Guiding students to prepare optimal results in the competency test, one of which is mentoring. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of mentoring and emotional freedom technique (M-EFT) on the readiness and anxiety of nurse students to face the competency test. Method: This study is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental research design with a pre-test and post-test approach with a control group with a statistical test used, namely the Mann Whitney test. The population in this study were nursing students from two institutions, namely the Muhammadiyah Palembang Institute of Health and Technology and the Musi Charitas Catholic University Palembang with a total sample of 153 people. Results:There is a significant effect (0.001) of the intervention of mentoring and emotional freedom technique (M-EFT) on the readiness and anxiety of co-ners students to face the competency test. Conclusions: there is a significant effect of M-EFT on students' readiness and anxiety to face the competency test. It is hoped that the M-EFT intervention can be used as an alternative method in overcoming the problem of learning readiness and anxiety in co-ners in educational institutions.

Abstract

Introduction: Resilience in a learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic is a distinct experience and challenge, thus, a resilience strategy is needed. This study aims to explore the experiences and strategies for resilience in the learning process of undergraduate nursing students during the Covid-19 pandemic in Bali.Method: This study is cross-sectional with an exploratory qualitative approach. A purposive sampling technique was applied to recruit the participants from July to September 2022, with the criteria that they had been undergoing the learning process for a minimum of one semester during the Covid-19 pandemic. There were 24 participants from five nursing education institutions in Bali. They were interviewed to gain data saturation. The data from in-depth verbal, non-verbal interviews, and other supporting documents were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: There were 4 themes, 14 categories, and 52 codes emerging during the analysis. The experiences of the participants included the learning process and the problems faced during the Covid-19 pandemic such as physical, psychological, and social problems. Meanwhile, the resilience strategies were carried out with internal motivation, external motivation, independent learning, doing hobbies, and taking a rest. Conclusions: This study illustrated that resilience strategies were needed to achieve the goal of nursing learning. Nursing education institutions can potentially create innovations in nursing learning methods that are more communicative and interactive to minimize physical, psychological, and social problems, especially in the learning process during the pandemic transition to the Covid-19 endemic.

There were 232 nursing students who participated in this study. The collection data were conducted via online survey using Beliefs and Values Scale (BVS)no and Spiritual Care-Giving Scale (SCGS) tools. The data were analyzed with SPSS. Bivariate analysis with Spearman’s Correlation Coefficient was used to investigate the association between BVS score and SCGS score. Results: The result showed that participants have strong spiritual belief (median: 70) and good perception of spirituality and spiritual care (median: 172). Additionally, a significant relationship of the two variables was found (p-value: 0,000).Conclusions: The spirituality of nursing students should be concerned by nursing education system. This matter seems to be important to prepare nursing students in applying spiritual care in clinical setting.

Abstract

Introduction: The nursing education curriculum requires students to achieve effective communication competence, including handover using the SBAR method. High-fidelity learning media is needed that is able to internalize the experience of activities as in their realization. Learning media with Virtual Dry Lab (VDL) can display multimedia learning, both audio, visual, video, text and interactive quizzes that can be accessed online. This study aims to determine the effect of Virtual Dry Lab on Handover Compliance with the SBAR Method for Nursing Students.Method: This study used a pre-experimental design with an Intact Group Comparison design among 58 of nursing students (29 of control and intervention groups). The time given for giving VDL to the intervention group and giving lectures to the control group was 100 minutes. This research instrument used an observation sheet that describes the handover stages as many as 16 steps. The data were analyzed using the Man-Whitney non-parametric test. Results: Result showed that p=0.279 so that there was no significant difference between the intervention group and the control group. Meanwhile, mean of intervention group is 82.75 (SD±14.23), mean of control group is 76.93 (SD±18.75).Conclusion: Compared to lecture and discussion method, VDL has no significant different on students’ compliance on using Handover with SBAR. It implies that VDL has the same effect as the lecture learning method for students’ compliance on using SOP Handover with SBAR. Thus, VDL can be used as a substitution method for lecture and discussion.
