Abstract

This article analyzes how Padungku, an indigenous tradition of the Pamona tribe, became a concept of ecclesiology after the Poso conflict through the perspective of interfaith ecclesiology. The main problem in the Poso conflict is the clash between two different religious groups from each other so that all kinds of relationships of any kind between the two seem to be tightly closed, and there is no hope of opening up again. This paper uses a literature method to explore how Padungku became a new ecclesiological concept in the Poso community. The results found that through Padungku and the perspective of interfaith ecclesiology as aids, it will be seen that long-entrenched indigenous traditions played a role in unlocking all sorts of things that were not originally possible post-conflict. This openness is also inseparable from how its values are in line and accordance with ecclesial principles.

Abstract

The natural wealth of the Maranatha Bombon Congregation, with various potentials, a gift from God, must be managed and cultivated with love so humans can use it to support their lives. God gave control as a delegation of guardianship or maintenance of nature for the welfare of human life, maintaining harmony with nature and glorifying God. Congregational economic empowerment can be realized through small holistic groups, which understand the Word through discussion, but also apply the Word to daily life and as a place to learn to serve others within and outside the group according to their gifts. The purpose of this research is to discover the reality of the life phenomenon of the GKLB Maranatha Bombon congregation towards financial independence that is relevant in the era of globalization. The research method used is qualitative. The results of this study indicate that economic empowerment has not been integrated into social and congregational life due to the lack of attention from the church itself.

Abstract

Widows in society, in general, often receive a stigma that tends to place them as sexual objects, labelling them immoral, seductive, and dangerous because they have the potential to seize other people's husbands. Stigma limits the space for widows to move, from limited space to socialize to the difficulty of getting a job. The story of Hagar and the widow at Zarephath in the Bible illustrates God's concern for the hardships of their lives as widows. God is present in their lives and provides a way out so they can continue their lives well. This study explores the meaning of God's encounter with Hagar and the widow of Zarephath and its benefits in criticizing the stigma about widows living in society. The method used is a literature study. The results found: 1) God's encounter with Hagar and the widow of Zarephath provided a way out for both of them to get out of difficulties and continue their lives well; 2) the meaning of God's encounter with Hagar and the widow of Zarephath contradicts the stigma that exists in society about widows because stigma limits the space for widows to get out of difficulties and continue their lives.

Abstract

According to Batak Toba's ancestors, The manulangi ritual is one of the ways to give the highest respect to parents. Since the manulangi tradition is the ancestor's legacy, few people assume it is irrelevant because there are many ways to honour parents. Some sectarians think all Batak Toba rituals are sins and against the Bible. This research aims to discover the theological values in the manulangi tradition for Batak Toba, which still keeps the manulangi ritual in Christians' values. The method is qualitative research with a literature study. The data are collected from works of literature that are related to the topic. All literature will be analyzed with the content analytics method to build frames of thinking. Lastly, the author will apply the theological approach to the manulangi ritual to discover theological value. All data is displayed descriptively.  The manulangi tradition is relevant to the great; the first commandment is to love God and neighbours. Loving God through the manulangi ritual is to glorify God and obey God. Loving neighbours through the manulangi ritual is to bless one another, restore relationships with neighbours, and bear one another's burdens.

Abstract

Peace is one of the basic needs of human life. Every tribe and nation strives for equilibrium to be realized so that life can be perpetuated. One of the cultures in Timorese society to strive for peace is the Na Tek Oko tradition. Through this tradition, each person or tribe at war will be reconciled by sitting and eating betel nuts together in a happy atmosphere. Sitting together signifies that both parties are equal and equal so that peace efforts can be made. This parallels what God did when He reconciled Himself with humans, namely by humanizing Himself to become neighbours for humans. Using qualitative methods, especially literature studies and open interviews with traditional Timorese leaders, it was found that the Na Tek Oko tradition, in essence, parallels the Bible's message, especially regarding the atonement that God made for humans. Thus the Na Tek Oko tradition can be used as contextual theology to build peace in Timorese society.

Abstract

This research explores mowali habits in the Koinonia Lontio Preparatory Congregation regarding Christian teachings about love and forgiveness. The method used in this research is a qualitative method involving 14 informants consisting of members and the Congregation Council. Data was taken using interview techniques and analyzed using reduction, display, and conclusion techniques. The research results show that the mowali habit in the Koinonia Lontio Preparatory Congregation is not in line with Christian teachings about love and forgiveness. Abstract

Morals in Christian education are an important aspect in shaping the character of students based on Christian principles and values. Christian Education aims to introduce students to Christian values such as love, mercy, justice, and integrity, and guide them in applying these values in everyday life. It includes understanding Christian teaching, moral character building, and developing Christian ethics. Students are taught how to understand and apply Christian values in their decision-making and behavior. In addition, they are encouraged to engage in personal reflection and prayer as a way to seek God's guidance in their actions. Social service is also an integral part of Christian moral education, where students are taught to help others in society. Christian moral education uses case studies of moral dilemmas to stimulate students' discussion and critical thinking. Through close cooperation between schools, families, and churches, consistency in the teaching of Christian values is maintained. Morals in Christian education form a solid basis for Christian individuals in dealing with complex moral situations and taking decisions in accordance with the principles of Christianity. This approach is instrumental in shaping the ethical, responsible, and loving character of the Christian individual in a changing modern society.
