Abstract

Mangrove in the ex-Tsunami Area have ability to stored carbon, with existing of mangrove forest so increasing of carbon emission in natural can be diminished. Therefore, mangrove habitat is a big storage of carbon (carbon sinks). Carbon sinks or carbon dioxyde sinks have a important role as a place for storing or absorbing carbon dioxyde gases that derived from earth atmosphere. The carbon that absorbed by mangrove will stored in biomass of tree. The amount of  such tree biomass will influenced carbon stock that stored in mangrove forest. The aim of this research is to known mangrove vegetation conditions to the ex-Tsunami in the West-South of Aceh Area. The research method that used is survey method. The sampling of mangrove vegetation that undertaken by using plot sampling method. The result showed the vegetation condition of mangrove forest in the ex-Tsunami Area were dominated by Rhizopora apiculata for seeds level. The pole level were dominated by Sonneratia alba.  Carbon stock that stored in mangrove vegetation in the Ex-Tsunami Area is 36,03 tonnes/ha in the West-South of Aceh

Abstract

Fishing has contributed to an increase in the fishing economy is reasonably sufficient especially in the region of Meulaboh. The intensity of the high current arrests tend to ignore resource sustainability of fish. The increasing activity of catching fish can experience a decrease in fish stocks at rumpon, however this will negatively impact populations and patterns of growth in terms of length and weight of the fish. This research aims to analyze the frequency of long length-weight relationships, and the fish that was caught on the rumpon portable in West Aceh waters. The data collected in the form of the data length (fork length) were measured using a meter roll with a maximum length of 5 metres. Fish obtained from catches in experimental fishing for 30 trip using a capture tool output rod and assistive tools rumpon portable. The collected data is analyzed the frequency of long, long relationship of weight and length of fish caught prediction. The catch as much as 472 tail, the dominant fish caught during research on the measure of 17.5 cm. length of the tuna was first caught on the size 24.9 cm 15.5 cm kites, fish, yellow tail fish 14.7 cm and yellow 14.6 cm trevally fish. Length weight relationship mackerel krei y= 0, 0089x3,1293 R² = 0.9995, flying fish, y= 0 0068x3,1414 R² = 0.9987 yellow tail fish, y = 0, 0178x2,8971 R² = 0.9935 and trevally fish yellow y = 0, 0256x2,7779 R² = 0.9854.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesian marine waters have habitats for six species of sea turtles from seven species in the world, namely green turtles (green turtles, Chelonia mydas), olive ridley turtles (olive ridley, Lepidochelys olivacea), loggerhead turtles (loggerhead, Caretta caretta), hawksbill turtles (hawksbill, Eretmochelys imbricata), leatherback turtles (leatherback, Dermochely coriacea) and flatback turtles (flatback, Natator depressus). All types of turtles in Indonesia are protected under PP. 7 of 1999 concerning Preservation of Plant and Animal Species and PP No. 8 of 1999 concerning the Utilization of Wild Plant and Animal Species, which means that all trade in a state of life or death is prohibited. This is because almost all turtle species in Indonesia have experienced a decline in population so they are categorized as endangered

Abstract

Wonorejo river estuary is a wide estuary in Surabaya. It becomes mangrove conservation area. But, many land conversion from mangroves to ponds up to the dense pollution on the river neighbour make water quality issues especially for DO in that water. Based on this situation, the aim of this study is to find distribution of DO in Wonorejo river estuary, to know that water quality standard based on the quality standard criteria, and to know the effect of DO Wonorejo river estuary into estuarine ecosystem. A hydrodynamic and water quality model with MIKE 21 Hydrodynamics and ECO Lab module are used to examine distribution of water quality parameters in Wonorejo river estuary in one month at dry season. Validation used DO measurement in 10 sites along Wonorejo estuary at same season. Then, analyze the impact into estuarine ecosystem was used. DO concentration has interval 5,26 - 5,72 mg/L at high tide and 5,027 - 5,65 mg/L at low tide. After one month, DO in estuary has the highest concentration 5,536 mg/L. Based on literature, this concentrations can make shrimps growth bothered. But, this concentration is still not exceeding from quality standard for marine biota in Environment Ministry Regulation Number 51/2004. Optimizing the role of Local Government and mangrove rehabilitation according to procedures in the estuary area.
