Interest from other disciplines (such as history, anthropology, architecture, geology, etc.) must be related to archaeological subject to be covered in this journal. Our first edition was published on March 1980.

Abstract

In this paper, a micro-scale settlement study will be applied to the conditions and problems in the Macan Cave, which is one of the caves in a cave collection in the Jember area. It is hoped that this paper can explain how micro-scale settlements that occur in Macan Cave and the spatial layout applied to the available cave land to support the activities of its inhabitants.

Abstract

The uniquely shaped terracotta artifacts from the Gunungwingko Site consist of several shapes that cannot be easily named. The naming is used to identify the shape it belongs to and other names taken from a shape similar to fauna or a certain geomeric form. To find out the function of these artifacts, a contextual comparison is made both with findings of other types in one site, as well as with similar findings on other sites both in Indonesia and outside Indonesia.

Abstract

The remaining cultural objects in the Karimunjawa Islands are generally located in the vicinity of settlements, and most of them are in the form of graves which are mostly considered as sacred places so they are often visited on pilgrimages. For a long time in this area there have been contacts between local residents and other communities. The interactions that took place were not limited to shipping and trade, but some were caused by clashes between politics and power. as stated in several sources. Chinese sources, for example, mentioned that in 1293 Khubilai Khan's envoys, namely Shihpi and Kan Shing, afterwards from Belitung Island left for Java. In Karimunjawa they docked waiting for the opportunity to enter Tuban before traveling on the Kali Mas River via Sedayu.

Abstract

From the Troloyo Tomb Complex, it can be seen various aspects of archaeology related to the development of Islam, especially in East Java. More specifically, it is closely related to the existence of the Majapahit Kingdom. From various kinds of research that have been done, both by foreign and national researchers, we knew regarding the chronological data, the location of the tomb complex, decorative styles, and data on inscriptions. They are also known to have historical values, political values, cultural values, and also religious values that underlie them.
