(Tropical Animal Science is a scientific journal published by Animal Science Department, Faculty of Animal Science, Boyolali University consistently published two times a year in May and November aims to publish information and original research results on animal science including breeding and genetics, feeding and nutrition, reproduction, biotechnology, physiology, management, socio-economics, products technology, microbiology, and other related topics in relation to animal science. Abstract

This study aim to determine the nutritional needs of laying hens according to physiological and environmental conditions in order to support the productivity of laying hens with free feeding choice. This research was conducted in Sidoharjo, Sumbung, Cepogo, Boyolali. Thirty layers of laying hens, age 52 weeks used in this study. The chicken were fed freely selectively with premix, corn, rice bran, and concentrate feed as measured ad libitum. Parameters measured were consumption, HDP, shell thickness and weight, albumen index, yolk index, and haugh index. The results were analyzed quantitatively by reading data with the graph. The results showed that the dietary intake of laying hens was lower than the standard, however, the nutrient needs could be fulfilled because the nutritional content of the feed ingredients was good. It’s can be seen from the high HDP, shell weight and thickness, also good egg index. Laying hens are able to fulfill their nutrient needs with the free feeding choice treatment.

Abstract

The aim of this study to determine effect of free feeding choice on consumption and profile of BAL on intestinal small & large of second phase laying hens. The research was conducted in June – July 2020 at Sidoharjo, Sumbung, Cepogo, Boyolali . This study used thirty of Lohmann Brown laying hens, 52 weeks . Feedstuffs used in this study are corn, rice bran and layer concentrate . Data analysis was measured by quantitative with graphs. This results showed that phase II on laying more consumped corn than rice bran and concentrate. Average of consumtion corn’s are 80 g/ hens/ day . However , the average of ration consumtion are 10 g / hens / day .On this study compare that hens more consume corn than consentrate , approximatly ,161 g/hens/ dayfor corns and 28 g /hens /day for consentrate . The microflora condition of the small and large is dominated by gram-positive bacteria, such as Bacillus, ( with contained are Diplobacillus, Streptobacillus and Streptococcus bacteria. The conclusion of this study was that Free Feeding Choice method can improve the health of the digestive tract and increase productivity of laying hens.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the comparison of physical and orgnoleptic qualities between marshmallows made from chicken claws and cow skin with the parameters being tested for taste, chewiness, texture and preference. This research was conducted in July-August 2020 at the laboratory of the Boyolali Veterinary Public Health Service Center and tested on panelists at the Daarul Arqom Tulung Modern Islamic Boarding School, Klaten. The material used consists of two, namely raw materials and manufacturing tools. First, the materials used to make gelatin in this study include chicken claws, cow skin, acetic acid, water, sodium disulfide S), calcium hydroxide ( ) and HCl. Meanwhile, the ingredients used include chicken claw gelatin, cow skin gelatin, vanilla, sucrose syrup, sugar, cornstarch, sugar flour and water. The tools used include basins, measuring cups, scales, scissors, waterbath (water bath), filter paper, vacuum filters, oven and blender. The results of the analysis of various organoleptic tests in this study which included texture, chewiness, taste and liking had a significant difference of P <0.01, namely that marshmallows with cowhide were better than marshmallows with chicken claw as the basic ingredient. The conclusion of the comparative study between marshmallow with gelatin as a base ingredient of cow skin gelatin is superior to that of chicken claw gelatin. Abstract

This research discusses about broiler chickens which are given turmeric herbs by giving through feed and drinking water. The chickens used were 96 Cobb DOC strains, 8 for each experimental unit. The study used 3 treatment and 4 repeat. The treatment is: T0 = basal feed, T1 = basal feed + 2% turmeric from the amount of feed consumption and T2 = basal feed + 2% turmeric from the amount of drinking water consumption. The parameters discussed in this study are the performance of broilers consisting of feed consumption, drinking water consumption, body weight gain, final body weight, feed conversion, mortality and income over feed and chicken costs. Feed consumption, drinking water consumption, body weight gain, final body weight, feed conversion and mortality are not supported by significant maintenance (P> 0.05). The highest income from feed and chicken costs in T2 training is Rp. 11,582. The conclusion of this research is the application of turmeric is more optimal if applied through drinking water at a level of 2%.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan hasil evaluasi penyelenggaraan pelatihan vokasi juru sembelih halal di Balai Besar Pelatihan Peternakan Batu dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pemilihan informan dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data ditabulasi dari wawancara dengan narasumber sebagai informan. Analisa data dilakukan dengan mengklasifikasi dan mengambil hubungan antar data wawancara tersebut. Validitas data diuji dengan teknik triangulasi sumber data berdasarkan wawancara dengan narasumber sebagai informan. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa evaluasi pelatihan vokasi juru sembelih halal dapat dianalisa dengan empat aspek evaluasi yang saling terikat dan berpengaruh dari tahap reaksi peserta pelatihan menyatakan puas pada kondisi sarana dan prasarana Balai Besar Pelatihan Peternakan Batu dan widyaiswara yang menyampaikan materi selama penyelenggaraan pelatihan. Pada aspek pembelajaran peserta pelatihan mayoritas memahami materi pelatihan vokasi juru sembelih halal. Tahap kebiasaan peserta pelatihan mayoritas telah melaksanakan materi pelatihan yang disampaikan. Aspek hasil target peserta pelatihan telah mencapai target yang ditetapkan oleh Balai Besar Pelatihan Peternakan Batu yaitu dari peningkatan nilai pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sikap.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama thawing terhadap kualitas semen beku Simmental. Meliputi dari motilitas masa Spermatozoa, konsentrasi Spermatozoa, Persentase Viabilitas Spermatozoa ,Persentase Abnormalisasi Spermatozoa dan Moitilitas Individu, yang dimana penelitian ini dilaksanakan di UPTD Balai Inseminasi Buatan (BIB) Sembawa, kabupaten Banyuasin, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimen dan dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis sidik ragam rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) non-faktorial terdiri dari 6 taraf perlakuan dan 4 kali ulangan sehingga di dapat 24 unit percobaan. Adapun perlakuan yang digunakan adalah :S1 : 10 Detik lama waktu Thawing S2 : 20 Detik lama waktu Thawing S3 : 30 Detik lama waktu Thawing S4 : 40 Detik lama waktu Thawing S5 : 50 Detik lama waktu Thawing S6: 60 Detik lama waktu Thawing. Hasil penelitian ini menggunakan lama waktu thawing 40 detik, dan berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap viabilitas spermatozoa dan motilitas individu spermatozoa dan motilitas individu spermatozoa dan tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap persentase abnormalitas spermatozoa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to look at the utilization of phase II laying hens nutrition by giving Free Feeding Choice feed. The material used in the study was 30 Brown Leg Horn laying hens with the age of 55 weeks. In this study, the use of the free-choice technique of feed with corn, finished concentrate, rice bran, and premix as feed ingredients. The parameters of this study were ration consumption, Hen Day Production, egg weight, digesta rate, and crude fiber digestibility. The results showed that the treatment had a significant effect, the average feed consumption of laying hens was 114 grams/day. Average production reaches 95%. The average overall weight is 65.15 grams. The average digestibility value of crude fiber was highest in the T10 treatment, which was 42.26% and the lowest in the T19 treatment 4.37%. The highest crude fiber consumption was T10 18.08% and the lowest was T13 6.11%. From the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that layer II brown leg horn laying hens with Free Feeding Choice feeding provide an opportunity for chickens to choose the feed ingredients needed to produce eggs.

