Abstract

Education system in Industrial Revolution 4.0 is being challenged to prepare students to be wellequipped with the 21st century skills.In addition to thiscompetitive globalization era, teaching of Bahasa Indonesia as a foreign language has come to the need of conformity of learning material to the working world. This paper will describe the impacts of “Sahabatku Indonesia - BIPA diplomacy material for Thai speaker” textbook to students of year 1 in Naresuan University. The use of learner-centred and teacher-friendly language textbook is still in debate among language teachers, publishers, as well as ministries of education across the globe (Tomlinson, 2012). The finding does not show the relation of learning material in text books to the needs in the working world, however, the findings describe the effectiveness of topical units in the text book that help students to acquire better understanding to the language, Indonesian people and culture, and arouse students’ interests to learn further studies of Indonesia and Bahasa Indonesia, which then in turns will be beneficial forthem in their working world.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the imperative mode of directive speech acts of students in the Indonesian language learning process at SMK Negeri 5 Jember. Speech acts are used as the focus of the study by utilizing the learning process in the classroom. The data used in this study are speech segments containing directive speech acts with the imperative mode of students and their context. Observation technique is a data collection technique used in this study. The source of the data used in this research is directive speech acts with the imperative mode of students in the learning process. The results of this study indicate that in the process of learning Indonesian at SMK Negeri 5 Jember, various types of directive speech acts with imperative mode are found, including directive speech acts of advocating, requesting, prohibiting, and urging imperative mode. Then it was also found that the function of the directive illocutionary act with an imperative mode which includes the function of the directive illocutionary act of asking, ordering, requesting, and giving advice. In addition, it was also found that the strategies used were direct literal and indirect literal speech act strategies with imperative mode.

Abstract

The problem in this research is whether the direct guidance strategy learning model can improve the beginning reading ability of grade 1 students at SDN Dinoyo 2 Malang. This study aims to improve the ability to begin reading by using direct guidance strategies. This research is a classroom action research (PTK). The research subjects were students in grade 1 with a total of 22 students. The research location is SDN Dinoyo 2 Malang. Data collection techniques by observation, and tests. Data analysis was performed by qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of teacher and student observations in this study on average were in the good category. This research shows, (1) learning planning with direct guidance strategies is carried out with preparation in the form of learning implementation plans, methods, strategies and media in the form of reading source designs through text sheets. (2) The implementation of direct guidance strategies has improved students' reading learning, so that the learning atmosphere becomes more pleasant, (3) The learning outcomes with direct guidance strategies have been able to improve the ability to read at the beginning. This is evidenced by the test results in cycle one with a class average score of 68.2% or in the sufficient category. In cycle two students have experienced an increase in the class average score of 90.9% or are in the very good category.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the strengthening of student character in Indonesian courses including planning, implementation, assessment, inhibiting factors, and support. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subject of this research is a lecturer who teaches Indonesian language courses. Data obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation analysis. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman analysis model. The results obtained, that character education has been integrated in Indonesian language learning, both in planning, implementation, and learning assessment. At the learning planning stage, Indonesian language lecturers have included character values that will be implemented in learning in the syllabus and RPS. The implementation of Indonesian language learning as a whole has implemented character values.  Assessment of Indonesian language learning based on the RPS made by Indonesian language lecturers includes affective, cognitive, and psychomotor assessments. Assessment is carried out through observation, questions, and classical discussions. Inhibiting factors for the integration of character strengthening for students in Indonesian language learning, that  is lecturers having difficulty in choosing character values and integrating them with learning materials, assessing the achievement of character education, and learning media that are less supportive. Supporting factors for the integration of character strengthening in Indonesian language learning, that is the campus environment, interactions between students, and a coherent teaching schedule.

Abstract

Research purpose to: (1) determine the level of need for the critical reading module of exposition text with reflective learning in grade VIII of junior high school; (2) produce a critical reading module for exposition text with reflective learning in grade VIII of junior high school that students can use to learn; (3) test the feasibility of the critical reading module of exposition text with reflective learning in grade VIII of junior high school. This research is a research and development designed with R2D2 (Recursive, Reflective Design and Development Model). The data in this study are qualitative and quantitative data from expert and practitioner tests. Qualitative data are sourced from comments, criticisms, and suggestions from expert and practitioner ratings of the module. Quantitative data is sourced from expert and practitioner assessments of module components. The data analysis technique of this research is qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis. This research and development resulted in the product of the Critical Text Exposition Reading Module with a ReflectiveApproach in Grade VIII of Junior High School which was assessed by experts and practitioners. The results of expert and practitioner assessments of the module indicate that the assessment in the category is very feasible. The critical reading module of exposition text with a reflective approach was declared very feasible to improve critical reading skills as well as providing knowledge about exposition text to students of grade VIII junior high school.

