Abstract

The concept of Information Literacy (IL) may be recognized as a recent concept. Along with the growth of information technology, other literacy such as Digital Literacy emerged as consequences of unfamiliarity with the new-emerging technology. However, Information Literacy is as relevant as the technology itself particularly todays. In an era in which users are flooded with information, and most of information they receive are frequently irrelevant to what they need. In addition, with the abundance of information available on the internet, most of the time the information they get are invalid. The example of fake news circulating on social media as we may have heard many times is because people are not able to evaluate information they receive. This paper explores the way in which the concept of Information Literacy is related to and found on the concept of Tabayun in Islam. The carefulness of evaluating information as the prophet Muhammad used to do when he received information that possibly be disinformation is one of the scopes in Information Literacy. The paper use library research method in discribing the key concepts of Information Literacy and Tabayyun of Information in Islam.the findings of the paper explores ways in which information can be evaluated through saveral methods and theories in order to get better, valid and reliable information

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the effectiveness of the role of librarians as friends in finding library sources for research. The design is a mixed method with the Triangulation Design procedure: Validating Quantitative Data Model. In this model, researchers will collect quantitative data and qualitative data. The next stage is to carry out further analysis by validating the results of quantitative analysis using qualitative results. The population in the study were all lecturers at Lambung Mangkurat University. The sample to determine the effectiveness of the role of librarians in research, namely 100 lecturers. Data were collected by filling out a questionnaire to answer all problem formulations. Also supported by interviewing lecturers to validate the results of filling out a questionnaire about the role of the librarian as a place to find library sources for research. The results of this study is that 54.49% of researchers agree that librarians are effective as friends in finding sources of literature for research. 33.91% of researchers strongly agree. While a small proportion of researchers, namely 0.87% and 0.58%, respectively, stated that they disagreed and disagreed with the statement. The conclusion of this research was the librarian's role has been effective as a friend in finding library resources for research

Abstract

The progress of information and communication technology (ICT) is currently growing rapidly. so that a new media called the Internet was born. The internet has made it easier for people to communicate without knowing the barriers of space and time. Its use is like providing space for people to interact more easily and quickly. This interaction exists both in individuals and groups. This article uses a descriptive qualitative research method with a literature study approach. Based on the results of the study, the use of the internet network can make it easier for libraries to provide services to users or virtual communities which were originally developed face-to-face and then turned into online services during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, it provides convenience for users who need information by providing electronic sources of information for users who need access via the internet. As a support unit in the field of education, libraries during the COVID-19 pandemic must continue to provide good service to their users so that the library remains busy and up to date.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to get an overview and explanation of the various weaknesses of Bengkulu University Library management to improve social services to users by using Ishikawa diagram analysis consisting of Manpower/People, Materials, Methods/Processes, Machines/Equipment, Measurement/Minutes and Market/ User. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method using a qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interview techniques, observation, and documentation studies as well as Focus Group Discussion. The results of the study found that there were still many weaknesses in the administration, processing, circulation services and information technology. This weakness is related to human resources, materials and equipment, machinery/equipment, funds, and time and market (users). The problem that becomes this weakness is the lack of policy from the leadership to place quality human resources in the Bengkulu University Library UPT and provide opportunities for librarians and librarians to take part in internships and various training/workshops related to literature and the lack of budget allocations to repair and improve the quality of human resources, materials/equipment, machines/equipment, and other facilities and infrastructure that are damaged and not in accordance with the times

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the history of library development during the Abbasid dynasty and today contect. The method used in this research is the literature method using several sources of books and journals regarding the development of libraries during the Abbasid dynasty. The results showed that the Abbasid dynasty was a milestone in the history of library progress. One of them is Bait al-Hikmah. This institution is not only an educational institution, but also a library institution. With a historical review, this paper attempts to analyze how the development of the Bait al Hikma library during the Abbasid dynasty. Baitul Hikmah, which was initiated by the caliph Harun al-Rashid, became the center of all scientific activities. With the establishment of Baitul Hikmah, knowledge transfer activities have become more advanced. The Caliph succeeded in recruiting the best writers, historians and scientists. The rapid development of the Baitul Hikmah institution has encouraged this institution to expand its role, not only as a translator institution, but also to include: 1) a center for scientific documentation and information services for the community; 2) centers and forums for scientific development activities; and 3) the center for planning and development activities for the implementation of education.

Abstract

The information retrieval services is a service that interests university library users. There is a significant increase of students completing their thesis using searching services during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to find factors in the utilization of research searching services. It is Using a quantitative approach with exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The study population was 376 students who submitted searching services during the pandemic (March-December 2020),using Slovin formula  get a sample 82 respondents. The primary data source from the questionnaire. The results showed that only one (1) factor for the variable use of research searching services, with seven (7) statements:  P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6, and P7, but, the P8 idea is not continued for analysis because the results of the commonalities test showed that the extraction value is less than 0.5. The conclusion is the factor variables that influence IAIN Purwokerto students to use the searching service have no dimension (there is only one factor) that is factors for completing thesis, indicators of these factors are seven statements: requires an example of a thesis; enriches material for a thesis; knows how to describe the background; looks for the right theory; gets an appropriate research method; knows how I should explain the discussion; and knows how to conclude the results of a research.

Abstract

The Cafe Library is a library designed with coffee shops and books. The cafe library provides more value to visitors and provides a place of comfort for visitors who come so they don't feel bored to the library. The cafe library can be used as an innovative alternative as a place for recreation/educational tourism. One of the functions of the library is a place of recreation for the community. Libraries are required to play an active, innovative and creative role to make the visitors who come can feel happy and satisfied. The layout of the space needs to be considered in order to increase the role of the library as a place of recreation and a vehicle for education for the wider community. To make the library a place of recreation and a vehicle for education for visitors/communities who come, it is necessary to have innovations carried out in the form of activities or services made by library managers. The purpose of this study is to find out the innovations of contemporary activities carried out by the literacy coffee cafe library. This research takes place in the literacy coffee cafe library. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data reduction, data presentation and conclusion/data verification are data analysis of this research. The results of this study show that literacy coffee cafe library managers develop innovative activities for visitors/communities who come. Various innovative activities carried out in the literacy coffee cafe library such as general discussions, political discussions, book reviews, film reviews, and film classes. This research is expected to be a reference for other cafe libraries to develop or improve innovative activities so that visitors/communities feel at home visiting literacy coffee.

Abstract

User service is an important element in the library. Libraries should provide the best services to the users or what is often called as excellent services. The excellent service really needs to be supported by the high performance of the librarian. So the users can feel satisfaction from the service thet get. This study aims to determine the level of the user’s satisfaction to the librarian’s performance in Perpustakaan Daerah Kabupaten Sukabumi and whether users have experienced unfavourable treatment due to the librarian’s attitude. The method used in this research is quantitative survey research. The data was collected was through filling out the google form questionnaire. The sample of this research is 40 users who are a registered users in Perpustakaan Daerah Kabupaten Sukabumi. The result showed that the average score of user’s satisfaction was 3.48 which mean that the users were satisfied with the librarian’s performance. 70% of respondent stated that the librarian had worked professionally and 30% of respondent stated that they have experienced inappropriate treatment from the librarian in the form of unfriendly, indifferent, and slow in providing service.
