But scope does not coverage biology education in elementary school, more preferred in Senior high school, university, and society. Article published is the results of research.

Abstract

Problem Based Learning model teached students to increase environmental literacy and formulate solutions to environmental problems. Environmental literacy is a conscious attitude to pay attention and maintain the environment so that it was always maintained, sustainable, and maintained in balance. The conscious attitude in question was a sensitive attitude towards the environment and knowing the problems that occured. Someone who has knowledge about the environment, is not only limited to theory, but also able to be responsive and agile in overcoming various problems that occur in the surrounding environment. This study aims to analyze the effect of Problem Based Learning on environmental literacy in class X students of SMA Negeri 2 West Halmahera and to analyze the increase in environmental literacy of class X students of SMA Negeri 2 West Halmahera with the application of Problem Based Learning. This type of research is quantitative research using quasi-experiments (Quasi Experiments). The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 West Halmahera, Gam Ici street, Central Ibu district. The population used in this study were students of SMA Negeri 2 West Halmahera, with samples from class X C and class X D. The data and data sources in this study were pretest and posttest questions, teacher and student observation sheets, and environmental care attitude questionnaires. Data collection techniques in research using observation and tests. The data collected, then analyzed by prerequisite test (normality and homogeneity test), hypothesis test and N-Gain test.Keywords: Development of LKS, Tridacna, Widi Island

Abstract

Brochures can be used as interesting learning resources in classroom learning, because of their simple and practical form. There are many studies on fish analysis and morphometric analysis, but so far, researchers have not found any results related to the morphometric results of fish caught by fishermen in Dufa-dufa Village. The type of research used is qualitative research and then continued with Research and Development (R&D) research with a 4-D model. The population in this study were all types of fish caught by fishermen from Dufa-dufa Village on each ship. The sample in this study was each species of fish taken from the catches of fishermen in Dufa-dufa Village, where three fish samples were taken from each type of fish whose weight was not too much different from other fish. The data analysis technique used is morphometric data analysis and analysis of the validity of brochure teaching materials. Based on the measurement of the morphometric character of each fish, it shows that the one with the largest morphometric size is tuna in sample 3 of the catches of the fishermen group at PPI with an average total length of 39.7 cm and the smallest morphometric size is mackerel in sample 3 of the catches of fishermen. at Fishbone Beach with a total length of 16 cm. The validity of the Pisces morphometric material brochure that was developed shows the "valid" category. This means that the brochure teaching materials are suitable for use in schools as teaching materials in learning.Keywords: Morphometric Analysis, Teaching Materials, Brochures, Fish, Fishermen.

Abstract

Utilization of sikkam bark (Bischofia javanica Blume), has benefits as a mixed ingredient in the manufacture of Dayok Nabinatur. There are plants used to make the food, namely: Sikkam wood, grated coconut, galangal, ginger, lemongrass, shallots, garlic, bay leaves, peppercorns, red chilies. Sikkam also has benefits as herbal medicines. Seikkam is also a tree that has a height of 40m, a trunk diameter of 95-150cm, the trunk is straight, usually hard and strong. The leaves are green in color, 4-8 inches long and 7-22 mm thick, the leaf shape is oval, three-lobed and tapers to the tip of the leaf. The location of the leaves is spiral/circular, has long petioles (3-8 inches) edges serrated to finely serrated, leaf pinnate, glossy upper side. The fruit does not break down, is round, gummy, 1.2-1.5 cm in diameter, bluish-black when ripe, with 1-2 seeds in each chamber, oval brown seeds, 5 mm long. Abstract

This research aims to know the effect of the observation method used toward the classification ability of student in grade X. This research was conducted in the first semester of academic year 2015/2016 in october-november, SMAN 7 Bekasi. The method used quasi experiment method. Population in this research were all students of X MIA class at SMAN 7 Bekasi 2015/2016, the sample were X MIA 4 class with 30 pupils and X MIA 5 with 32 pupils. The research sample was taken by cluster random sampling technique. The instrument used in this research were test instrument. Instrument test contains 20 questions of the classification ability, the instrument has been tested with the validity teste in XI IPA 1. The research exhibit that the type of classification ability was more controlled by the experimental class. It can be seen in the persentage owned by the experimental class in each indicator of the ability of classification, with the largest percentage in catagorizing indicators at 87,22%. The average value of the experimental group was 77,30 with a standard deviation at 9,16 and an average value in the control group was 57,03 with a standard deviation at 8,96. In the t test of the calculation results obtained value thit = 8,95 and t0,99 = 2,66. Because it was greater than t table then H0 rejected and H1 accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there are significant observations of the ability to use the classification method in class X on the matter of biodiversity in SMAN 7 Bekasi.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of the relationship between students' learning interest with concepts mastery. This research was conducted at SMAN 7 Bekasi in East Jakarta. The population of this study is 35 students at eleventh grade of SMAN 7 MIA in East Jakarta Bekasi academic year 2014/2015. The sampling technique was cluster random sampling. The sample in this research is eleventh grade of MIA 2. This study uses a quantitative correlation approach associative. Data analysis technique used is linear regression. Both variables do not have a linear relationship (F_hit = 1.25 < F0, 99 (16/17) = 3.27) with the regression equation is y = 81.57 + -0,46x. Its mean that every one time improving learning will increase the ability of mastering the concept of 0.54. The calculation results obtained r_hit correlation coefficient = -0.26 < r0,95 (33) = 0.334 which means that Ho is accepted. It was concluded that there was no relationship between the students’ learning interest with the concept mastery.

