Journal of Leadership, Management and Policy in Education is a scholarly journal managed by the Master of Educational Administration program at Muhammadiyah University of Kendari. This journal serves as a source of current knowledge and information in the fields of leadership, management, and educational policy. Abstract

Functional literacy learning includes reading, writing, counting and communicating using Indonesian language that is transformed into the application of dance culture. The purpose of the research is to know the impact of functional literacy learning and its application to the culture of molihi dilaesare dance, motosau molihi dance, dance lense mentoka and kalapea lense dance. The Research Method uses evaluation studies aimed at knowing the impact of functional literacy learning and its transformation in culture. The results stated that functional literacy learning can increase the interest in reading, writing, counting and communicating using Indonesian language transformed into dance culture in Konawe Islands Regency.

Abstract

The study aims to explore school principals’ practices on management accountability relationship for curriculum implementation. An exploratory qualitative case study type and multiple case study research design were employed. A purposive sampling technique was used. The study’s findings affirm that school principals’ practices through management accountability relationships were compromised for classroom curriculum implementation yet, strongly operational to hold teachers accountable for subordinate tasks namely, improving students' scores by 5 to 10% from the previous year's average score, increasing enrollment rate, students’ promotion by 100%, reducing dropout rate. Lowering teachers’ efficiency results, in removal from promotion and salary increments were exercised for performing subordinate tasks as strong accountability measures. If the physical presence of teachers were realized in the schools or classrooms, teachers’ weakness in the implementation of curriculum did not invite rigorous penalty rather principals exercised their management accountability relationship by giving advice, oral warning, ongoing professional training, and transferring to the lower grade levels were the actual accountability measures exercised in the schools. Penalties like a series of fines of up to three months' salary, downgrading, and dismissal from the job were exercised for teachers’ code of ethics such as smoking, unreasonable absenteeism, addiction to alcohol, and others.

Abstract

This article discusses the development of an Islamic character-based curriculum in Al Qalam Kendari Integrated Islamic Elementary School as a solution to create a generation that has superior character and integrity. The purpose of this article is to identify effective strategies and methods in developing an Islamic character-based curriculum and to evaluate the results of implementing the curriculum. The research method used is a literature study and a case study involving interviews, observation and documentation at Al Qalam Kendari Integrated Islamic Elementary School which has implemented a character-based curriculum. The results of the study show that the development of an Islamic character-based curriculum at the school has succeeded in creating a learning environment that encourages students to internalize Islamic values and develop superior characters such as integrity, responsibility, cooperation and independence. Implementation of an Islamic character-based curriculum is an effective approach to achieving the goals of Islamic education with integrity and character.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the perceptions of Bajo ethnic parents towards their children’s education. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The methods used in this study are observation, and interviews. The informants in this study were parents of the Bajo tribe who had school-age children. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that parents of the Bajo tribe in Saponda have a strong understanding of importance of education for their children, however they face a number of obstacles in providing a good education, including economic limitations, resources, and inadequate educational facilities and infrastructure. Besides that, this research reveals that there are high expectations of Bajo tribal parents for their children’s education. They hope that their children will get better opportunities in terms of access to education. In a limited cultural and environmental context, social and government support is also very much needed by the Bajo community in Saponda village. Support in the form of financial assistance, as well as educational programs and policies that pay attention to their needs, it is hoped that this will increase the participation of Bajo tribal parents in Saponda in their children’s education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the facility and infrastructure management at SD Negeri 10 Asera, North Konawe Regency, focusing on planning, procurement, inventorying, maintenance, and disposal. The rationale for this research arises from the urgency of effective facility and infrastructure management on the quality of learning, as well as the lack of literature related to such management at the elementary level. The research method used is qualitative with in-depth interviews with nine informants, involving the school principal, vice-principal, and class teachers. The findings indicate that the implementation of facility and infrastructure management at the school involves active participation from the entire school community. The study concludes that these practices contribute positively to the effectiveness of learning and create a conducive environment. This research provides valuable insights into the central role of facility and infrastructure management in advancing the quality of education at the elementary level.
