Abstract

One area of technology that is growing quickly in Indonesia is education technology. The use of technology in education aids in the process of helping students learn. One of the reasons for the continued low quality of education in Indonesia, particularly in mathematics, is the use of subpar teaching resources. Flipbooks, especially when used with sequential or sequential information, are thought to be able to enhance the quality of classroom learning in terms of students' ability to solve mathematical problems and autonomous learning. Flipbooks include textual content along with graphics, videos, and other engaging elements. Thus, the purpose of this research was to develop flipbook series and sequential materials that are both useful and effective. According to the Plomp, this kind of research is Research and Development (R&D).Keywords– Learning outcomes, Realistic Mathematics Education

Abstract

─ The capacity to solve mathematical problems plays a significant role in the math learning process. However, students at SMPN 12 Padang showed Students at SMPN 12 Padang showed a low degree of proficiency in solving problems in mathematics. Therefore, a study was conducted to illustrate the ability of learners using the SSCS learning model to solve mathematical problems more effectively than the mathematical problem-solving abilities of learners in SMPN 12 Padang's class VIII who used the conventional learning model. Quasi-experiment with randomised posttest-only control group design. According to the data analysis results, the P-value was 0.000 and the significance level was 0.05. Due to the P-value being less than 0.05, the null hypothesis (H_0) is rejected. Thus, It may be said that learners who apply the SSCS learning model have more effective problem-solving abilities than students who use the conventional learning model. Keywords ─ Mathematical problem-solving ability, SSCS

Abstract

Learners' ability to solve problems is an important skill that cannot be separated from learners. Initial test results at SMPN 12 Padang showed the need to improve this ability. One of the steps taken is the implementation of the Auditory, Intellectually and Repetition learning model. The results of the final test analysis of mathematical problem solving ability with a real level of α = 0.05, obtained a P-Value = 0.01 where the P-Value <α so as to reject  This means that the application of the Auditory, Intellectually and Repetition model has an impact on the mathematical problem solving ability of students in class IX SMPN 12 Padang. Keywords — Mathematical problem solving skill, Auditory, Intellectually and Repetition Learning Model

Abstract

- The ability to communicate mathematical concepts effectively is an important part of mastering mathematical concepts. Unfortunately, the mathematical communication skills of students in grade IX of SMPN 22 Padang are still lacking. To overcome this obstacle, we used the Think Pair Square learning model. A quasi-experimental design, consisting of a non-equivalent control group used only after the exam, was used in this study. A p-value of 0.002 was shown in the t-test analysis, which is smaller than the significance level of 0.05. The results of grade IX students at SMPN 22 Padang who used the TPSQ learning model to improve their mathematical communication skills were better than students who used the direct learning model. Keywords–Mathematical Communication Skills, Think Pair Square, Direct Learning

Abstract

Students need mathematical problem solving skills to trace the stages and find the desired solution in mathematics. However, in the 2023/2024 academic year, grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 40 Padang still had low ability in solving mathematical problems. The test data shows this. We are interested in adopting Problem Based Learning (PBL) as a learning model. Research was conducted to compare the Problem Based Learning model with direct learning to improve students' mathematics problem solving skills. This study used the Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. We used random sampling methodology. The experimental group consisted of students of class VIII.1, while the control group consisted of students of class VIII.3. The Mann-Whitney test confirmed the research hypothesis. Data analysis showed a P-value of 0.002, which indicated statistical significance. The null hypothesis H0 was rejected because the P-value was less than α = 0.05. Problem-based learning improved mathematical problem solving ability more significantly than direct learning. Keywords – Mathematical problem solving ability, PBL, Direct learning

Abstract

The preliminary exam results indicated that the 11th grade students at SMAN 3 Padang exhibited a comparatively low level of proficiency in mathematical problem-solving skills across all indicators. This is a result of insufficient engagement in the learning process. Consequently, an investigation was carried out utilising the Discovery Learning (DL) approach to enhance this capability. The methodology employed was a Quasi Experiment with an appropriate study design. Design utilising a posttest only control group that is not equal. Upon doing a t-test on the data from the sample class, with a significance threshold of α = 0.05, a P-value of 0.001 was achieved. This outcome signifies the dismissal of the null hypothesis (H0). These findings suggest that students using the DL model exhibit superior aptitude compared to those using the direct learning model in class XI at SMAN 3 Padang. Keywords– Mathematical problem solving abilities, Discovery Learning
