Abstract

This paper will parse and explain the role of media in the Election of the Governor of South Sumatra in 2018. The media to be examined is the local media namely the Harian Sumatera Ekspres (Sumeks). Harian Sumeks is one of the media that dominates readers in south sumtra province. With such a position, of course, Sumeks has influence in building opinions in society. The theory used in this study is the framing theory of Zhongdan Pan and Gerald M.Kosicki models, This theory in analyzing data operationalizes the four structural dimensions of news teks as a framing device, namely syntax, script, thematic, and rhetorical. This research is a qualitative study using documents as the main data source. The results of this study indicate that Sumeks described the four participants of the South Sumtra Governor Election in 2018 as well. If at first galnce, it will be difficult to find out which candidate pairs are more inclined. However, when using framing theory, it can be seen that Sumeks tries to emphasize Dodi-Giri more than other pairs. In addition, it can be concluded that the way Sumeks displays each candidate get a good response from each candidate team because the framing that is built seems to favor all candidates so that this impacts on the number of incoming advertisements

Abstract

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict which is often found to continue for more than 7 decades is inseparable from the root of the problem itself, namely; designation of the Palestinian territories as a national home for the Jews which would later lead to Israeli independence in 1948. Referring to the Balfour Declaration 1917 under the British decision, the massive migration of Jews from Europe to Palestine was inseparable from the benefits that were gained by Western hegemonies in the West. the winner of the war at the time. This can be studied using a realism perspective which views the state as a rational actor with all its decisions under the national interest. Using the literature review method, this article tries to answer whether the tension that occurs in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is based solely on differences in religious identity between the two? Or are there interests of several parties that do not appear on the surface? Why can the annexation case in the formation of an Israeli state that violates international law continue without strict sanctions? The economic and political motivated interests of the West and the connection of Zionism in the founding of the state of Israel will be examined as concrete evidence. This article is expected to be useful as a reference for later literature for similar research.

Until now, when the Banyuasin District Government put pressure on the community, immediately the Tegal Binangun community took the fight. This conflict has not found a solution because it is still being resolved by the Government of South Sumatra Province. In this study it was found that the social movement of the Tegal Binangun community was formed to carry out resistance to the Banyuasin District Government's unilateral recognition of the Tegal Binangun area.

Abstract

Hamas and Fatah are the two dominant Palestinian political parties that have the same goal of freeing Palestinians from Israeli occupation. But there are ideological differences between Hamas and Fatah, Fatah with secular nationalist ideology while Hamas with Islamic ideology. The difference in ideology is considered to be the cause of the lack of cooperation between the two to free Palestine from Israeli occupation. This paper seeks to answer the question of why Hamas and Fatah did not unite to free Palestine from Israeli occupation when both have the same goal, whether differences in ideology are the main obstacle for Hamas and Fatah not to unite to liberate Palestine. In this paper the authors use the theory of conflict resolution and descriptive methods. The results of this study indicate that ideology is indeed one of the reasons Hamas and Fatah are not cooperating, because these two ideologies are in conflict with each other, but the historical conflict factor between Hamas's predecessors, the Muslim Brotherhood and Fatah has affected the inability of Hamas and Fatah to cooperate in efforts to liberate Palestine because differences of opinion in addressing resistance to Israel, then coupled with the disappointment of Hamas against Fatah which was hit by the issue of corruption and abuse of power, and Hamas considers Fatah to recognize the existence of Israel after signing the Oslo Declaration. Furthermore, it is hoped that this article can be used as a reference and comparison material for similar research.
