Abstract

Abstract

.The Timor deer (Cervus timorensis) is a protected wildlife. The population of the Timor deer is decreasing, so captivity is a way to save wildlife. Deer breeding at the University of Lampung is one of the ex-situ conservation efforts for the Timor deer (Cervus timorensis) in its natural habitat in an endangered condition. Timor deer drop-in feed in captivity is provided for daily feed needs. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of drop-in feed for the Timor deer, determine the feed preferences of the Timor deer and determine the feeding behavior. The research location is a deer captive at the University of Lampung in the province of Lampung. The method used in this research is scan sampling. The analysis is carried out by descriptive analysis through data analysis. The research was carried out for three months, namely July 2021 on the 1st, 4th, 8th and 12th, August 2021 on the 1st, 4th, 8th, and 12th and September on the 1st, 4th, 8th and 12th. The results of this study are There are 4 types of feed provided by the deer management at the University of Lampung, namely elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum), Timunan grass (Leptochloa fusca), teki grass (Cyperus rotundus) and insulin grass (Chamaecostus cuspidatus). The feed preferences of deer at the University of Lampung deer are grass plant (Chamaecostus cuspidatus) with an average consumption of 55.83%, elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) is 18.75%, teki grass (Cyperus rotundus) 16.83%, while the The least feed was Timunan Grass (Leptochloa fusca) with an average of 9.13%. The eating behavior of the male deer was the highest, the Timor deer, Sugeng, 30.08% and the lowest, the Timor deer, Asep, 28.17%, while the female deer was the highest at East Timor deer, Atik 32.00% and the lowest was Timor deer, Dewi 28.62%.

Abstract

Management of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) by the people of Hanura Village, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung in the Wan Abdul Rachman Forest Park is still limited to plants such as durian, Tangkil, areca nut, sugar palm, candlenut and other top canopy plants that cannot be relied for support basic household needs. On the other hand, the potential for understorey tree stands in forest areas has not been widely utilized for seasonal or commercial undergrowth species, due to farmers allegedly have not known yet about species of food crops which economically viable under stands. Meanwhile, farmers only know food crops for instance rice, corn, soybeans, cassava, sweet potatoes which can not be planted in forest areas. The effort to alleviate poverty and improve the welfare is through the development of porang plants which can be planted under mixed forest stands. For this reason, it is necessary to introduce and train porang to equalize their perceptions. The research method using Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and distributing questionnaires to 15 farmers. The results showed that the respondents in general were familiar with the porang plant, although not deeply. However, not many people know about porang development, so they are motivated to learn more, starting from nurseries, planting to harvesting.

Abstract

Reptiles are part of biodiversity which has an important role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem, information on the diversity of reptiles in the Wan Abdul Rachman Forest Park (Tahura WAR) is very important to support reptile conservation efforts. This study aims to compare the diversity of reptiles in several different habitat types, 1) rivers, 2) secondary forests, 3) Shrubs. The method used in amphibian data collection is the Visual Encounter Survey (VES) with the transect method, the length of the transect line used is 300-400 meters with 6 repetitions for each habitat type. Data analysis by calculating the Shannon-Wiener species diversity index and evenness index. Identify the reptile using the manual. The results of observations found as many as 57 individuals consisting of 7 species and 5 families: Agamidae 2 species, Scincidae 1 species, , Lacertidae 1 species, Elapidae 1 species and Colubridae 2 species. There are 4 species of river, 6 species of secondary forest habitat, and 2 species of river habitat. The value of amphibian diversity in the river habitat type and secondary forest was categorized as moderate, and the bush habitat type was categorized as low, and the evenness value in three habitats, namely, river E=0.83, secondary forest E=0.76 and bush habitat E=0.96 with stable category.

Abstract

Visitors' perceptions of tourism objects are very valuable because they can be used by managers as a source of tourism development planning. This study aims to determine visitor perceptions based on push factors and the application of health protocols by visitors. This research was conducted from October-November 2021 with the research location in the Lembah Hijau Wildlife Park, Lampung. The research method is interviews with 100 respondents based on the Slovin formula (1960). Descriptive data analysis and Likert scale analysis. The results of the study of visitor perceptions based on the push factor got a fairly attractive category with a Likert scale of 3.86 because the ticket prices were still considered not cheap by visitors. Factors that encourage visitors to visit are animal shows, free flight bird shows, taking photos with birds, and visitors being able to ride elephants and feed elephants. Visitors' perceptions based on the application of health protocols get a good category with a Likert scale of 4.07. During their visit, visitors always wear masks, wash their hands in the places provided, keep their distance, and reduce interactions with other visitors as part of implementing health protocols.