Abstract

Indonesia and Egypt have close relationship and cooperation in several fields. One of them is education and culture. In Egypt there are thousands of Indonesians who are studying, especially at Al-Azhar University. In addition, there are also hundreds of Egyptians who are learning Indonesian language and culture both in Egypt and in Indonesia. The Atdikbud office of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo has opened the Indonesian Cultural Center (Puskin) in the Dokki area, for Egyptians who are interested in Indonesian language and culture can study and practice there. At Puskin, Egyptians can learn Indonesian dances, traditional music, and its martial arts silat. This platform is not just for locals but for other nationalities too. Apart from Puskin, the Center for Indonesian Studies (PSI) also opened at the Canal Suez University in Ismailiah City and the Al-Azhar BIPA Office at Al-Azhar University in Cairo. Recently, the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Indonesian Embassy in collaboration with Al-Azhar University opened an Indonesian Language Study Program at the Faculty of Language and Translation. This study program is the first program in Egypt even among Arab peninsula. This paper discusses the spread of Indonesian language in Egypt; Egyptian BIPA learning implementation plan; The characteristics of BIPA learning from two perspectives, namely the point of view of Egyptian students who have studied Indonesian language in Egypt and in Indonesia, and the point of view of BIPA teachers whose teaching Indonesian language in Egypt and Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) find out the balance of HOTS questions between types of texts in Indonesian textbooks SMP/MTs class VIII 2013 curriculum, (2) find out the balance of questions between cognitive levels in Indonesian textbooks SMP/MTs class VIII 2013 curriculum. This type of is quantitative descriptive. The population in this study were all Indonesian textbooks in class VIII SMP/MTs used in learning with the 2013 curriculum. As for the sample used in this study were Indonesian textbooks for SMP/MTs class VIII 2013 curriculum namely, (1) title: proficient in Indonesian, vol. class VIII SMP/MTs; (2) compiler: educative team; (3) editor: Muhammad Baihaqi, S.S.; (4) publisher: Erlangga. The instruments in this research in the documentation study and recording guidelines. This results of the study conclude: (1) HOTS questions between cognitive levels, i.e. analyzing more found questions (2) HOTS questions among types of text, news texts and persuasion texts are the same number of questions found, slogan and poster ad text, exposition text, fiction and non fiction text found, explanatory texts and review texts are the same number of questions found, drama texts and poetry texts found the most questions.

Abstract

Research purpose to: (1) describe the readability of the Indonesian textbooks Curriculum 2013 for male students of class VIII; (2) describing the readability of Indonesian textbooks Curriculum 2013 for female students of class VIII; (3) describe the differences in the readability of the Indonesian textbooks Curriculum 2013 in male and female students of class VIII.This type of research is quantitative research. The sample used in this study was grade VIII as many as 62 students. 25 male students and 33 female students. Determination of the sample is done by total sampling technique. The instrument in this study was a cloze test. Data analysis techniques used statistical analysis of independent sample t-test. The results of the study concluded: (1) the level of readability of the Indonesian textbooks Curriculum 2013 for male students of class VIII are categorized as difficult or low (frustation) on all texts tested, with the percentage of respondens in exposition text (88.9%), explanatory text (77.8%), review texts (100%), persuasive texts (95.6%), and nonfiction texts (95.24%). (2) Level of readability of Indonesian textbooks Curriculum 2013 for female students of class VIII are categorized as difficult or low (frustation) on all texts tested, with the percentage of respondens in exposition text (56.3%), explanatory text (59.4%), review text (88.23) %), persuasive texts (64.7%), and nonfiction texts (86.2%). (3) Based on the statistical test results obtained significance value of the review text 0.015, persuasive text with a significance value of 0.004, and nonfiction text with a significance value of 0.005. This shows that there are significant differences in the level of readability of Indonesian textbooks Curriculum 2013 for male and female students of class VIII in the review text, persuasive text, and nonfiction text. As for the text that does not have significant differences, namely exposition text and explanatory text.Keywords: readability, textbooks, gender

Abstract

Poetry is a literary work that uses language and is used to express themselves. Not only adults but also children also create literary works, including poetry. Children's poetry is poetry created by children, or by adults, but intended for children. This research was conducted to determine the form of diction and sentence patterns used in children's poetry on the Sahabat Magazine page. This research is expected to add to the scientific treasures in the field of children's literature learning. The method used in this study is referring to the method of copy, note, and documentation through screenshots, while the method in data analysis uses the equivalent method. The diction form used by children's poetry in Sahabat Magazine is classified as very varied. The number of diction forms used is 11 forms, including synonym, connotative, denotative, concrete, abstract, scientific, popular, general, special, foreign terms, and conversation. However, the use of denotative and concrete diction forms is more dominant than other diction, because all poetry uses the dictions forms. The sentence patterns used are very diverse. In this study found 38 different patterns. Sentence patterns are obtained from sentences that have one clause, two clauses, and no clauses.

Abstract

This study examines the use of vocabulary for self-image by users of social media facebook. This study aims to: (1) describe the form of exponential vocabulary for self-image on social media facebook; (2) describe the form of relational vocabulary for self-image on social media facebook; (3) describe the form of expressive vocabulary for self-image on social media facebook. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach by using a type of critical discourse analysis research. The critical discourse analysis model used is Fairclough's critical discourse analysis model. This study uses qualitative descriptive research design that focuses on the research process and results. The data in this study were sourced from posts by Facebook social media users. Data collection techniques were carried out in two stages, namely: observation and documentation. The results of the study reveal that the forms of the expansive vocabulary found in this study are classification, ideological words that are fought for, lexicalization, synonyms, antonyms, hyponyms, and metaphors. The forms of relational vocabulary found in this study are euphemistic expressions, formal words, informal words, greetings, names, and personal references. The forms of expressive vocabulary found in this study are in the form of positive evaluation and negative evaluation. The use of vocabulary forms for self- image is used to support efforts to build self-image carried out on Facebook social media by Facebook social media users.
