Abstract

The crude oil markets have seen unpredictability over petroleum markets' good and bad times worldwide in the past few years. Various facets of the natural energy industry discuss in this research paper. The effect of the Indian ecosystem in determining oil demand and supply is vital to understand price fluctuations. Researchers in this research paper concentrates on the ARIMA model and other regression models used in the post-1991 LPG reforms to determine crude petroleum values and their primary effect on the Indian ecosystem (GDP) through time-series data from 1991 to 2019. The ARIMA model is further evidence of the validation of datasets and the potential trend in the show of global oil rates. The uncouth oil historical values prophesy the potential movement from crude oil prices, and the recommended model-based fallouts are compelling and honest. Before applying the normality of data and unit-roots, the ARIMA model thoroughly checks at the level. If stationary is not detected, then unit-roots are suspended. The first step is to keep residuals static at the required level of significance to provide efficient forecasting using the ARIMA model used for this analysis.

Abstract

Enhancing the 21st-century skills of learners will significantly help them become future-ready and globally-competent workforce in the global economy in the context of the fourth industrial revolution. This descriptive cross-sectional survey determined the 21st-century skills of junior high school learners as an input for a suggested training program. A total of 120 seventh grade learners of a public secondary school in Central Luzon, Philippines responded to the 21st-Century Skills Questionnaire (α=0.960). Results showed that the respondents have a moderate level of attainment of the 21st-century skills (M=3.46, SD=0.66). They moderately exhibit learning and innovation skills (LIS) (M= 3.32, SD=0.66), and highly exhibit information, media, and technology skills (IMTS) (M=3.53, SD=0.82), and life and career skills (LCS) (M=3.53, SD=0.74). Female students have higher overall 21st-century skills, and LIS than their male counterparts based on the independent sample t-test result. Furthermore, there is a significant correlation between LIS and IMTS (r=0.619, p=0.000), between LIS and LCS (r=0.560; p=0.000); and between IMTS and LCS (r=0.820; p=0.000). Learning institutions must adapt to the emerging Education 4.0 brought about by the new industrial era and the 21st-century society so that learners can thrive to the current and evolving challenges. A proposed training program is recommended for implementation to enhance the students’ 21st-century skills.

Abstract

The need of a location-based service more specifically as a mobile application sparked the interest of this paper to develop an Android Mobile Application using Location-based services. Yelp and Zomato are one of the few examples. The application created is specific to locating the nearest auto repair shops used via smartphones that detect the location of the user in order to perform the task. This application will not only benefit the customers in need for a nearby auto shop but as well as the providers of the service. The application was developed using Android Studio and was tested by using five (5) nearest auto shops around the vicinity. The results showed the directions getting to the shops as well as the type of services being provided to customers. An acceptability survey was conducted to validate the applicability of the mobile application. The survey was conducted using a controlled group consisting of the nearest auto shops and thirty (30) automobile enthusiasts. The survey presents an applicable and engaging application in assisting possible customers in case of emergency instances arise. Using the survey as basis, an enhancement of the application was completed. Finally, it was suggested that the application will reach its full potential once additional functions are implemented. Registration or Google verification of shop owners is key as it will add to the service provider directory to enable a broad listing.

Schools shall be conducive to children’s education, and that the children’s’ best interest shall be the primary consideration in all policies and actions of educational institutions. This descriptive cross-sectional survey gauged the Filipino public school teachers’ awareness of and attitudes towards the child protection policy (CPP). The study involved 99 basic education teachers in select public elementary and secondary schools in Zambales, Philippines. The basic education teachers are aware of the policy, and they have a favorable attitude toward its implementation. No significant difference has been found in their awareness and attitude towards CPP when grouped according to demographics. The study concludes that as the teachers become aware of the policy, they tend to have a more favorable attitude. The study recommends that the teachers be capacitated through continuing professional development programs to provide special protection to children who are seriously susceptible or threatened by situations that distress their normal growth. Further study may also be conducted to probe other CPP dimensions in basic education to come up with relevant and research-based recommendations towards the policy’s improved implementation in the public schools in the Philippine context.

Abstract

The article is aimed to study the correlation between the time spent on Facebook and GPA scores of post-graduate students of Afghanistan. Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, and many other social networks are used broadly by scholars inside and outside the campuses. However, these social platforms are a mean for communication and have paved the way for interactive educational practices, but still there are concerns on the relationships of these social applications on students’ educational developments. Reviewing the literature, the study identified that there are few articles on the impact of social media on teaching and learning in Afghanistan which are conducted in different context as well as applied different methods and observations. Therefore, this article intended to use a quantitative approach and descriptive survey to evaluate the GPA scores of the students and the time spent on Facebook in order to evaluate their relationships. The data is analysed performing Repeated Measure ANOVA and Pearson Correlation. The results show that there is no significant difference in the mean score of GPAs between three semester of post-graduates. It also highlights that there is no correlation between the time spent on Facebook and the GPA scores of students. To conclude, the study contributes to enrich the ongoing e-learning strategies of the higher education by underlining the potentials and restrictions of the use of social medias on students’ educational developments.

Abstract

This study sought to develop and evaluate learning resource material in upgrading reading comprehension skills of Grade 11 to meet the pressing need of Doňa Candelaria Meneses Duque National High School. The researcher utilized the descriptive survey method which uses questionnaires as the primary tools in gathering desired data information. There were two sets of questionnaire which were used in the study. The first questionnaire is the Reading Diagnostic Test while the second research instrument is the evaluation tool for the developed learning resource materials. The subjects of this study are in two groups: one hundred twenty three (123) randomly selected Grade 11 senior high school students at Doña Candelaria Meneses Duque National High School (DCMDNHS) at Bulakan, Bulacan during the school year 2017-2018; and five ESL teachers, who evaluated the resource materials. The data collected were encoded and entered into the matrix using the computer software of Microsoft Excel with the following statistical procedures: frequency distribution, percentage score, mean, total mean and standard deviation. Based on the results of the diagnostic test, the researcher developed the learning resource materials, and these were validated by five ESL teachers using a 5- point Likert Scale in terms of the following criteria: objectives, contents, vocabulary, usefulness and presentation. Generally, after the evaluation, the overall mean gained of the instructional materials is 4.72, interpreted as “Excellent”. This computed overall mean attests and suggests that the developed learning resource materials in reading are acceptable. The study recommends that the language teachers need to provide the students the means towards maximum growth in accordance with their reading ability. The teachers must help students acquire basic comprehension skills and strategies in sequential reading program designed to reinforce the skills and appreciation of previous skills acquired and to develop new skills that are needed. Likewise, it is also suggested that the administrators should conduct or sponsor programs and in-service trainings to ensure the necessary updated innovations on the preparation and development of instructional materials, particularly in reading comprehension skills. Further, future researchers should conduct a research-driven strategy that can improve the reading comprehension skills of the students
