Abstract

The aims of this research are: to improve the ability of teachers in elementary school utility the study media through team teacher of working area guide III district Grogol school year 2009/2010,The research was conducted at state elementary school of area guide III district Grogol school year 2009/2010 The research was an action research. The research of action this entangle 7 elementary school. The teacher of class VI as sampel and headmaster assist in monitoring, The subjects of research were headmaster at that elementary school, the teacher of class VI as sampel and headmaster assist in monitoring. The collect of data were obtained by indepth interviewing, observation, discussion with the subjects of the research, the study of documents, and test. Meanwhile, data analysis using critical analysis technique and comparative-descriptive technique. The research was conducted in three cycles and the objectives of research was obtained successfully. The results of this action research were: to improve the ability of teachers utility the study media through team teacher of working in elementary school teacher area III district Grogol Sukoharjo, namely equal to 12,71%. Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the form of learning intervention and behavior of Grade III mental retardation students in Pembina Special School Yogyakarta. While the indicator of type of learning intervention is teacher' performance in educating students, the Indicator of student's learning behavior is student's responses. The information gathered in the research is collected by using in-depth observation using camera recorder. The information then analyzed by describing the fact of students' characteristics based learning process. The research indicates that: (I). There are variety types of learning intervention in the aspects of learning stimulants, materials packaging, the numbers of tasks, and teacher's positions; (2) There are variety types of student's learning behaviors in responding teachers' instruction in the aspects of learning attitudes, interests and task responses. Abstract

This research is aim to increase the children positive appreciation to the culturally differentiotion, as the based to increase the quality of teaching that give the safe, comfort and condusive situation to the children on the teaching and learning process. This research is the next application and development of the research result that success to develop the multicultural teaching and learning process in the elementary school student. The approach that is used in the whole research is research and development (RD). The subject of the research is class teacher of 4th grade, the headmaster, the student, the elementary school committee, the official education in the Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta province, that are choosed by purposive sampling. The data collection technique is questionnaire, observation, interview, and documentation study that support by the focus group discussion(FGD) and also the logbook. The data analysis is quantitative and qualitative descriptive. The results of the study are: (1) the modul for the students as the teaching resource supplement in the multicultural teaching on grade 4th; (2) teacher guidance on the multicultural teaching in the form of modul fot 4th grade; (3) the increase of the teacher ability on the multicultural teaching, especially in the 4th grade elementary school student; (4) the implementation of multiculture cultivation in the elementary school students. Abstract

This research aims to increase the active participation of students in the learning process and civic skills who owned the students through the application of problem-based learning strategies. Civic skills is an essential component to have the student as the embodiment of good citizens. This research is a proactive classroom action research by Schmuck (1997). These research subjects are students and the Department of Preschool and Primary Education, Faculty of Education, State University of Yogyakarta who take courses in basic concepts of Civic Education. Data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed by reflecting the observations during the implementation of the action. Data validity checking technique used is the technique of triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the application of problem-based learning strategies in the learning of citizenship can enhance the active participation of students in the learning process. Increasing the active participation of students in the learning process makes the process of teaching and learning can take place effectively. In addition, through this method can improve the civic skills of students that possess. It can be seen from the increasing ability to perform analysis of problems that have been identified by each group. Keywords: Civic Skills, Problem-Based Learning

