Aqwal: Journal of Quranic and Hadith Studies is a peer-reviewed (double-blind), open-access journal published biannualiy (Juni and Desember) by Ilmu Al-Qur’an-Tafsir (IAT) and Hadith (ILHA)Program, Faculty Ushuluddin, Adab and Da’wah, K.H Abdurrahman Wahid State Islamic University Pekalongan since 2020. Aqwal invites students, scholars and researchers to contribute the result of their studies and researches. This Journal is aims to Quranic and Hadith studies which covers original research and literatur review with various focus of linguistic (semantic, semiotic, stilistic qiroaat, nadhom), philosophy (hermeneutic), local wisdom studies, environment, gender, and others. This journal, serving as a forum for the study of Quranic and Hadith in Asian and other parts of the world within its local and challenging global context, supports focused Hadith studies of particular theme and multidisciplinary studies. Al-Aqwal has become a medium of exchange of ideas and research findings from various traditions.

Abstract

The emergence of Youtube is a sign of the presence of new media in interpreting the Qur'an. This article aims to analyze the interpretation of the Qur'an by M. Quraish Shihab, who uses YouTube as his medium, which was conveyed in the Ramadan talk show “Tafsir al-Misbah” on Metro TV, especially the episode of the interpretation of the Quran Surah al-Nisâ' verse 153. The purpose of the research seeks to find out the meaning of justice in QS. An-Nisa verse 135, and also an analysis of Quraish Shihab's interpretation of the command to uphold justice and testify in the verse. While this article is written using qualitative methods with analytical descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that the interpretation conveyed by M Quraish Shihab through Youtube has characteristics that focus on linguistic approaches presented in a thematic form, with the nuances of adab-ijtima'i, bi ra'yi, and discussion in generally and globally. This is what the writing contributes to fill in the gaps where the discussion of interpretation is usually concerned with the book of interpretation. According to him, justice is an order to uphold justice and be fair in witnessing with near perfection.

Abstract

Tulisan ini berjudul “Bunyi pada Fawasil Ayat dan Kaitannya dengan Makna: Kajian Fonetik Alquran pada Q.S al-Buruj”, bertujuan untuk mengkaji keindahan bunyi yang dihasilkan dari fawasil ayat Q.S al-Buruj dan kaitannya dengan makna yang terkandung di dalam ayatnya. Karena setiap huruf di dalam Alquran adalah mukjizat yang membuktikan bahwa Alquran adalah kalamullah. Tulisan ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis persentase dengan pendekatan fonetik, yaitu suatu kajian yang membahas tentang bunyi bahasa tanpa membedakan artinya. Adapun kesimpulan dari tulisan ini adalah bahwa fawasil ayat menjadi bukti kefasihan Alquran yang menjelaskan bahwa Alquran tidak datang dari lisan manusia. Keindahan fawasil ayat Q.S al-Buruj terletak pada huruf terakhir yang membentuk sajak dan suku kata terakhir yang menghasilkan bunyi panjang. Selain itu, bunyi-bunyi huruf pada fawasil ayat berkaitan dengan kandungan maknanya. Sangat terlihat perbedaannya ketika Alquran menjelaskan dua hal yang berlawanan yaitu tentang balasan bagi orang-orang kafir dan balasan bagi orang-orang mukmin yang disuarakan dengan bunyi hambat dan bunyi getaran.

Abstract

The background of this research is the lack of attention of parents towards their children because parents are too busy with their activities then children feel less affection. This study aims to find out how the historical side of the concept of parenting in surah Luqman verses 12-19 and its contextualization in the present. This article is a type of qualitative research with a library research approach using Fazlur Rahman's double movement theory. The subject of this research is parenting verses in surah luqman verses 12-19. Data will be collected using documentation techniques and data will be analyzed using a systematic-literature review. Based on research conducted by processing various existing data, two results have been obtained, first, from a historical perspective in surah Luqman verses 12-19, it contains 8 points of wisdom, parents teach their children to be grateful, children have a monotheistic spirit, chidren do birrul walidain to parents, all children’s actions will be rewarded, children must be discipline in praying, children don’t be arrogant, children may be good in behavior and polite, and children must be honest and open. Second, contextualization in parenting which produces 8 points consists of two forms, both are the form of spiritual parenting and the form of social parenting.

Abstract

The hadith about maẖram for a woman's journey is one of the social phenomena debated in Islam. Some read it through a textual approach and some read it in a contextual framework. For this reason, a new alternative reading is needed that is felt responsive in the contextual realm when discussing the hadith, with the new Saudi Arabian rules regarding allowing women to go alone without a mahram. The result is that the role of maẖram in this hadith is a form of concrete prevention for women against all violence that will befall them. Such prevention is not only carried out by the woman's immediate family but also by instruments created by the state and can also be referred to as maẖram, so this approach encapsulates its meaning contextually but does not leave the maẖram ati textually.

Abstract

This article aims to understand the isbāl contained in the hadiths of the Prophet and give birth to the phenomenon of dress itself among the people. Thus, the focus is on how the hadiths of the Prophet provide information about isbāl and its meaning. In addition, bangaimana responds to phenomena that occur in the community. The description of this article shows that Isbāl is the behavior of lengthening clothing beyond the ankles. The isbāl controversy was born because of the existence of substantive contradictory hadiths of the Prophet. The hadith that advocates and forbids gives birth to differences in views and meanings of isbāl itself. Therefore, the understanding of Isbāl hadith must use the approach of contradictory hadiths which in Islamic treasures is referred to as the science of mukhtalif al-ḥadīṡ. Sociologically-anthropologically, claim-truth is a fundamental factor in the controversy over the practice of dressing with isbāl.

