Abstract

The fraction count operation is one of the problems often faced by students on the topic of fraction numbers. Even though the material is important and is often applied, there are still many students who make mistakes. The errors most often experienced by students are procedural errors. To solve this problem, a solution is given to the application of the "mathematical recipe" method. In this mathematical recipe method, students are given a clear and attractive format to organize important thoughts and information. As for the steps in using mathematical recipes, namely: (1) choosing the right mathematical procedure, (2) giving an example of how to use math recipe cards, (3) giving math recipe cards that are empty or half filled, and (4) ensuring participants students save math recipe cards for reference at a later date.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the application of the inquiry method in science learning at SDN Tomini. This research is pre-experimental study with one group pretest-postest design. Subjects of this research were 23 students of fifth grade SDN Tomini. Data collection was carried out through pretest and posttest. The gain based on the result of data analysis were 0,598. It means that there is improvement on the students learning outcomes after learning science with the inquiry method in medium category. The One Sample T-Test obtained the t value of 6,634 and Sig. (2-tailed) 0,000. This value indicates that the hypothesis H1 is accepted. It means that the average value of students after learning science by inquiry method is higher than minimum completeness criteria.

Abstract

Communication skills are important for every human being. Communication in this study focused on the written communication skills of students in solving mixed fraction questions. This quantitative descriptive research was conducted at SMPN 1 Lampasio, Tolitoli Regency, Central Sulawesi with the object of research as many as 15 grade VII students in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 school year. The data collection technique used was the test method to obtain data on the written communication skills of mixed fraction material. Based on the results of the study, it shows that 7% of the 15 research objects have written communication skills, including in the low ability category, 86% in the medium ability category, and 7% in the high ability category. The characteristics of the test results show that students who have written communication skills in the low category generally only remember the material or memorize but are weak in the aspect of understanding the material. Meanwhile, students who have written communication skills in the medium category show that the stages are already able to write answers close to perfect where the direction of the answer structure and solving strategies used is visible, but there are still errors in the accuracy and correctness of the answers. And for students who have written communication skills in the high category show the ability to use mathematical language, the solving strategies used, the accuracy and correctness of answers, and the answer structure is perfect

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to identify students' difficulties in solving math problems in the form of story problems at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al-Khairaat Pakuli. This study used a qualitative ethnographic design approach. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 school year. The research subjects consisted of two students from MTs Al-Khairaat Pakuli, namely S1 and S2. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study state that (1) subject S1 and S2 can identify and write down what is asked and what is known, (2) subject S1 and S2are also able to convert sentences into mathematical models and (3) subject S1 and S2 can use formulas appropriately by eliminating and substituting what is known in the formula. Based on research conducted by researchers, it can be concluded that the ability of MTs students. Al-Khairaat Pakuli in solving problems related to everyday life in the form of story problems The Two Variable Linear Equation System has reached the maximum level through 2 tests, the two students can understand and solve story problems accurately and consistently.

Abstract

The implementation of practicum in science learning in schools has also experienced limitations due to the pandemic, therefore science teachers must innovate to create something breakthrough so that practicum can continue to be carried out to foster scientific attitudes in students. This study aims to analyze the increase in scientific attitudes of students in project-based independent practicum. This research was conducted at SMPN 4 Sojol using a quasi experiment method with one experimental class. Data collection was carried out by pretest, posttest using a scientific attitude questionnaire, at the implementation stage of project-based practicum learning through three stages, namely planning, implementing and evaluating using qualitative data in the form of observation. The results of observations in the planning, implementation and evaluation stages of students' scientific attitudes showed a positive trend. Meanwhile, the implementation of practicum which was carried out independently based on the project showed an increase in the N-Gain value from the scientific attitude questionnaire at the pretest and posttest. The mean value of N-Gain for curiosity was 0.71 or included in the "High" category, for creative thinking at 0.59 in the "Medium" category. The discovery and creativity attitude of 0.70 were in the "High" category for the persistence attitude of 0.79 in the "High" category and the sensitive attitude to the surrounding environment obtained the highest N-Gain value, namely 0.80 in the "High" category.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the mathematics problem solving profile of grade IX junior high school students on circle material. Disclosure of the problem-solving profile is based on the problem-solving steps of the pattern, namely: (a) understanding the problem; (b) conducting the test by giving questions with circle material and (c) checking the results of the work that has been made. This research uses qualitative research with a qualitative descriptive approach. This research was conducted online with the subject of grade IX students of SMP Negeri 13 Palu in 2020. The process of determining the subject in this study was by taking students with low, medium and high abilities. The techniques used to obtain data in this study were written tests, in-depth interview techniques and observation techniques. The results of the study state that (1) the S1 comprehension profile is to repeat the reading of the questions repeatedly in order to understand what is being asked in the questions and to help recall the formula. (2) Profile of S2 understanding by repeating the reading of the questions less than S1 so that you can understand what is being asked in the question and try to remember the formula for solving the problem again. (3) The S3 comprehension profile is reading the questions at least from S1 and S2 until you understand what is being asked in the questions. (4) In solving the questions, S1 does the first question then the second problem. When answering questions, S1 answers all questions without asking many questions so that they are more concentrated and focused in order to solve the questions given by the researcher according to their previous understanding. (5) In solving the problem, working on the first question then the second question and when answering the question, S2 answers by asking a little to make sure he is. (6) In solving the questions, S3 works on the first problem then the second problem. (7) Profile checking back answers, S1 re-checks repeatedly to convince himself with the answer. (8) Profile of checking back answers, S2 re-checks by reading the questions again and then the answers and convincing himself. (9) Re-checking profile answers, S3 performs re-examination by repeating reading and understanding the questions then the formula and convincing themselves and the researcher with the answers.