Abstract

This article presents the results of research on the effect of micronizing techniques on chicken rations isa brown leghorn on the quality of egg contents. Isa Brown eggs are one type of egg that can meet the nutritional needs of people in Indonesia. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) using 3 treatments. and 6 replications. The analysis used one factor ANOVA test (One Way ANOVA) with SPSS 16.0. Followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) with a level of 5%. Based on the results of the study showed that the yellow corn micronizing technique had a significant effect on egg quality in (1) ration consumption of; (2) Hen day production (HDP); (3) Index albumen; (4) Yolk index; (5) Haugh index, with sig. (P<0.05). While the yellow corn micronizing technique had a significant effect on egg yolk color and eggshell color (P>0.05). The effect of the yellow corn micronizing technique on brown leghorn isa chicken rations on the quality of egg contents showed an increase in quality in the treatment of fine grain yellow corn rations.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan kultivar yang unggul dari dua kultivar yang berbeda dan waktu panen fodder sorgum hidroponik yang tepat berdasarkan laju degradasi nutrien pakan di dalam rumen. Bahan yang digunakan adalah Sorgum dengan kultivar KD4 dengan waktu panen 8 hari (K8), KD4 dengan waktu panen 12 hari (K12), Super 1 dengan waktu panen 8 hari (S8), dan Super 1 dengan waktu panen 12 hari (S12). Rancangan percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap berpola faktorial dengan kultivar sorgum (KD4 dan Super-1) sebagai faktor A dan waktu panen fodder sorgum hidroponik (8 dan 12 hari) sebagai faktor B. Data yang diambil adalah kecernaan bahan kering (BK) dalam rumen. Sampel diinkubasi dalam rumen ternak yang berfistula dengan interval waktu yang berbeda yaitu inkubasi: 2, 4, 8, 16, 24, dan 48 jam. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan sidik ragam (ANOVA). Jika terdapat interaksi atau pengaruh utama faktor A atau faktor B akan diuji lanjut dengan uji Duncan. Hasil perhitungan in sacco rumen didapatkan nilai degradasi teori (DT) dari BK K8 22,99 %, K12 23,67 %, S8 13,37 %, S12 15,21 %. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak adanya interaksi antara kedua faktor (kultivar dan waktu panen) terhadap nilai kinetik degradasi bahan pakan fodder sorgum hidroponik, tetapi menunjukkan hasil berbeda nyata (P<0,05) pada nilai fraksi terlarut dan DT dari BK pada jenis kultivar dan perbedaan yang tidak nyata pada waktu panen. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian ini bahwa waktu nilai rata-rata fraksi terlarut dan laju degradasi tidak berpengaruh pada waktu panen tetapi pada kultivar KD4 nilai rata-rata fraksi terlarut dan laju degradasi lebih tinggi dibandingkan Super-1.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak jahe merah terhadap kualitas organoleptik dan derajat keasaman (pH) pada kefir susu kambing. Bahan yang digunakan yaitu susu kambing, bibit kefir, dan jahe merah. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap pola searah, dengan menggunakan 25 ulangan untuk uji organoleptik dan 4 ulangan untuk uji pH. Perlakuannya adalah T0 = ekstrak jahe merah 0% T1 = ekstrak jahe merah 1.5%, T2 = ekstrak jahe merah 3%, T3 = ekstrak jahe merah 4.5%, T4 = ekstrak jahe merah 6%. Uji organoleptik dilakukan oleh 25 orang panelis semi terlatih dan uji pH menggunakan pH meter digital. Semua data hasil uji dianalisis menggunakan prosedur analysis of variance. Hasil dan kesimpulan menunjukan bahwa perlakuan pemberian ekstrak jahe merah berpengaruh nyata terhadap kualitas organoleptik (warna, aroma, rasa, kekentalan) dan tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap pH pada kefir susu kambing.
