the submersion of infected budded stump level two into sulfuric solution up to the concentration of 8 g/l for 15 minutes did not decrease WRD rate. The shoots growth showed was not significantly different than without submersion. The submersion method is seemed not proper to treat WRD on the budded stump since it only can be conducted once at the beginning of the stump planting into the polybag. Therefore, research on the effect of sulfur for WRD treatment on the budded stump has to be carried out variously from the dosage as well as application method viewpoint.

Abstract

Preliminary trail using food poisoning technique obtained output that 0,2 g/L salicylic acid (SA) inhibited growth of leaf fall disease of rubber tree such as Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, Oidium heveae as well as Corynespora cassiicola.The SA inhibited growth of the third leaf fall desease more than 85% in in vitro. The next observation aimed to knowing the effect of SA in growth inhibitionof leaf desease onrubber tree in polybeg. Three level of SA concentration were spraied to the rubber tree young leaf after wo days inoculated with C. gloeosporioides spores. The optimal concentration was used for observation the response of rubber clones PB 260, IRR 122 and IRR 104 to C. gleiosporoides before and after SA spraying. The SA 0,5 g/L decreased the infection intensity of C. gloeosporioides via inducing of the systemic aquired resistance(SAR).There were variation of the infection intensity in the SA treated rubber clones to C. gloeosporioides between 10% to 18%.

Abstract

Oryctes rhinoceros is an important pest of oil palm that cause considerable losses and attack oil palm plants across Indonesia. The damage of beetle attacks can occur in immature plants, as well as the mature plants. The losses caused by these beetles is quite large because the beetles bore into the crown which can e ect to the broken stem. The research was conducted in Afdeling II Kebun Adolina PT. Perusahaan Nusantara IV, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra Province on 11 – 27 August 2017. Research method used by traps the beetle using pheromone against the lengthof stick of the trap with four repetitions that are placed in immature plants. The conclusion from this research that the 2 meters of stick ferotrap length traps more Oryctes rhinoceros compared to 4 meters of stick ferotrap length. The large number of pheromones in traps do not a ect the interest of Oryctes rhinoceros.

Abstract

Oil palm nursery is a starting point in greatly determines for the success of planting in the field, while superior seeds are a large capital of the company to achieve high productivity and quality of palm oil. To get a really good, healthy, and uniform seed, strict sorting must be done. The study was conducted at the STIPAP Medan. The study period was 4 months, from April to August 2018. The study used Non Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 3 treatments and six replications, P1: Standard Fertilizer / Recommended PPKS, P2: Fertilizer Control Release Fertilizer (CRF) 1x application dose of 50 g / seed, P3: Fertilizer Control Release Fertilizer (CRF) 2x application, dose / application 50 g / seed. Parameter testing is compiled on the variance list with a level of 5% and 1% for the whole treatment. The best treatment found in P3 can increase plant height 59.29 cm (18%), stem circumference 15.88 cm (9%), leaf number 12.83 strands (7%), wet weight 188.56 gr (2%) and dry weight 52.45 gr (8%) were compared to the growth of IOPRI/PPKS Medan standard seedlings.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the total microbes, organic matter and soil respiration on application land and without the application of empty fruit bunches. The research was conducted at Begerpang, PT. London Sumatera as the location for taking soil samples, the soil is analyzed in the Soil Biology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, USU and the Soil and Fertilizer Laboratory, STIP-AP which runs from May to September 2018. The study used Factorial Randomized Block Design, consisting of two factors. Factor 1: sampling area, Factor depth of sampling from ground level. The results showed the average microbial total on the application of oil palm empty fruit bunches 17,05 CFU / ml, organic matter 7,25% and soil respiration 3,18 mg CO2 while on land without the application of oil palm empty bunches the total microbial 3,55 CFU / ml, organic matter 5,07% and soil respiration 2,75 mg CO2. The average total microbes, organic matter and soil respiration is highest at a depth of 0-10 cm. Total microbes are positively correlated with organic matter and soil respiration, the correlation coe cient between total microbes and organic matter is 0.977, between total microbes and soil respiration 0.868 .
