Abstract

Forests are one of the great natural resources of benefit to human welfare. Forests are also the basic capital of national development. As the basic capital of national development, the forest must be preserved so that the benefits of this forest will not only be enjoyed now, but for generations to come. Therefore, these forest resources need to be managed properly and appropriately so that the benefits and results can be optimal and sustainable. The purpose of this research was to find out the growth of the diameter and height of sungkai plants (Peronema canescens) aged 27 years in the Forest of Agricultural Polytechnic plants of Samarinda State. The expected result of this research is as an information material to the relevant parties as a consideration for the management of sungkai plants in the future. This research was carried out in the campus area of Samarinda State Agricultural Polytechnic. The material used is a 27-year-old sungkai (Peronema canescens) tree as many as 144 trees that were carried out for 3 (three) months, namely in October to December 2019. Diameter Measurement using Phiband and Height using Clinometer and tools in the form of pole / stick along 4 m. The results obtained are processed with simple statistics and analyzed using descriptive methods. Based on the results of processing and analysis of data that has been done, it can be concluded that the planting diameter of plants sungkai age 27 years in the area of Agricultural Polytechnic samarinda varies greatly with an average diameter of 17.42 cm, where plants with large diameters grow on the edge of the area and small ones are in the middle of the area. While the growth of sungkai plant height is relatively uniform with an average height of 20.19 m. The advice given from the results of this study is that there needs to be maintenance especially for looting because the growing space is less than ideal anymore. This can be seen by the related header of such plants in so difficult to distinguish the tip of the header from each other

Abstract

This research is based on the background that weeds in oil palm plantations must be controlled so that economically it does not affect production. The implementation of manual weed control on immature plants (TBM) must have used costs that must be incurred by the company. This study aims to analyze the cost of controlling weeds manually and to identify the factors that affect the cost of controlling weeds in immature plants (TBM). The implementation of this research uses quantitative methods in analyzing costs at 2 work units (Afdeling) by using data on the implementation / realization of work for February-April 2019 and descriptive methods in identifying factors that affect costs by conducting field analysis. The results of the cost analysis in 2 afdeling get results in the form of the average Afdeling cost, namely: The cost of manually controlling weeds in the gawangan at Afdeling 1 is Rp. 254,756 / ha and the gawangan at Afdeling 2 is Rp. 261,242 / ha. Meanwhile, the cost of controlling weeds manually on the plate at Afdeling 1 is Rp. 254,483 / ha and the plate at Afdeling 2 Rp. 238,787 / ha. Factors that influence the cost of controlling weeds manually in immature plants (TBM), especially in the dish and in the fields are more due to factors of land topography, weed density, and the types of weeds that are controlled.

Abstract

In Batuah Village, production of pepper has decreased due to land fires, land conversion to the mining sector and changes in other crop commodities and the price of pepper which is always changing and tends to decline. The welfare of farmers can be realized starting from increased income, increased production, and high purchase prices. The factor that causes farmers to feel less prosperous and not yet developed is that the price of pepper is bought cheaply by middlemen or collectors. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of pepper farmers and whether there is an effect of changes in pepper prices on farmer welfare. The results showed that rcount <rtabel (-0.331 <0.396), and it can be concluded that there is a very weak influence between the effect of price and the welfare of pepper farmers. It can be assumed that it is not only pepper plants that are planted by pepper farmers so that pepper farmers do not depend only on the commodity of the pepper plant.
