Abstract

Cisangkuy watershed has an important role as an environmental buffer and water supplier for Bandung city and Bandung district. Quantity and quality of river water need to be maintained in order to fulfill water needs. This study aimed to analyze the performance of SWAT model to predict hydrological response and water quality of Cisangkuy watershed and to analyze hydrological and water quality responses of land use management scenarios implied. The method used is modeling with SWAT hydrological model. The results showed that the model could be used to predict the hydrological response of Cisangkuy watershed with NSE calibration value of 0.38 (satisfactory) and NSE validation value of 0.43 (satisfactory). The establishment protected forest area, Technical Design of Land and Forest Rehabilitation (RTk-RHL) and coffee-based agroforestry scenarios showed a decrease of surface flow, rise in lateral flow and baseflow. Hydrological response of RTRW scenario indicated an increase in the surface flow and a decrease in lateral flow and baseflow. The highest decrease of N-organic, NO3, NH4, and NO2 content is showed by the implication of RTRW scenario.

Abstract

Kondisi DAS Cisangkuy mengalami degradasi yang ditunjukkan dengan semakin seringnya kejadian banjir di musim hujan dan kekeringan di musim kemarau. Beberapa kecamatan di Kabupaten Bandung mengalami banjir tahunan. Pada 2013, banjir setinggi dua meter menyebabkan Kabupaten Baleendah terisolasi. Perubahan penggunaan lahan di DAS Cisangkuy merupakan salah satu penyebab menurunnya kondisi hidrologis. Peningkatan populasi di DAS Cisangkuy menyebabkan peningkatan permintaan air. Perubahan penggunaan lahan dan peningkatan populasi dapat mengancam ketersediaan air baku di DAS Cisangkuy. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis keseimbangan pasokan dan permintaan air DAS Cisangkuy dan untuk menganalisis dampak perubahan penggunaan lahan pada respon hidrologi DAS Cisangkuy. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketersediaan air DAS Cisangkuy dengan debit rata-rata 2015 memiliki jumlah air yang tersedia hingga 343,121,970 m3. Total ketersediaan air hingga 11,104,629,178 m3 pada tahun 2015. Berdasarkan hasil ini, ada defisit air hingga 10,498,001,277 m3 tahun-1.

Abstract

Bengawan Solo river flow through into Madiun Sub Basin causes overflow river and drought. Moreover, relatively unstable water demand causes imbalance of water balance. Potency of flood and drought can be identified based on a water resources status in the studied area. To achieve target it, this research focused on three main stages; firstly, calculating water demand and water availability; secondly, analyzing water balance; and, thirdly, assessing water resources status. Water balance (supply-demand) method has been used to finish three aims or target from this research. Water supply was calculated based on volume of water availability, while total volume of water demand was counted from three water demand sectors, i.e. domestic, industrial, and agricultural. The results showed that the highest the water demand sourced from agricultural sector; meanwhile, the lowest the water demand was from domestic sector. Based on water balance analysis, Madiun Sub Basin has experienced a water deficit in 2012, 2014 and 2015. The most severe water deficit occured in 2012, because river discharge in the research area experienced decreasing during this year. The assessment of water resource status each month in Madiun Sub Basin is predominantly 3; this condition indicated that the region experienced high water stress.

Abstract

Peatland in Indonesia covers about 7% of the Indonesia land area. It also is facing some challenges especially related to land conversion and peat utilization. By law, utilization of peatlands can be done on specific peatland area and drainage canal is developed to lowering the water table. Therefore, the monitoring of peat water depth (TMA) should be established in order to minimize the negative impact of peatland utilization. However, to save time and cost it is necessary to have a model that can estimate the peat water table from its physical properties. The aim of this study is to develop a model for estimating TMA by using from the physical character of peatland. Then, it can be used as an early warning system to prevent fire that might occur. The confidence set of model was chosen by using the Akaike Information Criteria with a small sample sound (AICc). The results shows a confidence set of model consists of four models which includes bulk density at the depth of 0-50 cm, fiber content at the depth of 50-100 cm and the peat depth as model predictors. The model also showed a good agreement with the field measurement with the RMSE of 16.2 cm and R2 of 81%. This study suggests the critical peat water table depth to prevent fire is about 74 cm. Therefore, the condition of TMA should be maintained shallower than this level, otherwise the peat fire might occur.

