Abstract

What is creation? Creation is all things, human beings and non human beings. What is spirituality? The Spirit is life, ruah, breath, wind. To be spiritual is to be alive, filled with ruah, breathing deeply, in touch with the wind. What, then, is creation spirituality? Creation spirituality is a way of living based on creation. In another word, we can learn a way of living by reflecting on creation itself. One of the many things we can learn from creation that makes us to be fully alive is simple living, living aerodinamically, living lightly but abundantly.

Abstract

The lamentation of Job (Job 31:35) needed to be answered by God, whom Job considered extremely unjust by causing great sufferings into his life. His three closed friends (Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar) were rather his enemies in defending the traditional thesis of retribution. Although he pleaded against God, he found no answer from God. In his desperation, finally, Job appealed to a legal metaphor against God, and in this moment Elihu appeared as an arbiter, who presupposed to judge Job in God’s stead, and tried to respond to Job’s requests in judicial style. Elihu tried to convince Job that God did hear his lamentation and answered him. Only Job could not hear it, since God was greater than human beings and He answered in unpredictable ways, in this case He was talking “through dreams” as “a divine revelation”. Dream was God’s effort to turn Job from wrongful deeds or pride (Job’s arrogance in assuming complete integrity before God). It tended to warn Job to change his attitude into a faithful life.

Abstract

Abstract

The understanding of  death varies depending on peoples world views and religious beliefs. The undersanding and the experiences of St. Francis of death is interseting to reflect. He accepted death as a part of human existence, so at the approach of his death he said, “Welcome, my sister death!” Francis’ view about death was transformed by his experiences of faith and fraternal worldview. Byreflecting death inspired by St. Francis’ experiences of death we prepare ourselves to accept our death. Death is not our enemy, but a part of our human existence. In our death we will rest in peace.
PARISH RENEWAL: A CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL APPROACH Gonti Simanullang

Abstract

Parish renewal is about renewal of the faith and life of the faithful in the parish. It implies that every single member of the parish, due to the sacrament of initiation received, is called to live out their faith. In reality, however, not every one of the faithful is concernedabout the renewal. There are Catholics who are not practicing their faith anymore, not going to church on Sundays and the days of obligation. The Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR),as one of the ecclesial movements recognized within the Catholic Church, seems to have got something to offer for such a renewal, that is their personal experience of being touched, renewed, and strengthened by the Holy Spirit.

Abstract

A map setting and identification of the Toba-Batak in North Sumatra would be appropriate before dealing with the theme of inculturation among the Toba-Batak. In addition a short treatise on their inculturation experience, after an overwhelming conversion to Christianity since 19th century would be well to have a logic of inculturation exposition. It is not only experience, but most of all we desire a theological foundation, as it is exposed in the Vatican Council II, especially in the document Ad Gentes.

Abstract

St. Thomas Aquinas defines virtue as a good habit bearing on activity or a good faculty-habit (habitus operativus bonus). He adopts his idea from Aristoteles’ opinion. Aristoteles defines it as mean (mesotes) between two vices. Basic to the concept of virtue is the element of habit, which stands in a special relation to the soul, whether in the natural order or elevated to the divine life by grace (moral virtues and theological virtues). Back to virtue is a calling, so that people in our era is consistent in committing good acts.
