Abstract

Antioxidant extracted from soursop leaves with solvent extraction and stirring methods. Ethanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane use as a solvent. Extraction temperature varied of 35 °, 45 °, 55 ° C. The highest yield obtained was 20.2 % from the ethanol extraction at a temperature of 55 °C. Test result of antioxidant activity using DPPH method indicates that the ethyl acetate fraction has the highest activity with% RSA 81.10 followed by ethanol and n-hexane fraction of 69.64% and 27.60%. GCMS analysis indicated that the ethyl acetate fraction has the most antioxidant compounds with 11 compounds followed by ethanol fraction and n-hexane which has 9 and 4 antioxidant compounds with the highest content is the tocopherol group.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the Acid Value (AV) and the Saponification Value (SV) of Wax ester for each reactor in section 110 and compare the values obtained with the PT X standard. The method used is alkalimetry to determine the acid value and acidimetry for the determination of the Saponification Value. The results obtained were Acid Value 0.92 ppm - 1.02 ppm which was following the PT X standard, max 1ppm. The Saponification Value the results obtained were 132 ppm - 142 ppm which was following the PT X standard, min 130 ppm. This indicates that the resulting wax ester can be used for the preparation of fatty alcohols in sections 111-113.

Abstract

The development of the pulp & paper industries in Indonesia increase every year. To support the development of industries in Indonesia in order to be able to compete with similar industries from abroad, it is very important to pay attention to the quality of the paper produced. One way to determine the quality of the pulp & paper is by knowing the chemical composition and area where the wood grows. Important chemical compositions that can support the strength of wood and paper quality include cellulose and lignin. Therefore, this study was conducted to compare the levels of cellulose and lignin contained in Acacia crassicarpa wood from wetlands and Acacia mangium from dry land which is processed into pulp & paper with good quality. Determination of cellulose and lignin content in wood was carried out using the gravimetric method. Test results on Acacia crassicarpa wood species from wetlands obtained cellulose content of 55.48% and lignin 24.13%, while in Acacia mangium wood from dry land obtained cellulose content of 51.46% and lignin 27.66%. According to company standards that levels of cellulose and lignin in two different fields are obtained according to the standards set by the company. So for the results of testing Acacia crassicarpa wood from wetlands have the highest levels of cellulose with low levels of lignin

Abstract

Batu kapur merupakan bahan tambang yang ketersediaannya sangat melimpah di Indonesia terutama daerah Sumatera Barat. Batu kapur disintesis untuk pembuatan filler Precipitate Calcium Carbonat. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan terhadap filler Precipitate Calcium Carbonat dari batu kapur berdasarkan hasil analisis X-RD, FTIR dan SEM-EDX, dapat disimpulkan bahwa senyawa hasil sintesis dari CaO batu kapur adalah Precipitate Calcium Carbonat dengan jenis kristal aragonit dan kalsit. Sementara uji BET menunjukan luas permukaan spesifik filler Precipitate Calcium Carbonat dengan nilai 7,315 m2/g. Permukaan Plastik ramah lingkungan dengan penambahan filler Precipitate Calcium Carbonat dikarakterisasi menggunakan AFM didapatkan nilai Rq 0,43 µm.

Abstract

The development of functional food is increasing. Meatball is one of popular food product that can be developed to become more functional by adding antioxidant. Meatballs are processed products from small round meat. The aim of this study was to obtain the best formula for meat ball production with high antioxidant and also have good organoleptic characteristics. The addition of Moringa leaves, celery,cup leaves panax, and lime leaves to the original formula of meat ball production were used as the treatments in this study. The results indicated that the addition of cup leaves panax could produce the functional meat ball with the highest antioxidant and best organoleptic characteristics among all treatments.