Abstract

This research is to explore the information about; 1 How much the environment in which learning support programs providing KPP in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Fabric cooperation partner organizations organizer unit KPP with relevant agencies to support the implementation of KPP programs, residents learn the characteristics KPP programs in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, the characteristics of educators KPP programs in the energy characteristics of the Special Region of KPP program, the availability of facilities and educational infrastructure at partner institutions organizers KPP program in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta 2). Implementation of learning in the program organizers partner agencies in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta of KPP. Include factors that support the implementation of learning programs at partner institutions KPP program organizers, the factors that hinder the implementation of learning programs at partner institutions KPP program providers in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, 3) benefits that have been obtained after a citizen study KPP program and how many graduates of the program KPP is absorbed in the business world. This research is an evaluation study with descriptive qualitative approach. Subject of this research is the program organizer KPP, Instructor program, residents or students studying and working partner of LPK Desanta Yogyakarta, LPK Bina Karya and LPK MaCell Education Center. Research conducted in may until September 2009, techniques of data collection is done by the method of observation, interviews and documentation. Engineering data analysis is done by stages of data reduction, data display phase and stage of collection and verification decisions. Validity of the data is carried out through trianggulasi source. The results showed: Organization of KPP either program conducted by the LPK Desanta Yogyakarta, LPK Bina Karya and LPK MaCell Educational Center begins with the identification of needs, which include labor, potential learners and educators, KPP program held for 3 months with the program specifically designed, with a comparison of theory and practice, 30: 70 as well as apprenticeship and placement of graduates, learning program specifically designed for KPP programs, supporting factor of this program is the support from government funds, available facilities and infrastructure, educators, and motivation of learners, Inhibiting factors derived from variations in learners' backgrounds, delays in fundraising. Viewed from the graduate program organized by KPP 3 LPK block that received funding grants from the department of Education, more than 80% absorbed in the world of work, general KPP program is very beneficial for the working world as well as to reduce unemployment. Abstract

The aim of this research was to improve students' thinking ability in science through the application of guided discovery. This research is a kind of class room action research. The subject is all of students in fifth-grade SD N Delegan II Dinginan Prambanan Sleman Yogyakarta. Before doing first action, researcher was improving lesson planning and student worksheet which is based on guided discovery strategies that is used in the action. This collaborative research consists of researcher, observer, and teacher. The students' thinking was obtained from observation data, scientific activity report, and formative test. The kind of data analysis technique is descriptive statistic. Implementating strategies in guided discovery that used open ended students' worksheet media, plus giving reward, giving the same chance of all students to be active, and giving individual responsibility in each group in presentation discussion sessions, had improved the ability of students' thinking from sufficient into good category. Abstract

Giving the less of critical thinking skills in the learning process could direct students to the habit of doing any activities without knowing the purpose and objective and the tendency why they are doing those activities. This will lead to the need of some efforts to develop the critical thinking skills through learning, which can be facilitated by thematical learning. The aspects of thematical learning facilitate the creating of chance for students to see and build the relationship of information conceptual between subject matters that would benefit to help developing students' critical thinking skills. The model of thematical learning to develop students' critical thinking skills is resulted from the research that consists of planning, implementation, and evaluation. The planning of thematical learning to develop critical thinking skills comprises of mapping the basic competencies, developing theme network, developing the syllabus, and organizing the RPP (Learning Implementation Planning). The implementation of thematical learning resulted from the development consists of introductory stage that comprises of two steps that are learning warm-up and theme orientation. The core stage consists of five steps, which are exploring and delivering the material, proposing the problem, searching the information, discussing and performing the work. The final stage comprises of one step, which is conclusion. The evaluation of thematical learning to develop critical thinking skills is evaluating the process and learning result. Abstract

The aim of this research were : (1) to raise the students' understanding in learning the counting operation concept of the whole number and the method of learning process by realistic approach; (2) to know how the process of learning by realistic approach and students' response towards the learning model. The method of research used was the classroom action research with the qualitative atmosphere. The research steps consisted of planning, action, observation and reflection. The data were analized by interpretative qualitative for the qualitative data and by descriptive statistics for the quantitative data. The learning by realistic approach in this research was carried out in two cycles; the first cycle was only one occurance and also for the second cycle. In the first cycle the result was not satisfying; the mean score of the test after the action carried out was only 51,52, though at the previous condition the mean score was only 40,611; where as the second cycle the result of the test after the action carried out had been 75,55. In the first cycle, the students'response and the class management had not been in accordance with the researchers'hope and the criteria stated. It was different from the second cycle; the process of the learning had been running well in accordance with the criteria stated. So is the case with the students'response; it showed that everything was good and positive. Key Words:  The Concept of Whole Number and the Learning by Realistic Approach
