Abstract

The use of antagonistic microorganisms in controlling plant pathogens is considered an important component in integrated pest control management. The effectiveness of Bacillus subtilis in controlling plant disease-causing pathogens has been widely proven. To simplify application and increase storage time, these bacteria can be formulated in liquid and powder form. This study aims to test the effectiveness of several B. subtilis isolates formulated in powder form to control maize leaf blight. The study was conducted at the Maros Cereal Research Institute. The study was arranged in a completely randomized design consisting of 8 treatments of B. subtilis isolates namely BS-TLB1, BS-BJ6, BS-TM3, BS-TM4, BS -BNt4, BS-BNt5, BS-BNt6, BS-BNt8 and three controls (K1 with the use of synthetic pesticides, K2 with Bipolaris maydis suspension (no formulation) and K3 with no treatment). Parameters observed include the intensity of leaf blight disease which was observed when the plants were 4 MST, 5 MST and 6 MST. The results showed that spraying maize leaves with the B. subtilis formulation had a positive effect on the attack intensity of B. maydis, treatment with BS-BNt4 had the lowest attack intensity, namely 68.00%.

Abstract

Fisherman generally use purse seine fishing gear to catch mackerel tuna because it is able to effectively catch pelagic fish that behave in large groups, both in coastal and offshore areas. However, until now the problem faced by fishermen and ship owners is the decline in the quality of the fish they catch due to the length of time they catch fish at sea. This study aimed to analyze the effect of different tasting metods and storage duration on the quality of mackerel tuna (Euthynnus affinis). This study used a completely randomized factorial design (RAL) involving 2 factor and each treatment was carried out in 3 replicates. . The treatments used were the fish icing method (bulk, 1-layered fish, and 2-layered fish) with a ratio of ice and fish 1:1 and a storage duration of 12, 24, and 36 hours. Statistical analysis of the quality of mackerel tuna (Euthynnus affinis) wa carried out, namely temperature, organoleptic and coliform. The results showed that after 36 h of storage theter was no difference in organoelptic value, while the temperature and coliform values had different values, namely the stacked methode got result (4,3±0,58) (6,2±0), layered method 1 (4,6±0,58) (6,2±0) and layered method 2 (7,6±0,58) (6,1±1,08). Of the trhree testing methods that were given treatment with different storage times, the result were not much different, but when viewed from the temperature value, the stacking methods is the best method.

Abstract

Boer goats are one of the imported goats from other countries. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences between FSH and LH levels in the blood of Boer goat based on the type of birth namely triplets and single-birth type. This is the method in goat selection to determine goats with triplet birth types. This research was conducted from June to October 2022 in Kediri, Lombok Barat, Indonesia. This study used four (4) Boer goats with 12 triplets and four (4) Boer goats with four (4) singletons (as a control). This research was carried out by measurement of quantitative’s performance, blood sampling, measurement of FSH and LH level in the blood. Analysis of FSH and LH levels has been performed at Laboratorium Imunobiologi Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan (MIPA) Universitas Mataram. The data obtained were analyzed using t-test. The results showed that the triplet’s birth-type (BK) of Boer goats had lower production performance (morphometric size) than the single-birth type (BT) but showed an increase in levels (mlU/ml) of FSH and LH in the blood by comparison of FSH = 3.612±0.06 (BK) vs 3.531±0.09 (BT) and LH = 3.493±0.27 (BK) vs 3.371±0.20 (BT). FSH and LH levels in the blood of goats are positively correlated with their quantitative performance. It can be concluded, the selection in goats with the potential to give birth with the triplet’s birth-type, it can be detected from the quantitative’s performance and the level of FSH and LH in the blood.
