Abstract

One of the climate changes impact is extreme rainfall. Extreme rainfall can cause some hydrometeorological disasters, especially floods and landslides. In 2016, BNPB recorded that there were 2,342 disaster events in Indonesia, 92% of which were disasters dominated by floods, landslides, and cyclones. There were 766 floods, 612 landslides, and 74 combinations of both. In this case, clustering is one of the important method to identify groups of areas with similar characteristics of high or low rainfall. Another analysis that can be applied is the identification of the extreme rainfall and the determination of dominant rainfall pattern using Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) for each region in Indonesia. The data was taken from Indonesia’s rainfall data in January 1998 - March 2017, obtained from the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) meteorological satellite, with 12,834 observation units. The highest average rainfall in Indonesia in December is 290,26 mm/month. Rainy season is predicted from November to April because they have the highest average rainfall. The SVD analysis formed four dominant rainfall patterns in Indonesia with a variance of 25.59%, where Papua and West Papua are the regions with the highest rainfall. The area around the Indian Ocean is the area with the most extreme rainfall events compared to other regions. Using Fuzzy C-means, three clusters can be formed, with criteria for areas of high, medium, and low rainfall. Based on the results of the analysis, the area has the potential for flooding and landslides due to high rainfall, so that preventive and mitigation efforts against the risk of flooding and landslides can be treated better.

Abstract

Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) signals experience propagation through air and material in a building. This propagation causes signal decreasing signal strength. This study aims to determine materials in buildings that cause significant signal strength loss so in the future building design could factor in signal strength by using material that doesn't affect signal strength significantly. The testing of signal strength will be done by observing signal strength through different materials. Signal strength will be recorded by using a mobile app. Materials that majorly decrease signal strength are plastics, with the least affecting materials are hollow plywood wall. The use of plastics in a building affects significantly on signal loss and should be replaced if possible with hollow plywood walls.

Abstract

This research is an implementation of the internet of things (IoT) for smart trash cans in places that are usually visited by many people. Currently, the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia is still quite high. Therefore, the Internet of Things (IoT) system is intended to help reduce the spread of the covid-19 virus. This system uses a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller and several sensors that are used to support this research. The design of this IoT system focuses on measuring the distance between the trash can and the person disposing of the trash to calculate the opening and closing distance for the trash and measuring the height of the trash in the trash as a reference for cleaning workers to pick up trash at the right time. This smart trash can can open the lid automatically according to a specified distance and will send an alarm to the cleaning worker smartphone on duty when the height of the trash is full or reaches a predetermined limit. Keywords: Internet of Things, Covid-19, Smart Trash Can, Blynk Platform

Abstract

PT Asuransi Jiwasraya has been facing a crisis since 2020, which later probably demand them to reconstruct their insurance policy. Nothing is decided aside from the reconstruction idea. This is a hard task to deal with as there is a high risk to be borne along. In the worst case, bankruptcy awaits. As technology has taken over most industries, including insurance, it is only normal for the company to take advantage of the applied technology. However, it is still unknown whether the database used could help fulfill the mission. Considering loads of data might be higher by year, it will be more efficient to use the integrated database to transfer the whole data into a new-adapted database rather than creating a new one and manually adapt then add the data. This could be done by doing a Bottom-up approach that occurs in two big steps. This is the safest choice now which is handy and possible.

Abstract

This paper discusses the derivation of Euler's formula. To obtain this model, the writer derives Euler's formula from ex+iy by first finding the norm and argument of ex+iy. In this derivation we substitute the norm and argument of ex+iy on complex numbers in polar coordinates, until we get the derivation of Euler's formula.

Abstract

Air Conditioners (AC) are increasingly used to get the room temperature as desired, starting from home use to keep the room cool and enjoyable, to specific room like server rooms or ATM which are focused on keeping the room cool in order to keep the equipment cool. The role of AC is quite important to maintain room temperature, and its increasing use has led to the growing need for users to control the AC. The Internet of Things allows users to remotely control air conditioners using the gadgets used and get real time room temperature information. The AC control system based on Internet of Things (IoT) utilizes an internet connection to monitor room temperature and control AC remotely. The devices used are DHT11 as a temperature sensor to get room temperature, Infrared Receiver to read the code sent by the remote AC, Infrared Transmitter to send commands to the AC in the room, and ESP8266 as a microcontroller and a link to the internet. The IoT platform used is Blynk which has the ability to access the microcontroller from the user's gadget. The tests are running on room air conditioners such as the Panasonic CS-PC18PKP series, the Panasonic CS-YN18TKP series and the Samsung AR09TGHQASINSE series. The test results showed that the room air conditioner was successfully controlled, and the room temperature was read in real time via an android smartphone.

Abstract

The square root of two is an irrational number that cannot be written as a fraction of the numerator and denominator. By using the generating function of A-B Goen, from the resulting set of numbers, the sequence of A-B Goen numbers can be obtained by selecting integer numbers. The A Goen numbers are generated from the generator function which have integer numbers, while the B Goen numbers are obtained from the sequence numbers. In this study, through the generating function of A-B Goen, it can be proven that the division between the A Goen number and the B Goen number in an infinite sequence will result the value of the square root of two.

Abstract

The popularity of social media continues to grow, and its dominance of the entire world has become one of the aspects of modern life that cannot be ignored. The rapid growth of social media has resulted in the emergence of ecosystem problems. Hate speech, fraud, fake news, and a slew of other issues are becoming un-stoppable. With over 1.7 billion fake accounts on social media, the losses have al-ready been significant, and removing these accounts will take a long time. Due to the growing number of Instagram users, the need for identifying fake accounts on social media, specifically in Instagram, is increasing. Because this process takes a long time if done manually by humans, we can now use machine learning to identify fake accounts thanks to the rapid development of machine learning. We can detect fake accounts on Instagram using machine learning by implementing the combination of image detection and natural language processing.

Abstract

Virtual Reality (VR) is becoming more popular as a treatment option for many phobias. We present a method that uses virtual reality in treatment to cure acrophobia in this research. Acrophobia is an anxiety condition that occurs when a person is exposed to heights. The goal of our study is to see whether Virtual Reality technology can be used to treat acrophobia. We conducted a comprehensive literature evaluation on publications relevant to acrophobia and virtual reality that were located on Google Scholar using a keyword-based search strategy. We noticed that the majority of papers involve more than two persons as a sample and use virtual reality exposure treatment. The participants' anxiety levels decrease with each exposure, suggesting that VR-based exposure might be employed as an acrophobic alternative treatment.
