Focus and Scope FOCUS Jurnal Pendidikan Islam Indonesia (JPII) is a peer-reviewed journal providing a forum for educators, education leaders, scholars, students, and policymakers to address the current topics in education and Indonesian Islamic education from a global perspective; especially about pesantren. The journal focuses on the issues of Islamic Education in Southeast Asia. JPII publishes original academic articles dealing with relevance in educational theory, methodology, and practice. Papers should focus on studies and systematic analysis that employ qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, research and development (RnD), and theoretical methodologies from an international scope. Both pedagogical and andragogical perspectives in teaching and learning are welcome. <![CDATA[This article describes the role of an Islamic boarding school in character education in the era of globalization. This article used a literature research approach. In this research, Islamic boarding school had been able to have a role in the students’ character building supported by the main figure who is a Kiai. It can not be separated from the role of a teacher/Kiai in producing students who have noble character. The role of Islamic boarding school in character education is Islamic boarding school as guardian and preserver of religious values; Islamic boarding school as the innovator of religious understanding; and as inspirer, motivator, and dynamist of development implementation at the local and regional levels.]]>

<![CDATA[E-learning has an important role in Islamic Education learning. Students are expected to not only listening to the explanation of the material from the teacher but also playing an active role in learning by applying e-learning. This study aims to analyze the implementation of learning based e-learning in Islamic Education course. The method used in this research was qualitative descriptive. The subject of this study was SMK 8 Surabaya students for the Islamic Education course. The data collection method had been done by interview and documentation. Data analysis had been done by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and making conclusions. The results of this study were the researcher found three stages in learning-based e-learning in the Islamic Education course, which is planning stage, implementation stage, and evaluation stage.]]>

<![CDATA[This research was motivated by the poor of students’ ability in class X IPS SMA Al-Falah Dago in reading and writing Al-Qur'an (BTAQ). It aims, first, to know how the objective conditions of their Al-Qur'an reading ability. Second, to find out how to apply the tahsin method to improve their Al-Qur'an reading ability. Third, to find out how is the effect of the tahsin method implementation to improve their Al-Qur'an reading ability. It was a quantitative study using the experimental method. The results of this study had indicated that the implementation of the tahsin method had a significant effect on improving their Al-Qur'an reading ability which is applicable to the correct makharijul huruf and tajwid rules. The teacher was using classical reading and listening (KBS) in the teaching and learning process. They also were participating to exemplify good reading and to justify the students' reading.]]>

<![CDATA[Religious education for Muslim is Islamic Education originating from Al-Qur’an dan As Sunnah. This study elucidates the dynamic of the change and development of Islamic education in the era after the death of the prophet Muhammad shallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam, especially in the period of Khulafāur Rāsyidīn. It was revealed how the education system had been implemented in each caliphate and the situation having influenced the educational system. The finding showed that the pattern of the education in the era of caliph Abu Bakar radhīyallāhu ‘anhu was generally still same as the system applied in the era of the prophet of Muhammad shallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam. The massive development occurred in the period of caliph Umar bin Khatab radhīyallāhu ‘anhu which was continued with the caliph Utsman bin Affan radhīyallāhu ‘anhu. Nevertheless, there were some fundamental changes, especially in the regulation as well as the education method.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to determine the implications of the natural disposition concept in Islam for achieving the objectives of National Education. The conclusion of this research shows that teachers will help Indonesian people easily in achieving the goals of National Education when they have understood the natural disposition concept. The education process begins with understanding the natural disposition concept of humans who has a basis, nature, character, and the potential way of working. Three approaches are needed in the educational process. They are the philosophical tauhid approach, chronological approach, and functional approach. This research used a descriptive-analytic appoach with a literature study to examine the natural disposition concept in Islam and its Implications in achieving the objectives of National Education.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to analyze the teachers' manners contained in the book of Adab al-Alim wa al-Muta’allim by K.H.M. Hasyim Asya'ari from a psychological perspective. This study was a qualitative study with a literature review approach. These manners had been classified into several categories and then were analyzed with a psychological perspective. The results showed that, first, the teachers' manners could be classified into 6 categories. They are manners related to inner behavior, prayer and practical deed, exemplary, scientific competence, good relationship, and teaching techniques. Second, After had been analyzed from a psychological perspective, the results showed that manners being related to inner behavior, prayer, and practical deed were relevant with al-Quran dan al-Hadits; manners being related to exemplary and scientific competence were associated with Bandura's social cognitive theory; manners being related to a good relationship and teaching techniques were linked with the theory of cognitivism and humanism.]]>

<![CDATA[Humans are the perfect creation of Allah SWT. It lies within their mind. Moreover, they also have the brain as a control center for all human activities. This article aims to explain the concepts of al-quran and neuroscience as well as the study of the brain and mind in al-quran and neuroscience. The approach used was qualitative of Creswell model library research. Data sources were obtained from the literature in the fields of the brain and mind, al-quran and neuroscience. Data collection techniques had used Sugiyono model. The data analysis technique had used Moleong analysis model. The results of this study indicated that if humans use their brains and mind to think properly and correctly, they would be able to provide and to create new ideas in solving various problems. After humans are even more aware, they would increase the faith and devotion to Allah.]]>

<![CDATA[Islamic education has many objectives. It also includes the construction of students’ noble character. Students should be able to understand and be able to build a noble character with the dhuha prayer habituation. This study aims to determine how is the relationship between dhuha prayer habituation and the students’ morals in SMA Negeri 2 Kota Bogor. The method in this research used a quantitative approach. The data collection techniques in this research used questionnaires. The results of this research were with df in the amount of 77, with the value of r table at a significant level of 5%, these were known that r table 5% = 0.221. Therefore the research hypothesis stated that the Pearson Correlation (0.667)> r table (0.221). So that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted by stating that there was a positive relationship between the practice of dhuha prayer and student morals, which is 44.5%.]]>

<![CDATA[The process of education always goes through dynamic stages. It always adapts to the atmosphere of the students' conditions and current development. Therefore the reconstruction of Islamic education’s purpose is very important. Especially during the era of al-Kilani and Ahmad Dahlan, both of them met their respective concerns so that they thought to modify and to change Islamic education’s purpose. This article aims to find the standpoint of their version of Islamic education’s purpose. It was library research that referred to the sources of related literature and was processed using comparative descriptive analysis. The finding showed that there were similarities between them, such as first, the similarity in the setting of purpose formulation. Second, there were also similarities in the basic foundation for their educational purpose which are Al-Qur'an and Al-Hadith. However, there were a few differences from their standpoint such as in aspects of educational background and intellectual heritage.]]>
