Spektrum Communication Journal is an academic journal published quarterly every year every March, June, September, and December by Stikosa-AWS in collaboration with ISKI-Jatim, APJIKI, and ASPIKOM. This journal publishes original researches in multi concepts, theories, perspectives, paradigms and methodologies in the communications studies perspective. The focus of this journal is in the communication studies perspective and the scope of the journal are: Journalistics; Public Relations; Broadcasting (TV and Film); Marketing & Tourism Communication; Media and Studies; Gender Studies; Advertising; Every received article should follow the Author guidelines. Any submitted paper will be reviewed by reviewers. The review process employs Double-blind Review that the reviewer does not know the identity of the author, and the author does not know the identity of the reviewers.

Abstract

Societal gap is a phenomenon that exists between the layers of society which creates mass significant differences between it. Through the movie Parasite, Bong Joon Ho successfully portrayed a visualization of the societal disparity issue that happens between two South Korea families with different economic backgrounds. This research’s sole purpose is to analyze and evaluate the representation of societal gap which is depicted thoroughly in Parasite’s filmography. This research uses the method of qualitative research with John Fiske’s semiotic analysis. The subject is the movie Parasite which is directed by Bong Joon Ho. The data is obtained by the method of observing and documentation. The data’s unit of analysis is picked solely by the scenes that interpret signs of societal gap, which rounds up to 31 scenes. The data’s examination technique uses the technique of source’s triangulation. The research has brought up a few results such as, (1) The reality level and societal gap is represented in aspects of appearance, the way each families speak, behavior, movements, expression, and the environment that they reside at. (2) The level of representation and societal disparity is illustrated through aspects of the film such as, camera, lighting, music, and voices. (3) The level of ideology and portrayals of societal gap values can be assured to contain values of socialists and capitalists. In the aspect of socialists, the societal gap is seen as something that stands out because of the significant differences that exist between the different layers of society. Meanwhile, the capitalist values can be seen in how the movie has portrayed how a person with a higher position in the society is the capital holder and the ones that exist in the middle to the lower class of society depends themselves on the ones that resides on the higher class of society.

Abstract

Today's social media cannot be separated from daily activities, so that currently the penetration of social media is increasing and giving birth to a new phenomenon, namely the disclosure of one's identity or self-disclosure through social media, especially Instagram. This phenomenon encourages researchers to study the behavior of students in the city of Bandung in expressing their identity. This study used a qualitative method with a constructivist paradigm and a phenomenological approach, while determining the subject using purposive sampling technique, namely three students from three universities in Bandung and active users of Instagram. Data collection was carried out by interview and observation to strengthen research data. The results showed that self-disclosure through social media Instagram was carried out only in the open self area starting with a sense of wanting to share moments, experiences and feelings and was deemed worthy to be shared through social media. With the aim of simply sharing information with followers, while maintaining a confidential identity which is a personal identity and can lead to misunderstanding.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The video showing the anger of President Joko Widodo during a plenary session at the State Palace invited various comments from several parties. This incident also did not escape the media coverage. This study analyzes the news about President Joko Widodo's anger. The identification of the news was taken from three online media, namely Kompas.com, JawaPos.com and Tempo.co, using four dimensions of Robert Entman's model framing analysis, namely: Define the problem, Diagnose cause, Make moral judgment and Treatment recommendation. The approach in this research is qualitative. The results of this study indicate that the three online media above have their respective points of view in reporting President Joko Widodo's anger during the plenary session. Abstract

Sebagai perusahaan yang bergerak pada bidang hospitality, Royal Trawas Hotel & Cottages ingin membangun komunikasi yang sehat dengan karyawan. Royal Trawas Hotel & Cottages menyadari bahwa bisnis ini tidak akan berjalan tanpa adanya performa terbaik dari karyawan. Oleh karena itu, untuk membina hubungan yang baik dengan karyawan Royal Trawas Hotel & Cottages melalui Departemen Human Resources Development (HRD) melakukan sejumlah aktivitas Employee Relations. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, peneliti ingin mengetahui tentang aktivitas Employee Relations yang dilakukan di Royal Trawas Hotel & Cottages. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Departemen HRD telah membuata sejumlah aktivitas employee relations yaitu pertemuan program pendidikan dan pelatihan hingga corporate social responsibility. Peran Departemen HRD dalam aktivitas employee relations diantaranya adalah melakukan analisis awal, merancang aktivitas employee relations sesuai budaya perusahaan, menganalisis efektivitas peran dan tanggung jawab staf dalam aktivitas employee relations, melakukan diseminasi informasi, menentukan dan mengelola media internal, menciptakan hubungan humanis antara pimpinan dan karyawan serta melakukan evaluasi terhadap aktivitas employee relations. Aktivitas Employee Relations bergantung dengan komunikasi internal. Komunikasi internal yang terjadi di Royal Trawas and Cottages adalah komunikasi ke bawah atau downward communication dari pimpinan kepada karyawan, komunikasi hilir vertikal atau upward communication, komunikasi horizontal yang berlangsung antara karyawan dengan karyawan lainnya. Penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai evaluasi bagi Royal Trawas Hotel & Cottages serta Royal Hospitality Management.

