Abstract

This study was purpose to evaluate the stability of pH, NPN and proximate value of catfish waste silage made by adding the backslop method inoculum during storage. The experimental design used was a randomized block design (RAK), as the treatment was silage without inoculum and silage added inoculum, while silage storage was as a group (0,7,15 and 21). The parameters evaluated were pH, NPN and proximate. The results showed that the pH of the silage with the addition of an inoculum and without an inoculum was relatively stable because it was at pH 4. Statistical analysis showed that the average pH value of the inoculum added silage was lower than the inoculum silage and was not significantly different (p> 0.05). Statistical analysis showed that the average value of NPN with inoculum added silage was lower than that of silage without inoculum. Silage without inoculum and silage inoculum on day 7, 15 and 21 were significantly different (p> 0.05) while on day 0 they were not significantly different (p> 0.05). High proximate silage content is found in silage added with inoculum with a water content value of 66.60%, ash 1.49%, protein 20.60%, fat 3.02%.

Abstract

In this recent days, fishing activities have used various and varied fishing gear, one of them is fishing rods. Fishing gear has an important component, namely fishingline. Fishing line nowadays has many different brands, types and diameters to suit theneeds and desires of its users. However, the quality of fishing line is one of thedetermining factors for choosing a good fishing line. In determining the quality of fishingline breaking strength and elongation value can be used as benchmarks. This studyconducted trials on Shino Pro fishing line with diameters of 0.40mm and 0.35mm andTencara fishing line with 0.30mm diameter. Tests to measure the value of breakingstrength and elongation are carried out using a strength tester, the fishing line that used tobe tested is cut in to small size and clamped to the upper chuck and lower chuck whichhave been calibrated before to the initial position. The obtained value then used to input toT test until the results of breaking strength and elongation came out, the results shows thatthe 0.40mm Shino Pro fishing line has the best elongation value. Meanwhile, the resultsof the T test on the breaking strength value shows that Shino Pro 0.40mm fishing line hasbetter value than 0.35mm Shino Pro fishing line and the last is 0.30mm Tencara fishingline.

Abstract

There has been a decrease and increase in the number of fishermen in the last 5 yearswhich is thought to be caused by the development of an industrial area on the coast ofDumai City. This paper aims to determine the socio-economic conditions of the fishingcommunities adjacent to the Dumai City industrial area, analyze the impact of industrialdevelopment on the livelihoods of fishing communities, and analyze the Dumai CityGovernment policies in ensuring the sustainability of the livelihoods of fishingcommunities. This research was conducted using a survey method with a quantitativeapproach located in Dumai City on March - April 2021. This study reveals that thepositive impact of industrial development in the coastal area of Dumai City is theincreased consumption of capture fishery products in Dumai City and the availability ofwide employment opportunities according to the level of education required, while thenegative impact of industrial development in the coastal area of Dumai City is theincreasingly narrow fishermen's catching areas that are in accordance with the type ofboat and the type of fishing gear currently used and the occurrence of livelihood shifts. This negative impact can threaten the sustainability of the fishermen's livelihood systemin Dumai City because based on the identification of socio-economic conditions, fishermen in Dumai City have lower middle income. Based on the SWOT analysis, thealternative policy that can be carried out by the Dumai City government in ensuring thesustainability of the livelihood system of the fishing community is to carry out a capturefisheries area development program as well as fostering Joint Business Groups withfishermen and the formation of fishermen's cooperatives.
