Abstract

The rising defaults on subprime mortgages in the US triggered a global crisis for the money markets. The fact is the global financial crisis started with the US policies. What began with elevated losses on US subprime mortgages has spread beyond the borders of the United States and the confines of the mortgage market. Many of the world’s leading investment banks have collapsed as a result. Depression, a thing of the past, has made a striking comeback. Will it come back again in the future? Who is to blame? What should be done to avoid future incidence?

Abstract

This article explains the development of Islamic education in Singapore, specifically Madrasah al-Juneid al-Islamiyah. The problem: how is curriculum development at Madrasah al-Juneid? And what are the challenges of the future of this madrasa? To answer this problem, the amount of data collected through the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data collected were analyzed descriptively-qualitatively. The results show: first, the curriculum at Madrasah al-Juneid initially did not contain pure religion then was expanded by adding general lessons. In learning, study materials are commonly used to approach integration with Islamic teachings. Second, madrassas in Singapore face challenges in the future that are not easy, namely the demands of the world of work, demands for quality, challenges of Western lifestyles, and accusations against Islam as a terrorist religion. Creative madrassas must address all these challenges in developing quality programs so that graduates can compete with graduate schools, can fortify modern secular lifestyles, and can coexist peacefully during Singapore's diverse society.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is intended to reveal the background and influence of the United States in the South Pacific countries. The method used in this study is critical history. In analyzing data, the steps taken are steps according to Kuntowijoyo, topic selection, heuristics, verification (source criticism), interpretation, historiography. The results showed that the presence of the Soviet Union and China in the south Pacific moved the United States to pay more attention to this region, by further enhancing its role in the South Pacific Region. The role of the United States in the South Pacific Region covers the fields of economics, politics, and strategy. In the economic field, the United States provides assistance and improves their standard of living. In the political and strategic fields, the United States, together with Australia and New Zealand, which was bound by the ANZUS defense pact, tried to stem the influx of communist influence from the Soviet Union and China.

Abstract

This article discusses Islamic education and modernity in the Middle East. Modern culture began to be known in Egypt since the emergence of Napoleon Bonaparte in the early 19th century in this country. However, at the time of Muhammad Ali, the transition from traditional education to modern education began. Furthermore, during the Ismail Pasya era, due to the reorganization of culture, traditional education began to compete with advanced secular education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Dealing with Children Detained in Latin America, especially Brazil. The research method used uses qualitative methods. The results found that Brazil is a country with a high number of child laborers in the world. Responding to issues concerning child labor which are quite alarming, the Brazilian government is looking for various solutions to reduce the number of child laborers. The proposed solution is not only the formation of rules and regulations but also practical efforts such as Bolsa Familia. However, to realize this effort to obtain significant results, the government worked with several other international actors.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of workload, work environment, and work stress on the performance of employees of private universities in the city of Bandung, Indonesia. This research uses a descriptive verification method which was conducted on 150 employees of private universities in the city of Bandung. Data collection techniques in this study used questionnaires. Data analysis techniques using correlation analysis, regression, determination and hypothesis testing (t-test). The results of hypothesis testing prove that workload has a negative effect on employee performance, the work environment has a positive effect on employee performance, and work stress has a negative effect on employee performance.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze political interaction in the process of establishing the North Sumatera Province Regional Budget. Research using qualitative research. Research informants 13 people determined by the snowball technique. Secondary data collection uses a literature study; Primary data collection using interview and observation techniques. Data analysis in this study used descriptive analysis and triangulation. Political interaction in the process of establishing the North Sumatera Province APBD is a government communication activity that takes place between executive officials and legislative members in the context of implementing the regional financial management system and become an integral part of government management. Political interactions that occur in the context of establishing regional financial policies for one fiscal year can be either positive or negative. Positive nuance if in the process of political interaction there is a process of interaction of power that is entirely focused on the interests of the community, and it is difficult to find practices of corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN). Negative nuances if in the process of political interaction intertwined a process of interaction of power that is not entirely directed at the interests of the community, and indicates the existence of KKN practices. From the phenomenon of corrupt behavior involving the Governor and a number of North Sumatera Provincial legislative members in the past few years, it is clearly indicated that the process of power interaction between executive officials and legislative members could be an opportunity for KKN. That is, given the fact that power tends to be corrupt, the political interaction that takes place in the determination of the regional budget can provide opportunities for corrupt practices that harm the country and cause the people to be stiff. The new model arranged is Positive Negotiated Budget Political Model with the definition: Positive Negotiated Budget Political Model is a government communication pattern that takes place in the formulation, discussion and determination of budget policies that are entirely in the public interest and anti-corruption, collusion and nepotism revealed from the motive negotiation, the proposition of negotiation and the consequences of negotiations are positive. With this definition, three dimensions of budget politics negotiation are included: (1) Dimensions of positive nuanced budget negotiation motives, (2) Dimensions of positive budget negotiation proposition, (3) Dimensions of the consequences of positive budget negotiation.

Abstract

The research objective is to determine the effect of leadership on government procurement of goods and services, organizational culture of government procurement of goods and services, competence on government procurement of goods and services, leadership influence through organizational culture on government procurement of goods and services, leadership influence through competence on procurement of goods and government services, and formulate new concepts from the results of the discussion of the effects of leadership, organizational culture, and competence on the procurement of government goods and services. The research sample of 104 respondents was taken fully / fully. Data collection in this research uses a literature study, a research questionnaire, and observation. Data analysis using SEM Analysis. The results found that leadership influences Organizational Culture, Leadership influences Competence, Organizational Culture influences Government Procurement of Goods and Services, Competence influences Government Procurement of Goods and Services, and Leadership influences Government Procurement of Goods and Services.

Abstract

This study is about a model of civilizing anti-corruption values in the implementation of programs to strengthen character education in public elementary schools in the district. Gorontalo. The main target of this research is to design a model of the civilization of anti-corruption values in the implementation of character education strengthening programs that can produce products in the form of books to guide educators, parents and the public, especially in Gorontalo district in implementing anti-corruption values which lead to the creation of anti-corruption characters. This research applies the research and development approach. This research also answers specific questions of practical problems through "applied research" to improve educational practices. The study, conducted in January to July 2019, began with collecting initial information through observations in public elementary schools in Gorontalo district, and from various other sources such as the education office, principals, educators, students, parents, and the community. The implementation of the research through stages, preparation begins with the initial observation of the implementation of strengthening character education in schools, collecting data, interviewing analyzing data, reviewing and verifying data, preparing reports, and publicizing. This research uses a data triangulation technique that is combining 3 data collection techniques (observation, interview, and documentation) data analysis carried out during the process in the field together with data collection.

Abstract

This study aims to find the development of new models, using qualitative research designs with descriptive research types. The research informants were carried out by means of interviews, observations and literature studies as the techniques used in collecting data. While data reduction, data retrieval and conclusion drawing became the technical analysis of qualitative data used in this study. The analysis used in this study is an analysis of the implementation of the public policy model of Grindle (1980) and continued with analysis of ASOCA strategies. The results of this study are 1) Implementation of the global development policy Bandar Kayangan Hub can not be implemented optimally 2) Required strategies for problem solving in decision making. From the results of the analysis of the implementation of public policy based on Empirical Findings of ASOCA strategy analysis, a new concept of implementation strategy model 7 P JSRW was obtained, namely: 1) Government role (delegation process), 2) Zoning regulations, 3) Media role in making public opinion 4) The use of local labor, 5) The role of universities in printing experts, 6) Business actors (attracting investors) 7) Fair legal enforcement.
