Abstract

This  research  aims  to  find  out  the  income  and the Return Cost  Ratio  (R/C)  maintenance  of  Bali cattle business in Muaro Jambi Regency. This research used survey methods. Object  of research is the  Bali cattle  ranchers  PMUK  Program  Tunas  Jaya  farmer  groups  in  the  Village  of  Kebun  IX,   Muaro  Jambi. Respondents  of  this  research  of  11  Bali  cattle  ranchers  who  obtained  the  census.   The  analysis  used  is deskriptive analysis. To find out the income and Return Cost Ratio of the Bali cattle maintenance effort using the analysis of income (Rahim, 2007). Outpouring of work hours that are used in beef cattle raising activities then used  his standard working hours (JKP) according to Siregar (1996). While the cost  of cages and their equipments  with depreciation  calculation.  Results  showed,  that  the  maintenance  of  Bali  cattle  from  11 respondents (100%) is still a side business, and includes a category of patterns of family farming, with cattle ownership on average 5.61 ST / breeder. In maintaining cattle ranchers are still in the average age of 43.64 years (29-65) years including labor that is still produktiv age. Based on research results that the maintenance effort of Bali  cattle in Farmers Branch, Jaya can earn  positive income ie the average  of Rp. 4,950,953.65, -/year/farmer or an average of Rp. 412.579,47.-/ year/farmer.-. While the comparison (ratio) between revenue and expenses (Return Cost Ratio (R / C)) the income of Rp. 272,302,450, -/periode with expenditure (cost)  maintenance of Rp. 218,751,550, -/periode is the ratio of 1.24. This gives the sense that every capital of Rp 100, - it will generate income of  Rp 124, -

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know about response some superior grass that is groun up with gaps in palm oil plants and compore in with superior grass that  groun up without gaps in oil palm plants. This research  uses  three  kind  of  superior  grass.  They  are king  grass  (Pennisetum  purpupoides),  elephant  grass (Pennisetum purpureum) and setaria grass (Setaria splendida). The method that is  used in this research is descriptive statistics and than diversity trial done by using test t  to compore the result which is gotten with gaps or  without gaps in palm oil plants (Steel and Torrrie, 1993). The research results shown that quantity of smaller variant plants , high plants and forage dry matter production that groun up with gaps in palm oil plants is not different clearly ( p > 0.05) with forage that is groun up without gaps in palm oil plants. Based on research result, we can conclude that king grass, elephant grass and setaria grass growth which groun up with gaps in palm oil is not different clearly with this plants that groun up without gaps in palm oil.

Abstract

The aims of this experiment were to  identify and characterize of sediment product from cattle rumen liquor as a source of amino acids, minerals and vitamins. The sediment were obtained as pellets upon centrifugation of rumen liquor at 10,000 g for 10 minutes for collection of supernatant. The sediment were evaluated for amino acids, minerals and vitamins composition and chararacterized for the pH,  solubility of dry matter, specific density, bulk and compacted bulk densities and angle of response. Result of the experiment showed that sediment contained higher minerals:  Na, K and Fe compared with the commercial premix, but lower in B-vitamins and amino acids. The composition of mineral Na, K, and Fe from rumen liquor of local cattle was 13.47%, 7.73 % and 14.52 %,  while Na, K, and Fe from  rumen liquor of  imported cattle was 18.40%, 10.25%, and 14.52% respectively. The sediment had pH range from 10.01-10.03, the dry matter solubility  was 35.5% up to 39.1%. The sediment from imported cattle had higher specific density, bulk and compacted bulk densities and angle of response than that of local cattle. It is concluded that sediment from cattle rumen liquor contained high Na, K and Fe, low amino acids and B-vitamin, high pH and low solubility.
