Abstract

Tantrums are a common behavioural problem experienced by young children, which can result from various factors, including permissive parenting practices. This qualitative case study aims to explore the forms of tantrums displayed by 6-year-old children, identify the factors contributing to these tantrums, and examine the efforts made by parents with permissive parenting styles to manage their children's tantrums. The research design involves descriptive qualitative methods, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation techniques for data collection. Data triangulation is applied to ensure the reliability and validity of the findings. The study reveals that tantrums exhibited by the children in the study include crying, hitting, kicking, screaming, and more. The factors leading to tantrums encompass unfulfilled desires, reprimands, neglect, and teasing. The parents' response to these tantrums involves always fulfilling the child's wishes, even when aggressive behaviour is displayed. Furthermore, parents refrain from providing clear explanations to correct negative behaviour. Sometimes, parents let the child continue their tantrum until it subsides without intervening. These findings highlight the presence and consequences of permissive parenting practices on children's emotional development and behavioural patterns.

This type of research is quantitative with a pre-experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design. The population taken in this study was class 8B students, then the research sample was 6 students. This research instrument uses a learning saturation scale that has been tested for validity and reliability. In addition to the scale, decision making in this study used the normality test and SPSS 26-assisted T test. Based on the results of the study, 6 students had medium and high categories with details of 2 students having high scores and 4 having moderate scores. After being given the service, the 6 students experienced a decrease in score. This can be shown by the pretest score which totaled 344 with a mean of 57.3 then after being given group guidance services the problem-solving technique decreased with a total score of 231 with a mean of 38.5. In addition, based on the results of the sample t test, it is known that the sig. (2 tailed) is 0.001 meaning that 0.001 is less than <0.05, then Ha is accepted, and Ho is rejected. So, it can be concluded that group guidance services with problem solving techniques are effective in preventing student learning saturation.

The number of empathy questionnaires is 60 items. Twenty-one items are invalid, and the remaining 39 will be distributed to respondents. Analysis techniques using t-test analysis. Based on the t-test results, tcount = 8,15 table = 2,110 with a significant level of ? =0,05 and dk=n-1 (25-1=24). From the study results, it can be seen that count? table. So the null hypothesis (Ho), which states “group guidance using game techniques is not effective for increasing the empathy of class X student at Juang Kencana Health Vocational School Sukabumi,” was rejected.
