Abstract

Idioms are one of the most commonly used figurative expressions in literary works, and they are often referred to as a problem that machine translators can never solve. This study aims to discover the strategies used in translating idioms in the novel "Artemis" by Andy Weir. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The data sources are idioms found in the book "Artemis" by Andy Weir. The results show that there are several translation strategies used in translating idioms in the novel "Artemis", namely Paraphrase, Similar Meaning and Form, Similar Meaning but Dissimilar Form, Omission of a Play on Idiom, Omission of the Entire Idiom, and Borrowing SL Idiom. Paraphrase is the most widely used idiom translation strategy, which is 30% of the total 74 data analyzed, and the least strategy is borrowing at 2% with only 6 data out of all the data analyzed. The findings in this study show that translators mostly apply the paraphrasing translation strategy because finding the same idiom in the target language is very difficult, so a paraphrasing strategy is needed so that the meaning contained in the source language can be conveyed well in the target language.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Geografi Kebencanaan secara konvensional menyebabkan penurunan semangat belajar bagi mahasiswa pendidikan geografi. Selain itu, mata kuliah metodologi penelitian yang disampaikan secara teoritis tidak cukup memberikan pemahaman dan keterampilan mahasiswa tentang penelitian, sehingga diperlukan tambahan pengalaman meneliti melalui kegiatan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penerapan pembelajaran berbasis riset sebagai upaya meningkatkan pengalaman belajar dan keterampilan meneliti bagi mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Geografi Kebencanaan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan analisis interaktif model Milles & Huberman. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa melalui kegiatan pembelajaran berbasis riset pada mata kuliah geografi kebencanaan mahasiswa mendapatkan pengalaman belajar yang menarik dan menantang bagi mereka, selain itu dari hasil analisis dokumen proyek penelitian, mahasiswa sudah mampu memahami dan terampil dalam menerapkan kaidah-kaidah dasar penelitian kualitatif.

Abstract

Comparing the translation of literary works and the translation of scientific texts shows the differences in terms of complexity and challenges. One example of a literary work is a novel. Novels with figurative language and idiomatic expressions certainly need to be translated accurately for the target readers. This study aims to explain the translation methods used in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data sources in this study are taken from the original English novel published by D. Appleton and Co in 1866 and the Indonesian translation translated by Inkraian in 2015 published through wattpad. The research was conducted using the translation method proposed by Newmark (1998). The results show that there are seven translation methods used in translating Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, namely 6 data for literal translation, 6 data for free translation, 5 data for faithful translation, 4 data for communicative translation, 4 data for adaptation translation, 3 data for semantic translation, and 2 data for idiomatic translation.

Abstract

Exploring the Integration of Technology in English Language Teaching: A Research Study, investigates the multifaceted relationship between technology and English language instruction. This mixed-methods study delves into English language teachers' attitudes, practices, challenges, and aspirations regarding technology integration. A combination of quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews, the study examines the perceptions and experiences of educators at varying levels of technology integration proficiency. Quantitative analyses reveal mean scores and frequencies across dimensions such as technology's role, integration challenges, perceived benefits, and impact on student engagement and learning outcomes. Qualitative provides depth and context, elucidating individual experiences, strategies, and visions for the future. Convergence and divergence between quantitative data and qualitative narratives offer nuanced understandings of technology integration in language education. Findings indicate a generally positive attitude towards technology integration among participants, tempered by challenges such as technical proficiency, resource accessibility, and pedagogical alignment. Despite obstacles, the teachers express a collective vision for technology's transformative potential in language teaching, advocating for innovation, equity, and student-centered learning. The study contributes to the ongoing discourse on technology integration in language education, offering insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers striving to harness the benefits of technology for enhanced language learning experiences.

