Abstract

This study focuses on the improvement of student engagement and learning satisfaction in synchronous hybrid learning spaces, which combine traditional on-site and online learning. While previous research has explored student engagement and learning satisfaction in on-site and online learning environments separately, there is a lack of literature investigating these factors in the context of synchronous hybrid learning. This study aims to fill this gap by examining the relationship between student engagements and learning satisfaction in synchronous hybrid learning spaces. A cross-sectional method was used to collect quantitative data from 169 students at a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution in Kuching, Sarawak. The study findings indicate that student engagement dimensions, including emotional, cognitive, and behavioral aspects, are predictive of learning satisfaction in both traditional on-site and online settings, as well as in synchronous hybrid learning spaces. These results have practical implications for the design and implementation of synchronous hybrid learning, providing valuable insights for educational practice and policy. By understanding and leveraging student engagement, educators and policymakers can enhance the effectiveness and value of synchronous hybrid learning environments.

Abstract

Existing studies on Yorùbá syntax have shown that there are controversies among scholars on the motivation for DP movement in ergative construction in the language. Scholars have suggested theta theory and pragmatics as the explanation, while others lay credence to case or extended project principle. None of the existing works have address DP movement in ergative construction in Yorùbá with insight of the Minimalist Program. This present research dwells on Chomsky (1995, 1998 2000 &2001) Minimalist Program with Yorùbá internal language evidence to explain DP movement in the ergative construction. Findings in study show that the only DP in ergative construction performs dual functions. It is the subject based on the syntactic position and morphological marking, while it also functions as object because it bears theme theta role.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the sadness that led to the trauma of the main characters Ma and Jack in the Room novel by Emma Donoghue. This research aims to understand and find out what is being experienced by Ma in the Room novel by Emma Donoghue. This research aims to illustrate the effect of economic situation on individual's thoughts, lives, norms and values, and to show how this writer, has rendered the personality development in his contemporary society. The significance of the study lies in the fact that most of Emma Donoghue`s novel, mostly the earlier ones, have similar themes but the researcher is going to find personality development in his novel namely, In Room by finding Inferiority Complex, Striving for Success or Superiority, freedom of choice, conscious and unconscious for individualization Process, and social interest issues in the light of Adlerian personality development theory. The researcher tries to highlights how the characters struggle in society and consciously or unconsciously they are trying to discover self.  The best advantage point for understanding the behavior of an individual is from the internal frame of reference from the individual him- or herself. The striving for significance is a movement toward fulfillment of the goal to achieve unique identity and to belong. Adler believed that each person strove for self-improvement having an innate desire to become better, to move forward and onward, to become superior. Adler did not feel that striving for perfection and superiority was a striving for superiority or perfection over others, but rather that it was a movement directed at self-improvement and greater competency. Thus, Room as a literary text represents the psychological state of the characters. Symbols and Characters can be analyzed according to psychoanalytic theory of Alfred Adler.