Abstract

Independent campus is the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) program organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture. This study aims to determine whether through MBKM the soft-skills of biology education study program students have increased. this research is a type of quantitative descriptive research. data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires distributed to biology education study program students who take part in the MBKM program. The results showed that the existence of MBKM activities had a good impact on improving the hard-skills and soft-skills of students, which could be seen from a number of respondents' answers, namely: 1) the ability to follow the MBKM program online; 2) the ability to adapt to new friends; 3) the ability to discuss, collaborate, provide advice in teams/groups; 4) the ability to use technological media; 5) the ability to analyze problems and solve problems in teams/groups; 6) the ability to make decisions with consideration of comparing opinions with one another; 7) the ability to follow the rules in MBKM activities as an attitude to improve learning discipline, besides that the improvement of hard-skills and soft-skills through the MBKM program can be seen in the Student Report obtained after the MBKM program is completed which lists the competency scores of hard-skills and soft-skills. Keywords: Biology Education Study Program Students, Merdeka Learning Merdeka Campus (MBKM), Soft Skills

Abstract

Strong self-efficacy can increase students’ sense of comfort and confidence in providing arguments. A preliminary study that was completed in 2020 offers an indication that typically, the average self-efficacy of Biology Tadris students at IAIN Ternate is in the poor group (43.37). The objective of this study was to identify Biology students’ self-efficacy after the implementation of WE-ARe (Warm-up, Exploring, Argumentation, Resume). A quantitative study design was used. The study population comprised of all Biology Tadris students at IAIN Ternate, North Maluku, whereas the research sample consisted of 50 fourth semester students from the same university. Data were collected using a self-efficacy questionnaire that was confirmed to be valid and reliable. Descriptive statistical analysis was performed to examine the participants’ self-efficacy by adding together the scores of all questionnaire items/statements. The results of the study and data analysis showed that the total self-efficacy score of biology students in WE-ARe classroom was in the "confident enough" group (mean 80.21). The WE-ARe learning model can improve student confidence and help create a good atmosphere in the classroom so that pupils acquire an optimistic attitude towards learning success. The steps of the WE-ARe model (Warm-up, Exploring, Argumentation, Resume) can stimulate the self-efficacy of students from the Department of Biology. This study is expected to contribute to the improvement of student learning motivation and the quality of instructional design that is focused on building student self-confidence. Keywords: Biology students, Model WE-ARe model, Implementation, Self-Efficacy.

Abstract

The research was aimed to know the effect model of  cooperative learning type group investigation (GI) toward critical thinking ability of students grade X on the material ecosystems at Senior High School 66 South Jakarta. The research was conducted in March 24 until May 20, 2016. The method used Quasi Eksperimental, design Pretest – Posttest Contol Group Design. The population in this study were all students of class X MIA (total 108 siswa), through sampling by using Cluster Random Sampling. The instrument used essay test as much as 10 question integrated with six indicator critical thinking ability (formulate problems, argues, make deductions, induction, evaluating, and take decisions and actions). The result showed that N-gain average critical thinking ability in experiment class was (  = 32,36) it was higher than control class (  = 18,97). The hypotesis test with t test (sig 1%) eamed value thit (7,08) and ttable (2,38), because thit >ttable then H0 rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that the effect model of cooperative learning type Group Investigation (GI) toward critical thinking ability of students grade  X  on the material ecosystems in Senior High School 66 South Jakarta.Keyword : Group Investigation model, critical thinking ability, ecosystem   material

Abstract

This study aim to determine the ability of this type of communication science process skills of students in learning biology. This study was conducted in 2014-2015 school year from May to August 2015 in SMAN 12 Bekasi. The population in this study were students of class X of SMAN 12 Bekasi 2014-2015 school year, and the sample is graders totaling X.1 40 students taken using simple random sampling technique. The method used is descriptive quantitative. The results showed that the science process skills mastered type of communication skills of students considered good, with a percentage of 66%. Controlled communication skills of students in explaining the results of the experiment the percentage of 75%. Communication skills in creating graphics, and preparation of the report have a percentage of 65% and 64%, while communications capabilities make diagrams have a percentage of 59%. Debriefing history experienced by students is the habit of practicing create charts, graphs and tables, assessment reference in making charts, graphs, and tables, methods and model featuring charts, graphs, and tables, and preparations of report that create charts, graphs, and tables.Keywords: communication skills, learningbiology, high school student

Abstract

Applying interesting learning through the help of media is a way to stimulate students' interest in learning. However, it is very rare to find research that explores students' learning interests. This study aims to investigate the effect of using macromediaflash on students' learning interest. A quasi-experimental design with a control group and an experimental group was used. A total of 44 junior high school students aged 11 to 13 years participated in this study. They were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group which received learning treatment with the help of macromedia flash (experimental) and the control group received treatment with conventional strategies without the help of media. Interest in learning data obtained through a questionnaire and analyzed by t-test. The findings of this study indicate that students in the experimental class who are exposed to fun learning with the help of macromedia flash get a higher learning interest score compared to students in the control class without the help of media. The findings of this study reveal that the use of macromedia flash in learning can be an effective way to increase students' interest in learning