Abstract

Kepemimpinan perempuan tidak pernah berakhir didiskusikan. Beberapa pertimbangan teologis Islam selalu menjadi alasan utama untuk mendukung kesetaraan antara laki-laki dan perempuan. Dalam Artikel ini mencoba untuk menyajikan analisis tekstual dan kontekstual tentang kepeminpinan perempuan di tanah public. Hal ini karena berdasarkan pemahaman secata tekstual terhadap sunah Nabi dan opini dari sebagian ulama Muslim secara buruk menyatakan bahwa dalam kepemimpinan perempuan dalam urusan politik dilarang. Namun berdasarkan pemahaman secara kontekstual tidak demikian dengan syarat mampu mengemban amanah. Sejajar Islam mencatat Aisyah, al-Syifa dan Ratu Balqis termasuk segelintir pemimpin perempuan yang menduduki jabatan public. Oleh karena itu secara kontekstual harus terlebih dahulu dipertimbangkan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan masalah kepemimpinan perempuan terbagi menjadi dua, ada yang membolehkan dan ada yang melarangnya. Perbedaan pendekatan yang digunakan dalam memahami hadis tersebut menjadi dasar. Kelompok pertama mendekati secara tekstual dan kelompok kedua secara kontekstual.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the proper practice of enforcing the ban on taking pictures in millennial life. especially the hadiths regarding the prohibition of taking pictures. The limitations of this research include the proper practice of turning on the ban on taking pictures in millennial life. The issues examined in this study are: (1) textual analysis of the hadith of the Prophet prohibiting drawing. (2) Contextual analysis of the hadith of the Prophet prohibiting drawing (3) Proper practice in reviving the hadith of the Prophet prohibiting drawing in the present. The conclusions of this study are (1) the hadith that we examined is a hadith that contains God's threat to painters, especially painters whose painting objects are animate creatures, (2) Scholars differ on what criteria will be affected by the threat. However, some opinions say that this threat only applies to painters whose work resembles God's creation, (3) taking pictures is an activity that is permissible, and it becomes something good if it has a positive impact. However, taking pictures can be illegal if the content created has a negative impact and also violates Islamic sharia provisions

Abstract

The process of understanding is a natural process that will be experienced by all human beings. Including the mufassir can not be separated from the activity of understanding. In the study of the Koran, active understanding activities are carried out, including Imam al-Baidawi. Anwar At-Tanzil Wa Asrar At-Ta'wil is a book that has received a lot of praise and criticism from scholars. This paper is intended to find out the hermeneutical thoughts of Imam al-Baidawi and his interpretation related to surah al-Baqarah verse 177 because at first glance the public sees this verse as a postulate for moving the Qibla from the Aqsa Mosque to Mecca, namely the direction of the Kaaba. This article is a qualitative type of article with a Schleiermacher hermeneutic approach. The subject of this article is the hermeneutical thinking of Imam al-Baidawi and sura al-Baqarah verse 177. The research results of this article are hermeneutical thinking in the art of understanding Imam al-Baidawi with a subjective view by using grammatical interpretation and prejudice of the mufassir based on his experience and al-birr in Surah al-Baqarah verse 177 means obeying all God's commands is a virtue which then gives birth to muttaqun indicators.

Abstract

This paper discusses the Sufistic nuanced and Javanese language interpretation written using Arabic Pegon by Kyai Haji Sholeh Darat. The focus of the discussion is on Tafsir Faid Al Rahman. Kyai Sholeh Darat's interpretation has Isyārī elements. In this paper, there are three problem formulations that will be discussed by the author, namely first, how the method used in the book of interpretation of Faid Al-Rahman. Second, how is the locality aspect in the interpretation. Third, what are the examples of the Sufistic elements in this interpretation? This study uses a hermeneutic approach. The type of research is a type of library research or library research. In this paper it is concluded that Faid Al-Rahman's interpretation has a nuanced Sufistic characteristic written in the Javanese Pegon language using the tahlili method. This is inseparable from the social and cultural conditions inherent in the community around the mufassir. As for examples of interpretation, for example related to halal and unlawful food. Which interpretation has an outer and inner meaning.

Abstract

This article attempts to examine the methodology of interpretation in the classic commentary text by Abdullah bin Wahb al-Mishri, namely the book al-Jami' Tafsir al-Qur'an. This is motivated by the existence of a study of ancient manuscripts attributed to Ibn Wahb through transmission. The object of study is al-Jami' Tafsir al-Qur'an by Abdullah bin Wahb al-Mishri which is the result of research (tahqiq and ta'liq) from Miklos Muranyi in 1939. By using a qualitative-descriptive method, this article concludes that: the method used by Abdullah bin Wahb al-Miṣrī can be viewed from 4 points of view; sources of interpretation using bi al-ra'yī, the breadth of explanation uses ijmālī, the goals and systematics use mauḍū'ī and the tendency of interpretation uses bi al-riwāyah. These results indicate that the book of commentaries does not only use a single method in its preparation so that al-Miṣrī makes his book an answer that the compilation of the book of interpretations of the Qur'an is not single, but mono-method, or in methodological terms using comparisons.
