Abstract

About 55% of postpartum mothers in Banyumanik and Ungaran districts in October 2019 experienced uterine subinvolution, and 75% of them experienced afterpains. Hot Herbal Compress could stimulate myometrium contraction required for uterine involution and analgesic effect. This study aimed to prove the effectiveness of hot herbal compress in accelerating uterine involution and afterpain recovery on postpartum mothers. This research used a quasi-experimental design—the investigation from 13 December 2019 until 26 January 2020 in Semarang. The authors grouped 42 postpartum mothers equally into experimental and control groups with random cluster sampling. The experimental group received a hot herbal compress for 20 minutes. The control group received uterus massage for 10 minutes and breathing exercises for 15 minutes. Both groups received the therapy 1x/day from the 2nd-10th day of the postpartum period. The observation of uterine fundal height by metlin, lochia volume by gravimetric, and afterpains intensity by visual analogue scale before and after the intervention every day. The analysis used Repeated Measure Anova. The experimental group's uterine fundal height, lochia volume, and afterpains intensity were consistently lower than the control group. There were significant differences between the experimental and control groups on a uterine fundal height on days 1-5 and 6-8, on lochia volume on days 5-6, and on the intensity of afterpains on days 1-4 (p < 0.05). The hot herbal compress effectively decreased the uterine fundal height on a uterine fundal size on days 1-5 and 6-8, reduced lochia volume on days 5-6 and effectively decreased afterpains intensity on days 1-4 on of postpartum mothers. This study recommends that midwives provide hot herbal compress therapy for the postpartum mother to accelerate uterine involution and recovery of afterpains.

Abstract

Normal labor is a complex physical and emotional experience for a mother, with pain being a major element in this process. The interaction between labor pain and maternal anxiety levels is an aspect that requires in-depth understanding, given its influence on the psychophysical well-being of both mother and baby. Although the scientific literature has highlighted the importance of pain and anxiety management during labor, comprehensive studies that consider the psychophysiological and subjective perceptual influences on this dynamic interaction are limited. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the relationship between pain in normal labor and maternal anxiety levels through a multivariable approach. This research method uses a quantitative approach with an analytic observational research type. The research design was conducted prospectively. This research method involves maternal respondents who experience normal labor, with data collection through measuring anxiety levels using standardized questionnaires and psychophysiological analysis using objectively measured parameters. In addition, a multivariable approach was used to analyze the complexity of the interaction between the variables involved. The sample size was 100 laboring mothers, randomly selected from the population of mothers who met the inclusion criteria. The population was mothers giving birth at TPMB Midwife Delima in Bandung City. Using cluster sampling, only 40 pomegranate midwives (10 sub-districts) were taken from a total of 127 pomegranate midwives from 30 sub-districts. The results showed that the average level of pain during labor reached 6.8 with an average duration of 8 hours. The average maternal anxiety level reached 55 on a scale of 0-100. A significant correlation was found between pain and anxiety (r = 0.68, p < 0.05), while psychophysiological influences such as frequency of uterine contractions and blood pressure also played a role in the experience of pain. Social support was also shown to influence anxiety levels (p = 0.005). These findings illustrate the complexity of interactions between psychophysiological and social aspects in the context of normal labor, providing a basis for the development of more targeted intervention strategies in the management of maternal pain and anxiety. The conclusion of this study shows that there is a significant relationship between pain in normal labor and maternal anxiety levels. Psychophysiological influences, such as frequency of uterine contractions and blood pressure, as well as social support, play an important role in determining the mother's experience during labor. Therefore, increased attention to pain management and provision of adequate social support may be key to reducing maternal anxiety levels. A suggestion for health practitioners is to strengthen efforts to integrate holistic pain management strategies and enhance aspects of social support during normal labor, in the hope of improving the mother's overall emotional and physical well-being.

Abstract

The indigenous population of Papua consists of various tribes, cultures, and languages, and they inhabit the coast, riverbanks, valleys and mountains, with the majority adhering to Christianity. As Christians, most Papuans believe in the Bible as their source of teaching and guidance. Unfortunately, until now, the Papuan people have experienced various limitations in teaching the Holy Bible. Tribal languages are one of the causes of the obstacles in question, so it is related to teaching and faith formation in several places that use local languages. This encourages local people called to the ministry to equip themselves with Bible knowledge and skills that will hopefully enable them to develop themselves to serve the people in the area in question. Researchers conducted a study of students at the Indonesia Cross-Cultural Institute. They found that literacy became the main obstacle for local missionaries in the interior of Papua in interpreting the contents of the Bible. The process of fostering students at Indonesia Cross-Cultural Institute includes three essential things: the Stage of Knowledge of God, the Stage of Character Building, and the Stage of Knowledge and Skills. The method used in writing this article is qualitative research conducted through interviews and literature studies. Finally, this article proposes steps churches and education providers can take for prospective church service workers in Papua.

Abstract

The East Timor region, encompassing Timor-Leste and adjacent territories, has been marked by the presence of significant oil resources, exerting profound influences on regional politics, economics, and societal dynamics. This paper delves into the historical backdrop, contemporary status, and prospective trajectories of oil within the East Timor region. Through an intricate analysis, it scrutinizes the multifaceted challenges and opportunities intertwined with oil extraction, production, and distribution, illuminating the socio-economic ramifications for local communities and the broader geopolitical framework. The historical narrative of oil exploration and exploitation in the East Timor region traces back to the colonial era, characterized by limited endeavors during Portuguese rule. However, the Indonesian annexation of East Timor in 1975 marked a pivotal juncture, igniting disputes over oil rights amidst resistance movements. Subsequent to the independence referendum in 1999, the issue of oil resources gained international prominence, culminating in Timor-Leste's independence in 2002 and subsequent negotiations with Australia over maritime boundaries and resource allocations in the Timor Sea. Oil production stands as a cornerstone of Timor-Leste's economy, furnishing the lion's share of government revenue. Key oil fields such as Bayu-Undan and Greater Sunrise serve as primary sources, yet the equitable distribution of oil revenue remains contentious, fueling protracted negotiations and legal battles between Timor-Leste and Australia. Despite its oil wealth, Timor-Leste confronts challenges in fostering economic diversification, grappling with overreliance on oil revenues and susceptibility to global market fluctuations. Endeavors to establish a sovereign wealth fund and bolster investments in infrastructure and human capital are underway to mitigate risks and foster long-term economic resilience.

Abstract

In the accelerating shift towards renewable energy, a phenomenon termed 'greenflation' is emerging as a critical factor influencing global economic policies. This paper delves into the concept of greenflation, characterized by the inflationary pressures stemming from the transition to green energy sources. Through a comprehensive literature review, we analyze the multifaceted impact of greenflation on sustainable economic policies. We explore the dynamics between the increasing demand for renewable energy resources and the corresponding rise in their prices, considering the implications for both developed and developing economies. The paper also examines how greenflation challenges traditional economic models and necessitates the formulation of innovative policy frameworks that balance environmental sustainability with economic stability. By synthesizing existing research, this study aims to provide a nuanced understanding of greenflation and its implications, paving the way for informed policy-making in the era of energy transition.
