Abstract The aim of this research is to find ou tthe most appropriate step to anticipate the drop-out problem in State/Public Elementary School(SDN) and State /Public Junior High School (SLTPN), so that the fulfillment of compulsory education could be accomplished. The research is done by an action research, which is divided into three cycles. Every cycle consists of: planning, action, observation/ monitoring, and reflection to the observation. The writer had chosen 10 schools in South Kalimantan (5SDN and 5 SLTPN), which are relevant to the problem (from those schools there are 100 students from pre-prosperous family (pra sejahtera)). Data are collected by using questionnaires, observation, interviews, and are analyzed descripted in percentage. The results of this research are follows: (1) The first cycle: the action has succeeded to raise the students’ achievement from 6.59 to 6.96. (2) The second cycle: most of the students (60%) had understood “muatan local” (local content),(3) The third cycle: the students and the parents were able to run 81 kinds of small/ home industry (from muatan local), so that they could get benefit from their home industry and pay the school fee. PENUMBUHAN KETERAMPILAN TERPADU BERBAHASA INGGRIS MAHASISWA PESERTA MKDU BAHASA INGGRIS Gunawan Gunawan

Abstract This study is trying to optimize the effectiveness of English lecturers held in the non-English departments conducted by lecturers from the English Department of the Faculty of languages and Art (FBS) of the State University of Yogyakarta (UNY). To achieve the objective, this study sets the methods as: 1) selecting core material,2) developing activities in the lecturing, 3) training the candidate lecturers 4) implementing the designed instruction, 5)evaluating and discussing the results of the implementation of the instruction in the target classes. The learning processes run well in the seven target classes, but it runs so slowly in one target class because on belief conflict in the lecturer’s side. Positive aspects reported are: 1) the teaching method is practical, 2) easy to follow, 3) giving new experience and spirit to students; 4) continually given homework are promoting strong students’ motivation and spirit to study harder, 5) the exercises are helping students to have better understanding and competence of English; teaching materials, methods, and techniques are very effective; the teaching learning processes are felt very special, new, enjoyable, and promoting students’ competencies of English. Negative aspects reported are materials to learn are too much comparing to time available, too much of memorization, using uncommon terms, too much time used for discussing formulas, too much demanding of command on teaching materials and methods to the teachers, too many numbers of formative tests, short of rich examples for each type of sentences, lack intention of promoting oral communication. MODEL PERKULIAHAN BERDASARKAN KONSEP KINERJA PADA PEMBELAJARAN SEJARAH A. Daliman

Abstract This application of history lecturing model based on performance concept was meant to raise the quality of the learning process and the students’ achievement. To achieve that objective the lecturing model use the students oriented approach and multi-methods, consisting of: forum-lecturing, group task and work, discussion and seminar. The result of the research showed that the students’ achievement were high in formative as well as summative evaluation. There was no student got grade of E (0%). Grade D were only 7.2%, grade of C was only 38.2 %, grade B was 38.2% and the grade A was 16.4%. Thus the percentages of the grades of B and A was 50%. MOTIF SOSIAL DAN MOTIF PEKERJAAN GURU SLTP DI GUNUNGKIDUL Siti Irene Astuti Dwiningrum

Abstract This research is aimed at describing the profiles of social motif and work motif of the Junior Secondary School teachers in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. The population is the entire Junior Secondary School teachers in Gunungkidul Yogyakarta, whereas the sample is an intact class of training or 67 teachers, comprising 51 male and 16 female teachers. To reveal the profiles, three variables were measures namely: achievement motif, affection motif, and power motif. Five items on each variable were used to measure the social motif, and eight items of each variable was used to measure the work motif. The result shows that there is no gender difference in social as well as motif levels. Their profiles of the social motif and work motif are similar, namely: (1) the achievement motif is high (2) the affection motif is high, and (3) the power motif is moderate. PENGARUH INFORMASI KERJA DAN PENGALAMAN PRAKTIK INDUSTRI PADA KESIAPAN KERJA SISWA SMK Zamtinah Zamtinah

Abstract This research aims to find out the influence of employment-world information and industry practice experience toward the readiness of work-mental of the students in vocational school. The population of this research is all the third grade students of electrical engineering, SMK N 3 Yogyakarta. The data obtained was analyzed by using the technique of two predictors’ double regression with significant rate of 5%. The analysis result shows that: (1) the level of work mental readiness of the third grade students of Electrical Engineering, SMKN 3 Yogyakarta is very high with mean value 82.32; (2) There is influence of employment-world towards the readiness of work-mental at the significance rate of 5% with the regression coefficient of (b) = 0.418 and the amount of the effective information contribution of employment-world is 16.956%; (3) Ther is influence of industrial practice experience towards the readiness of work-mental at the significance rate of 5% with regression coefficient (b)= 0.641 and the amount of the effective information contribution of work-world is 25.725%; (4) There is a united influence between employment-world information and industrial practice experience toward the readiness of work-mental at the significance rate of 5% with the determination coefficient of 0.427. analysis result of two predictors regression found F=39.842. Abstract The purpose of this study is to determine a correlation between lecture listening intensity, textbook reading comprehension, in organization participation and rhetoric. The survey was conducted at Yogyakarta Islamic High School, and the sample was 100 students selected by simple random sampling. The study reveals that there are positive correlation between lecturer listening intensity and rhetoric, textbook reading comprehension with rhetoric, in organization participation and rhetoric, and furthermore, there is positive correlation between those three independent variables and rhetoric.
