Abstract

Pekalongan Regency is one of the coastal areas producing consumption fish with one species of kuniran fish (Upeneus spp). However, its production is decreasing due to growth disturbance, one of which is caused by parasitic infection. Information regarding the existence of parasites in kuniran fish is still limited. The research was conducted at the Pekalongan University Biology Laboratory from November 7 to November 30, 2022. This research aimed to discover the types of parasites that infect kuniran fish in Pekalongan Regency. The parasite's prevalence rate and degree of infection were also analyzed descriptively. The research was carried out using a sample of 36 fish. Fish were grouped into three groups, namely group I (23.3 ±1.2 cm), group II (18.5 ±0.9 cm), and group III (14.3 ±0.4 cm). The parasite results obtained from the endoparasite group, namely the Procamallanus sp. and Camallanus sp. with the highest parasite prevalence value found in group III with a size of 14.3 ± 0.4 cm both Procamallanus sp. value of 33.3% and Camallanus sp. with a discount of 50%. In addition, the degree of infection in both parasites and fish groups showed a low category.

Abstract

Giving fermented herbs feed can increase appetite, feed digestibility, growth, and fish health. Rearing fish in salinity media aims to find the best salinity levels for osmolarity and survival, so that fresh water fish can also be reared in saline waters. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD), 5 treatment levels 3 replications, namely P0(0 ppt), P1(3 ppt), P2(6 ppt), P3(9 ppt), and P4(12 ppt). Salinity treatment was made by diluting seawater (35‰) with fresh water. The test fish used were common carp measuring 6-8 cm, kept in an aquarium measuring 60x40x40cm with a stocking density of 1 fish/3 liters of water. The feed given was in the form of commercial pellets plus fermented herbs at a dose of 200 mL/kg of feed dissolved in 500 mL of clean water. This research was conducted for 60 days. The results showed that the osmolarity of carp for 60 days of rearing ranged from 135-332 mOsm/kg H2O The highest absolute weight growth in P2 with a value (10.52 g) and lowest at P4 (8.36 g). The highest survival rate of carp was in the P0, P1 and P2 with a value (100%), while in P3(95%) and P4(75%). Common carp are able to tolerate salinity levels up to 12 ppt.

Abstract

Efficiency is an important aspect that can be used as a benchmark for making decisions in production with various available production input alternatives. Knowing efficiency both technically and economically will reduce the gap between productivity that should be produced. Efficiency is used as an indicator in seeing the ability of the production unit in the fishing business, to know the potential for production inputs it is necessary to analyze its efficiency both technically and economically as well as its development potential. So this research was conducted to see how the efficiency of the dominant fishing gear used by fishermen in Tanah Merah District is technically by looking at the factors that affect fishing production and its financial feasibility. This study uses a quantitative descriptive analysis with a survey method approach and uses an analysis of technical efficiency and financial feasibility. The results showed that the technical efficiency of the capture fisheries business using drift nets by looking at the Cobb-Douglas production function showed a VRS value of 1.185 > 1, which means that it is in the increasing return to scale category where the percentage increase in production is greater for the addition of production factors so that the use of production factors is technically efficient. . Based on the results of the financial feasibility analysis it was concluded that the fishing business using drift nets is feasible to be cultivated in terms of financial parameters in the form of R/C ratio, PPC and ROI.

Abstract

The main problem with purse seine operations is the erratic purse line pull time. This greatly affects the total catch obtained in each trip. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the correlation value of purse line pull time and total catch, then analyze the effect between the two. The research method used is experimental fishing for 3 months. The implementation time was carried out in March-June 2020. The data analysis used was correlation analysis, ANOVA and regression. The correlation value (r) between purse line pulling time and total catch is 0.72 (strong). Based on the ANOVA value, which resulted in significantly different values, the purse line pull time significantly affected the total catch. The purse line pull time factor affects the total catch by 52% and 48% is influenced by other factors. The linear regression equation is y = 6261.2 - 2.3102x. The value of constant b has a negative value, so each additional purse line pull time will reduce the total catch. The results of this study can be used as the basis for the development of purse seine puller technology to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of purse seine operations.
