Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the effect of using Project-based Learning (PjBL) method on students’ writing skill of second year students at SMAN 2 Tapung Hilir. The design of this research was experimental research which was deal with two variables. The first variable was project based learning method as independent variable and the second variable was students’ writing skill as dependent variable. The sample of this research was 61 students of second year students at SMAN 2 Tapung Hilir. Further, there were two classes of this research. There were experimental class and control class. To obtain the data, the researcher gave the students explanation text as writing test. The data was analyzed by using paired sample T-test through SPSS 22 version program. Based on result shown that towas8.682 and df was 29. It could be analyzed that to is higher than ttable, of 0,05 on the significance rtable(8.682>0.367), that null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It can be concluded that there is significant effect of using PjBL method on students’ writing skill of second year students at SMAN 2 Tapung Hilir.

Abstract

The low level of intensive reading skill in Indonesian language of fourth grade of MI Darussalam becomes the background of this classroom action research. The ineffectiveness of the learning process is suspected by the lack of innovation and creativity of teachers in choosing a learning model. Therefore, the researcher applies cooperative learning model of Think-Talk-Write type as an effort to improve intensive reading skill of the fourth grade of MI Darussalam. Researcher is as the research subject and the fourth grade teacher of MI Darussalam is as observer. Data collection techniques conducted in this study are by using the techniques of observation, tests, and documentation. After conducting the research, it can be concluded that the average score of students' intensive reading skill before the research was 55,85 with less category. In the first cycle there has been an increase to 69.75 with sufficient category. Big changes occurred in cycle II with average value to 88.75 with good category. From the result of the research, it can be concluded that intensive reading skill of fourth grade of MI Darussalam can be increased by applying cooperative learning model type Think-Talk-Write.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the difficulties in teaching young learners at the IT INSAN CENDEKIA BANGKINANG Elementary School. This research uses a qualitative interview method which aims to determine the difficulties teachers experience in teaching young learners in schools. There were two teacher gave response on their difficulites in teaching students in kindergarten. Interviews were conducted with two teachers at the school. From the two interviews conducted, competent teachers are needed.

Abstract

This action research is aimed at improving the students‘ reading comprehension by using Numbered Head Together (NHT) strategy in five (A) grade at SD IT Fadilah in Pekanbaru. The researcher applies the discussion method in learning English at SD IT Fadilah Pekanbaru. Numbered Head Together (NHT) or numbering thinking together is a type of cooperative learning that is designed to influence patterns of interaction and as an alternative to classroom. The result shows that the use of NHT strategy has successfully made the students able to comprehend the reading. It can be seen from student learning outcomes obtained a value of 54.60 with a low category, in UH I increased learning outcomes with the acquisition of value of 65.76 in the medium category, and in UH II student learning outcomes increased again with the acquisition of a value of 79.25 with high category. Based on the above research data, it appears that student learning outcomes in English have improved after the Number Head Together (NHT) strategy was applied. The Numbered Head Together (NHT) strategy generally involves students in reviewing the material in the lesson and understanding of the material provided.