Abstract

This research explains how Scrapbook learning media is used to increase students' learning motivation in learning fiqh for grade 5 students in SD / MI. The method used in this research is literature study. The conclusion in this study is the use of learning media Caps Scrapbook to increase student learning motivation in learning fiqh grade 5 SD / MI can be concluded that with the use of learning media Caps Scrapbook can increase student learning motivation, in addition to increasing learning motivation in students can also make students become more active in learning. Caps Scrapbook learning media is one alternative that can be used as a learning media that is not only fun but also effective. Caps Scrapbook is a flexible learning media because it can be applied in any subject and at any level. The conclusion of the research is proven from various results of other people's research that has been done before.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis proses atau tahapan inovasi pengembangan kurikulum serta implementasinya dalam dunia pendidikan. Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang pesat menuntut adanya inovasi dalam pengembangan kurikulum pendidikan. Guru diharapkan mampu menciptakan pembelajaran yang inovatif untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan kualitas belajar siswa, baik secara mandiri maupun di kelas. Inovasi kurikulum harus menyesuaikan dengan kebutuhan dan karakteristik siswa serta mampu menghadapi tantangan globalisasi dan digitalisasi. Teknologi digital berperan penting dalam membuat materi pembelajaran lebih interaktif dan menarik. Pengembangan kurikulum yang inovatif memerlukan pendekatan sistematis dan kolaboratif, serta pemahaman mendalam dari pendidik mengenai pentingnya inovasi tersebut. Dengan demikian, kurikulum yang dikembangkan dapat mempersiapkan siswa untuk masa depan yang terus berubah.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in English learning at MA Al Amiriyyah, focusing on classes X and XI. The objective is to assess the effectiveness of different learning models applied by the English teachers. A qualitative approach was employed, collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results indicate that the problem-based learning model in class XI was less effective due to its mismatch with student conditions, leading to disengagement and boredom among students. Conversely, the project-based learning and cooperative learning models in class X were highly effective, fostering an active, creative, and responsible learning environment. These models allowed students to engage more deeply with the material and take greater ownership of their learning process. These findings highlight the critical need for selecting and implementing appropriate learning models to maximize student engagement, motivation, and overall learning outcomes in line with the objectives of the Merdeka Curriculum

Abstract

Proses pembelajaran di kelas tidak terlepas dari metode pembelajaran yang digunakan di kelas. Metode pembelajaran yang tepat dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa akan materi yang telah diajarkan. Metode tanya jawab adalah salah satu metode pembelajaran yang digunakan untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman siswa melalui jawaban yang diberikan oleh siswa. Dengan menjawab pertanyaan, siswa juga menjadi lebih aktif di kelas saat kegiatan tanya jawab. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan persepsi mahasiswa mengenai metode tanya jawab dan keaktifan mahasiswa di kelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan survei. Responden penelitian adalah mahasiswa di semester 2. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah keaktifan mahasiswa meningkat dengan kegiatan tanya jawab. Mahasiswa juga menjadi lebih bersemangat dalam belajar, meningkatkan pengetahuan akan materi yang telah diajarkan, dan semakin percaya diri dalam menjawab setiap pertanyaan yang diberikan, serta pembelajaran lebih interaktif. Abstract

Pendidikan sangat penting bagi setiap orang untuk berkembang secara mandiri, dengan mengembangkan keterampilan pengetahuan, sikap, dan kemampuan lainnya. Tujuan Pendidikan ini yaitu untuk mempersiapkan seseorang agar mampu menyelesaikan masalah kehidupan nyata dalam memajukan masyarakat, hal ini ditingkatkan melalui pembelajaran di sekolah, termasuk pembelajaran IPS yang berkaitan dengan peran manusia di masyarakat. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang diterapkan adalah Problem Based Learning (PBL) yang memungkinkan siswa dapat memecahkan masalah dunia nyata secara kolaboratif, serta dapat menambah pengalaman baru. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis metode eksperimen yang melibatkan kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen untuk menganalisis keberhasilan belajar siswa kelas V di SDS Amkur Bengkayang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Rata-rata hasil belajar pada kelas kontrol dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional adalah pretest kontrol nilai rata-rata 45,93 standar deviasi 14,14 dan pretest kelas eksperimen sebesar 48,33 dengan standar deviasi 15,69. Rata-rata hasil belajar siswa pada kelas eksperimen dengan diberi perlakuan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) adalah posttest kelas kontrol 70,34 dengan standar deviasi sebesar 13,94 dan posttest eksperimen 80,23 dengan standar deviasi sebesar 8,26. Besarnya harga effect size adalah 0,71 hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) memberikan pengaruh yang tinggi terhadap hasil pembelajaran IPS.

Abstract

Research on the application of the make a match learning model was carried out to increase student interest in learning and learning outcomes. The research methodology used is quantitative research. Researchers used a pre-experimental design method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design research design. The research subject is the fifth grade of elementary school. Meanwhile, the sampling technique used 24 students in one class. With the results of the research that has been carried out, there is agreement in the class that the average achieved before using the make a match type cooperative learning model shows a pre-test score with an average of 70.83 and after applying this learning model, the post-test shows the pre-test score. -test with an average of 70.83. The trial obtained an average score of 90. The conclusion was that this make a match type cooperative learning model had an effect on the interest in learning and learning outcomes of class V students at SDN Grudo III Ngawi
