Abstract

As a result of the increased incidence of DM, complications from diabetes mellitus can occur, one of which can cause disability in the feet. It is important to provide health education to DM patients regarding leg movements to help prevent DM complications. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education about diabetes exercise on the knowledge of type 2 diabetes patients about preventing diabetic foot injuries. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test-post-test approach. The study population consisted of patients diagnosed with type 2 DM and a sample of 17 people. Data was collected using a DM patient knowledge questionnaire about preventing diabetic foot wounds. The data analysis used was t-test analysis (paired sample t-test). Univariate analysis showed low knowledge before the intervention (47.1%) and high knowledge after the intervention (47.1%). Bivariate pair sample T-test analysis showed that health education had an effect on knowledge of DM patients (p=0.000). Therefore, it is hoped that health workers can continue to make modifications in providing health education to prevent diabetes mellitus that can be understood and practiced by patients and their families.

Abstract

As lifestyle changes following the era of globalization, cases of hypertension continue to increase. Hypertension is a condition when the systolic blood pressure is more than 120 mmHg and the diastolic pressure is more than 80 mmHg. This study aims to determine the relationship between lifestyle and the incidence of hypertension. The research design is cross sectional. The population and sample in this study were hypertension sufferers in the working area of the Masmambang Health Center, a total of 135 people were taken by purposive sampling using the proportion estimation formula with a degree of deviation of 10% and a total of 58 samples were obtained. The results of the research on smoking habits obtained a p value <α where the value of p = 0.005 means that there is a significant relationship between smoking habits and the incidence of hypertension. eating habits obtained p value <α where the value of p = 0.005 means there is a significant relationship between eating habits and the incidence of hypertension. Sports habits and physical activity obtained a p value <α where the value of p = 0.000 means that there is a significant relationship between smoking habits and the incidence of hypertension. The habit of drinking coffee has a p value > α where the value of p = 0.673 means that there is no significant relationship between smoking habits and the incidence of hypertension. It is advisable for further research to add other variables such as family economic status and level of knowledge of the disease so that the causes of hypertension in the community can be known more broadly.

Abstract

The incidence of syncope in the world is estimated at around 12 million cases each year and the incidence of injuries according to research conducted in America is 20.4 cases. First aid is needed to deal with these cases of syncope and minor injuries. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge and skills of adolescent red cross members before and after health education and the effect of health education on the knowledge and skills of adolescent red cross members regarding first aid for syncope and minor injuries. This study uses a type of quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method with one group pre and post test. The sample in this study were 25 people with a total sampling technique. Data collection using questionnaires and observation sheets. The results of the study before being given health education showed knowledge about syncope in the sufficient category and skills in the less category while for minor injuries the level of knowledge was in the good category and skills in the less category. The results of the study after being given health education the level of knowledge and skills of syncope and minor injuries was in the good category. The conclusion of this study is the results of the Wilcoxon test, knowledge and skills pre and post syncope tests show that the p-value≤α, which means there is a significant difference, meaning that there is an influence of health education in providing first aid for syncope. However, the variable knowledge of pre and post minor injuries shows that the p-value> α, which means there is no significant difference, while the skills show that the p-value <α means that there is an effect of health education on first aid skills for minor injuries in SMA Country 9 Bengkulu.