Abstract

The Large-Scale Social Restriction Policy (PSBB) is decided by the government to reduce the number of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the DKI Jakarta Province. This study aims to describe how online media constructs this policy through media framing. The two media studied were detik.com and narasi.tv. Framing analysis uses the Robert N Etman concept to determine problem identification, casual interpretation, treatment recommendation, and moral evaluation. The results showed that the two media construct PSBB differently. Detik.com sees PSBB as a policy formed as a result of community disobedience to health protocols. This media constructs society and COVID-19 as actors causing policy. Meanwhile, Narasi.tv sees the PSBB as a form of government flight from responsible. This media tends to blame government for the high number of COVID-19 cases in DKI Jakarta.

Abstract

Podcasts is an audio-based information medium that is in demand by various countries, including in Indonesia, podcast enthusiasts have experienced a significant increase. This study looks at the socio-demographic factors and adaptation of podcast users through surveys and interviews which illustrate that the majority of podcast users in Indonesia are in big cities like Jakarta and come from diverse groups with expectations of getting entertainment where podcast users claim to be satisfied with the convenience and impact. which is obtained from the use of podcasts. Abstract

The Queen's Gambit is a drama series that raises the issue of sexism against women, which in this drama is aimed at the character Beth Harmon. This study used a qualitative method with the semiotic approach of Roland Barthes. This study aimed to determine the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myths created about sexism in the drama series The Queen's Gambit. The scenes that became the object of the study consisted of 5 scenes that showed sexist behavior and speech. The results of this study indicate that women are depicted as creatures that are not smarter than men, are considered weak creatures, are objects made by the mass media to increase the market, are considered sexual objects, and are also considered troublesome for men.

Abstract

Industri hiburan saat ini merupakan salah satu kebutuhan gaya hidup bagi masyarakat khususnya bagi mereka yang tinggal di kota besar. Bioskop merupakan salah satu industri hiburan yang digemari oleh masyarakat terutama pecinta film, mulai dari anak kecil hingga orang dewasa. Cinema XXI adalah salah satu operator bioskop terbesar di Indonesia. Namun pada awal tahun 2020, Covid-19 hadir menjadi masalah kesehatan dunia.Berdasarkan hal diatas peneliti tertarik untuk melakukan analisis brand activation secara mendalam yang dilakukan oleh Cinema XXI . Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan konsep komunikasi pemasaran, brand, brand acrivation dan brand awareness. Metode penelitian ini ialah studi kasus dengan penedekatan kualitatif . Tehnik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan menggunakan triangulasi sumber untuk tehnik keabsahan data. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian selama pandemic ini Cinema XXI melalukan kegiatan Brand Activation berupa : Social Media Activation, Promotion Activation dan Marketing Event Activation .Brand Activation yang dilakukan oleh Cinema XXI dengan cara mengajak konsumen, dalam hal ini adalah penoton dan kemudian memberikan experience untuk bisa tetap berkomunikasi dan dekat dengan para penontonnya, dan yang terakhir melakukan penguatan kembali dengan melakukan promosi.Strategi yang diterapkan oleh Cinema XXI hanya menggunakan 3 dari 4 strategi, yaitu menetapkan target, mencari wawasan konsumen dan juga menentukan tema. Untuk yang menetapkan media tidak digunakan, karena justru hal itu sudah dilakukan terlebih dahulu.Cinema XXI bisa mengembangkan aktivasi brandnya dengan melakukan sebuah trademark, karena melalui media social sebuah karya atau konten bisa digunakan dan disebarluaskan oleh siapapun. Kegiatan aktivasi brand yang bisa dikembangkan adalah melalui Sponsorship Activation yang merupakan jenis brand activation di mana brand mendanai suatu kegiatan. Contoh: mendanai kegiatan olahraga, musik, dan sebagainya.
