Abstract

One of the flagship commodities with great potential for Indonesia's economic growth is black pepper (Piper nigrum L). The importance of maintaining Indonesia's competitiveness in black pepper exports, both in the domestic and international markets, has increased in tandem with the rising export volume, with the primary determinant of its competitiveness being the demand for black pepper. Data from the 2021 plantation balance sheet recorded black pepper exports at 39,961.36 tons and black pepper imports at 295.37 tons, while tea exports reached 46,003.88 tons with tea imports at 10,442.75 tons. This research aims to analyze the influence of factors such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), exchange rate, tariffs, and distance on Indonesian black pepper exports, adopting a research model similar to the one used by Shepotylo (2012), which utilizes econometric modeling, with a quantitative and descriptive analysis approach. The research results indicate that the Gross Domestic Product variable has a negative and significant impact on Export Value, with a probability value of t < 0.05, indicating a significant influence. On the other hand, the Exchange Rate and Tariff variables have a negative but non-significant impact on Export Value, with a probability value of t > 0.05, indicating their lack of significance. Furthermore, the research findings also reveal that the Distance variable has a significant negative impact on Export Value, with a probability value of t < 0.05, indicating a significant influence.

Abstract

MSMEs are one of Indonesia’s national main economic pillars, with the contribution of those in Sidoarjo alone in 2019 of IDR 1.6 trillion. However, their business had to be disrupted by the rocketing cases of Corona Virus Disease (Covid) not long after. They had to struggle with sales decrease, raw material scarcity, distribution clogging, capital deficiency, and production reduction due to labor layoffs. This research aims to identify factors that influence the sustainability of MSMEs in Sidoarjo and measures required by them in order to maintain their sustainability during the pandemic. The scope of this study is the effects of business owner’s resources, environmental carrying capacity, financial management, and communication and information technology usage on the sustainability of MSMEs in Sidoarjo Regency. This research applies multivariate regression analysis and SmartPLS 4 as the statistical tools. The results of the analysis indicate that communication and information technology usage and environmental carrying capacity have significant effects on the sustainability of MSMEs in Sidoarjo during the Covid-19 pandemic, but business owner’s resources and financial management have no significant influence. Therefore, it can be concluded that capital aids, tax incentives, internal support from family, access to information technology, and digital marketing can support the sustainability of MSMEs in Sidoarjo during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The increasing population in Indonesia has an impact on the increasing need for jobs. The government has tried to provide jobs in the formal sector, namely in the fields of trade and industry, but this has not been able to solve the problem of the need for increased employment. In the end, workers who became unemployed because they did not get opportunities in employment turned to the informal labor market. One of the most numerous informal sectors in the city of Malang is being a trader in traditional markets. The purpose of this research is to find out and analyze what factors influence the income of traders, namely capital factors, length of business, education level, working time and age. The instrument of this research used a questionnaire. The samples taken were 50 respondents from traders in Blimbing Market, Malang City. Analysis and processing of data using SPSS with the research method of multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study partially show that the variables of capital and education level have a positive and significant effect on the income of traders. While the length of business, working time, and age have no effect on the income of traders.

Abstract

Populations growth, which is only concentrated on the island of java, has result in an abundance of manpower on the island, but employment is still a problem because labor absorption is not optimal, as evidenced by the high open unemployment rate. On the other hand, the phenomenon of the dividen demographic is still going on, and now the productive age group must be used optimally for the success of economic development later in 2030. The use of the dividen demographic is one of them by increasing employment to reduce unemployment. This study aims to determine the effect of HDI, UMP, and Inflation on employment in java in 2012-2021. This research method uses multiple linear regression with panel data, but the method contains outliers, so it uses robust regression. The results of this study partially indicate that the HDI, as indicated by education, has a negative and significant effect on employment, whereas health and GRDP per capita have a positive effect on employment. Then inflation has a negative and significant effect, while UMP has a negative and insignificant effect. Then it simultaneously shows how education, health, GDRP/capita, inflation, and UPM affect employment absorption.