Abstract

Cyanocobalmine is vitamin B12 which is widely used to treat or prevent deficiency (deficiency of vitamins) in various types of preparations. Cyanocobalmine in the 5th edition of Indonesian Pharmacopoeia literature can determine by UV-Vis Spectrophotometric method with water solvent. The purpose of this testing was to determine whether the levels of the active compound Cyanocobalamine from the 3 test parameters. In the description test where the sample tested is the same as the Cyanocobalamine specification, namely, crystal powder is dark red. Hot plate was used to determine drying shrinkage. Shrink drying was 2.25% - 2.75% from the ≤ 12% requirement. The determination of the levels of the active compound of Cyanocobalamine fulfills the requirements, namely 96% - 102.0%. The results of the assay showed that the average level of Cyanocobalamine from 4 samples was 96.02%, which met the standards set by the Pharmacopeia. Indonesia Edition V as a requirement for determining the levels of the active compound Cyanocobalamine.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with the largest mangrove forests in the world. Indonesia also has various types of mangrove plants, one of which is pedada fruit (Sonneratia caseolaris). Pedada fruit is one type of mangrove whose fruit can be eaten. This fruit has good nutritional content and a source of vitamins A, B and C that are needed by the body. In addition, pedada fruit also contains phytochemical compounds that are closely related to antioxidant activity. With natural resources and abundant availability and nutrient content, pedada fruit is recommended to be used as processed food in order to increase food diversification. Pedada fruit has been processed into food processed products such as dodol, syrup, flour, ice cream, hard candy flavor, and jam. This study aims to study the characteristics of pedada fruit and its processed products into jam. Pedada fruit and jam have weak antioxidant activity values where the antioxidant activity is 549.91 ppm and 646.25 ppm, respectively.

Abstract

Industry Packaging produced the product than package used directly as food or material packaging to protect and secure the products. Therefore, it is necessary to review the presence of microbes that can contaminate the packaging, which can damage food or materials when using the packaging. The presence of contaminating microbes such as mold, Coliform yeast, Coliform and E. coli can come from new packaged products. Thus, the sample packaging is tested using the Colony counting method or Plate counting. by doing a swab on the test sample then dissolved and grown on the media. The medium is in the form of a petri film spreader in accordance with the microbes to be tested and then observed and the growth count is calculated. The microbes observed were Coliform, mold, and yeast as well as E. coli on flexible packaging and Coliform on standing pouch. After conducting the research, there was’n the type of microbe tested or zero and in accordance with the packaging industry company standards.

Abstract

Fruit jam is one of the preserved products that have a soft texture that contains crushed fruit and is mixed with sugar with the addition or without the addition of water. Preservatives are added to prevent damage to jams. A preservative that is usually added to jam is potassium sorbate. Potassium sorbate is commonly used as a preservative because it dissolves more easily when added to food. This study aims to determine the levels of potassium sorbate in jam samples. Potassium sorbate was determined using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). From the test results, it was found that potassium sorbate levels ranged from719, 65 mg/kg to 757,24 mg/kg. The results of this test will be compared with the standards set by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) No. 36 of 2013 concerning the maximum limit for the use of preservative food additives, namely 500 mg/kg. From the test results, it can be seen that the potassium sorbate in all samples exceeds the quality standard set by the BPOM. Therefore, people must be more careful in choosing jam to consume daily. The test results have used the right method, namely by adjusting the stationary phase, mobile phase and the right wavelength so that the% recovery results are 103%.

Abstract

Industrial wastewater is water from the processing of an industrial process. This type of water is classified as having poor quality because of the contaminants it contains. The contaminants contained in industrial water vary depending on the related processes that produced the water. This study aims to determine the concentrations of heavy metals Cu and Zn in industrial wastewater at three locations in Batam City. Wastewater testing was carried out using the ICP-AES. The results obtained indicate that the levels of Cu and Zn in the industrial wastewater samples at the three locations are still below the maximum concentration limit permitted by the Environmental Quality Standards and are in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia No. 5 of 2014 Annex 47 About Wastewater Quality Standards.
