Abstract

Post dural puncture headache (PDPH) is a complication that can occur following diagnostic lumbar puncture, spinal anesthesia, and accidental dural puncture during epidural anesthesia. Spinal and epidural anesthesia are important modalities for an anesthesiologist. Anesthesiologists play a role not only in treating the patient, but also in preventing or reducing the risk of PDPH events. This case report presents a case of PDPH which treated by conservative method, continued by Epidural Blood Patch, and the case was followed until the patient recovered.

Abstract

Mathematics learning does not only focus on improving numeracy skills, because in reality numeracy skills are not enough to face everyday life problems. The demands on students' abilities to master mathematics include the ability to use numbers, mathematical symbols and arithmetic operation skills. This ability is related to numeracy literacy. This research aims to improve numeracy literacy skills in mathematics subjects with the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education Approach (PMRI) in class X students at Nur Azizi Private Vocational School, Tanjung Morawa. This research used a qualitative approach with a classroom action research design. The research was carried out in 3 cycles and involved 30 class X students. Data was obtained using observation, written tests and interviews. The results of the research show that the PMRI approach can improve numeracy literacy skills in mathematics subjects in class 47.58% in the inappropriate category, cycle II 63.45% in the inappropriate category, and cycle III 82.15% in the appropriate category. In teaching and learning activities, teachers are expected to use this method as an alternative in mathematics and other subjects to increase students' numeracy literacy activities and abilities and it is hoped that this research can be used as a reference for other researchers.

Abstract

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection remains a global challenge in public health, and a deeper understanding of its immunopathogenesis is essential for the development of more effective therapies and more efficient vaccines. the complexity of the interaction between HIV and the human immune system leads to a diverse course of the disease. Explanation of the main role of immune system components in detecting and responding to HIV infection, with special emphasis on the role of CD4+ T cells and the evation mechanisms applied by the HIV virus to avoid destruction by the immune system as well as the impact of HIV infection on dendritic cells, which play an important role in antigen presentation and initiation of immune response. We discuss how HIV utilizes dendritic cells for more efficient dissemination in the body and its impact on specific immunity. By integrating an in-depth understanding of the interaction between HIV and the immune system, this article aims to provide comprehensive insight into the immunopathogenesis of HIV infection and highlight future research directions to combat the disease. A better understanding of these complexities will hopefully support more effective HIV prevention and control efforts in the future.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the biggest cause of death globally and continue to increase. One of the efforts to overcome NCDs in Indonesia is early detection of NCD risk factors in the community, one of which is through health promotion programs. Basic Health Research Data (RISKESDAS) for 2020 shows that the prevalence of stroke in Indonesia in the population aged >15 years is 10.8% or an estimated 2,120,326 people. The prevalence of stroke in West Sumatra is 12.2% (2,553,200 people). Preventive efforts to reduce the number of stroke sufferers are an effective and efficient way. The aim of assessing the level of stroke risk in each resident in the Surau Zam Zam Pagambiran area is predominantly elderly, so it is necessary to prevent strokes in order to minimize the number of strokes in the community environment. Therefore, early prevention will be more effective if each individual knows the risk factors for stroke. One way to prevent early stroke is by using the ERDANELA model stroke prevention service which is able to identify the level of stroke risk. Extension through direct lectures by instructors from the community service team; the media used are power point and questionnaires; The counseling participants consisted of congregants at the Zam-Zam surau, all of whom were elderly (aged 60 years and over) totaling 21 people. Before the counseling, data was filled in and health checks were carried out for each congregation at the Zam-Zam surau (height, blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels). Of the 21 elderly congregation participants at Pagambiran surau zam-zam in Padang City who took part in counseling on early prevention of stroke risk factors using the Erdanela model troke prevention service, it was found that the congregation participants were very enthusiastic about participating in all series of event activities, with many questions being asked to the material giving committee, and the participants of the Zam-Zam surau congregation understood the material provided and were able to answer all the questions on stroke risk factors given during the question and answer session correctly. Health promotion to the elderly regarding the prevention of non-communicable diseases and early detection at Surau Zam-Zam Pagambiran aims to increase the knowledge of the Surau Zam-Zam Pagambiran congregation regarding the importance of knowing what risk factors can increase the occurrence of stroke through non-communicable diseases. The results of this activity are expected to be able to understand and independently play an active role in implementing healthy living habits by avoiding risk factors for stroke through non-communicable diseases.

Abstract

Motivation/Background. Stunting represents a prevalent health issue, particularly in lower to middle-income countries, including Indonesia. Occurring predominantly among infants, stunting is influenced by various factors such as genetics and nutritional status, primarily derived from direct dietary intake like breastfeeding. Additionally, socioeconomic factors, including household income, economic status, and food security, also contribute to stunting in young children. The adverse effects of stunting manifest in compromised growth and intellectual development, potentially impeding productivity, elevating the incidence of low birth weight, and increasing the risk of degenerative diseases. These consequences may subsequently heighten the risk of future poverty. This study aims to explore the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in infants. Method: The research adopts a (narrative/systematic) review methodology, guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework. Data was gathered through searches on Google Scholar and PubMed, focusing on publications from 2019 to 2023. The search keywords included "Relationship between Exclusive Breastfeeding and Stunting," "Exclusive Breastfeeding," and "Stunting." Out of 100 results from Google Scholar and 756 from PubMed, five studies were selected for inclusion in this review. Results: The review indicates that the incidence of stunting is significantly associated with the lack of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life. Conclusions: There is a significant correlation between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in infants, underlining the importance of promoting and supporting exclusive breastfeeding to mitigate the risk of stunting and its long-term consequences
