Abstract

Social exclusion among independent smallholders of the oil palm sector is a socioeconomic problem that is closely linked to the incidence of poverty and economic inequality. Although there are several Islamic banking institutions that provide micro credit to the farmers, but not received much response due to lack of attractiveness and non-competitive features especially to independent smallholder. Therefore, other channels like philanthropy are seen as an alternative for smallholder empowerment in the form of integration between zakat business capital, and business incubators as mechanisms to address these issues. The objective of this study is to examine the role of Islamic philanthropic instruments of zakat and waqf in addressing the problem. The methods used in this study are based on qualitative approach like research interviews, observations, written expert experiences, and research publications. The findings provide valuable insights for stakeholders into Islamic philanthropy role and the importance of exposure in improving ISH performance, which could help them in (re-) align their agricultural practices and formulating strategies for industry player’s guidance.JEL Classification: A13, G21, J24, Q02, Z12

Partial Least Square Structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) is used to analyze the data. Findings suggest that psychological safety was positively related to innovative work behavior and psychological safety mediated this link. This study is among very few studies that have tested the paternalistic leadership style in the innovative context of Pakistan. A major contribution for practitioners is to know that paternalistic leadership will enhance employee innovative work behavior through psychological safety. Abstract

This study aims to develop an Islamic personality model as a psychometric tool to assess creditworthiness as an alternative predictive character analysis for micro businesses. The method designed to formulate the proposed model coded in R Studio uses two approaches. First, we modify Moslem Religiosity Personality Inventory and then frame a structural model based on Partial Least Square. Subsequently, we use the random forest technique to see the model's accuracy. The result shows a valid and reliable model and performs with 89.47 % accuracy with an Area Under Curve -Receiver Operating Characteristic of 90.06 %. This model implies a solution to strengthen the assessment of the character of creditworthiness of a potential micro-business and helps Islamic Financial Institutions to assess prospective micro-business to determine credit risk and pricing.JEL Classification: B41, D81, D87, G21, P43How to Cite:Hardiansyah., Amalia, E., & Hamid, A. Abstract

Using monthly data spanning from 1993 to 2021 and employingthe DCC-GARCH model, this study examines the role ofEconomic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) as a potential exogenousfactor impacting the correlation of Brazil, Russia, India, andChina (BRIC) economies’ stock markets, which is new to theliterature. Further, this dynamic correlation series is used as adependent variable while EPU of BRIC and USA is used as anindependent variable by utilizing the autoregressive distributedlag (ARDL) model. The study finds a positive and significantshort-run as well as the long-run impact of Russia’s and theUS’s EPU on their stock markets. In other words, as the EPUof the USA increases, the correlation of BRIC with the USAStock Market and the World Stock Market increases, suggestingminimum diversification opportunities for the investors. Thestudy also recommends that investors diversify their portfoliosby considering cross borders assets avenues to gain maximumreturns and reduce portfolio risk.JEL Classification: E44, C32, E52, E60, E62, C58How to Cite:Nawaz, A. Abstract

The aging trend of the population in Hong Kong and Macau is evident, so the pension system is especially significant. This research paper uses document analysis and a double-case study as the research method. It uses path dependence and critical moments in historical institutionalism theory as the theoretical tools for political economy analysis. The discussion argues that “the social culture shaped by local politics,” “the combination of local economic development and economic structure,” and “influence from social structure” are the three main factors that influence the pension systems in Hong Kong and Macau, and are the fundamental reasons for the differences between the pension systems in Hong Kong and Macau. We also conclude that the outbreak of COVID-19 is causing the evolution of the pension systems in both regions to be converging.JEL Classification: H7, N9, O2, R5How to Cite:Guo, S., You, L., & Wang, Q.