Abstract

Adding organic fertilizer such as vermicompost can be done to overcome the deficiency problem of soil organic matter. One of the worm species which can be used in vermicomposting is Eudrilus eugeniae. Purpose of this research was to know how the combination of cow dung and rice straw impacts vermicompost quality from organic carbon, N, P, total K, urease enzyme activity and vermicompost production. Treatment that used in this research is randomized completely design with 4 treatments. The treatments are P1: feed 400 g of cow dung, P2: feed 400 g of rice straw, P3: feed 280 g of cow dung and 120 g of rice straw, and P4: feed 140 g of cow dung and 60 g of rice straw. The research result shows that real treatment impacts all parameters on the produced vermicompost. Production result is determined by ratio value of output/input (O/I). Quality and production of vermicompost on P4 is a treatment with the best result. It is because the combination of cow dung and rice straw gives a relatively complete macro nutrient result and the higher feed dose will gives higher vermicompost production.

Abstract

Loss of nutrients through surface runoff and erosion carried from agricultural land, is a major cause of agricultural land degradation. The purpose of this study was to analize nutrients loss from oil palm plantation caused by erosion. This study was carried out using erosion plots measuring 12 m x 3 m consisting a combination of two factors: type of oil palm inter-row and slope. Surface runoff and erosion values in the active inter-row was higher than those in death inter-row. The nutrients loss of N, P, and K from soil eroded in active inter-row were respectively 0.04; 0.11 and 0.10 ton ha-1 year-1. The total nutrient losses (N, P, K) in dead inter-row were 0.007; 0.024 dan 0.023 ton ha-1 year-1.

Abstract

Landslide is one of the disasters that often hit Indonesia. Data collected from BPBD Office of Bogor City also shows that landslide events ranked first out of 6 types of disasters in Bogor City; in 2017 there were 179 landslides (40.5%) of the 442 recorded disaster events. To support development programs in the city, landslide risk research is needed. This study aimed to assess and map the risk of landslides in Bogor City and formulate mitigation recommendations. The method used is the Multi Criteria Evaluation where the weights and scores of each parameter are obtained from the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results obtained show that the highest level of susceptibility and landslide hazard is in the South Bogor District, this is in accordance with the landform conditions in the region, where 60.5% of the area has landforms with steep slopes i.e. denudational volcanic cones, river banks, and valleys with alluvial terrace. However, for the highest risk, the extent area is located in North Bogor District. This is due to the dominance of residential and high population, so the vulnerability factor is an indicator of rising risk values. For Bogor City which is dominant with residential, recommended mitigation include 3 types of engineering, namely civil, vegetative, and social for medium and high risk classes. Bogor Selatan sub-district in this case is the district with the most extensive area to implement mitigation measures.

Abstract

Lahar merupakan proses alami, namun menjadi berbahaya jika memberikan dampak bagi manusia dan lingkungan. Lahar yang terjadi karena hujan dengan intensitas tinggi dan membentuk aliran merupakan bahaya sekunder gunung api. Gunungapi Sinabung yang meletus pada tahun 2010 hingga saat ini telah mengeluarkan material piroklastik lebih dari seratus juta kubik yang siap menjadi aliran lahar. Untuk mengantisipasi aliran lahar, perlu diketahui pola hujan di sekitar Gunungapi Sinabung. Informasi pola hujan dapat digunakan untuk menyusun rencana mitigasi menghadapi aliran lahar Gunungapi Sinabung. Analisis pola hujan menggunakan data hasil pengukuran Stasiun Klimatologi Sampali, Stasiun Geofisika Parapat dan Stasiun Geofisika Tuntungan dari tahun 2000 sampai dengan tahun 2017. Data curah hujan diuji dengan Rentang Buishand untuk mengetahui homogenitasnya, kemudian distribusi curah hujan ditampilkan dalam diagram batang. Analisis trend menggunakan regresi linier sederhana dengan waktu sebagai peubah bebas dan curah hujan sebagai peubah tak bebas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola hujan di Gunungapi Sinabung merupakan pola hujan equatorial dengan dua puncak musim hujan pada bulan Mei dan Oktober. Analisis trend kenaikan curah hujan yang cukup tinggi juga terjadi pada bulan Mei, sehingga upaya mitigasi menghadapi aliran lahar perlu ditingkatkan pada bulan Mei dan Oktober.
