Abstract

Sumberagung Village is one of the villages in Pesanggaran Subdistrict, Banyuwangi Regency, which has the potential to become a dragon fruit production center in Pesanggaran Subdistrict because it has quite a large planting area. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the decision of farmers in transferring rice farm management to dragon fruit farm management and to analyze the differences in income between rice farm management and dragon fruit farm management. The determination of the area was carried out using a purposive method. The sampling technique used cluster sampling. The method of analysis used logistic regression and t-test. Of the research: (1) The factors that significantly influence the farmer's decision making in changing the farm management are: income and land area, with a significance value of 0.025; and 0.021. (2) There is a significant difference between the income of a rice farm management farmer and a dragon fruit farm management farmer. The average income of rice farmer was IDR 38.756.378 / Ha / year, while dragon fruit farmer had an average income of IDR 116.741.669 / Ha / year.

Kombucha cascara is a cascara innovation product at UD Matt Coffee was produced starting in 2018 as a new product, so a sustainable business model is needed. The objectivers of this study are to (1) make kombucha cascara business mapping at UD Matt Coffee with TLBMC approach and (2) determine the decision making on TLBMC kombucha cascara elements using Plus Minus Implication Analysis (PMIA) method. The method of determining research area using purposive method at UD Matt Coffee in Sukorejo Village, Sumber Wringin District, Bondowoso Regency. The method of determining the sample used was purposive sampling based on the specified criteria. The data analysis used was TLBMC and PMIA. The result showed that (1) The mapping business model of the kombucha cascara at UD Matt Coffee with TLBMC approach can be described as a whole in three integrated layers, such as economic layer, environmental layer, and social layer. (2) Decision making on TLBMC kombucha cascara elements using the PMIA method gives a total PMIA score in sequence started from higher to the lowes score, such as environmental layer +41, economic layer +38, and social layer +37, shows that UD Matt Coffee’s current decision making in development of kombucha cascara is appropriate and feasible to continue because it has paid attention to all elements in the economic, enviromental, and social layers which is sustainability oriented.

Abstract

The role of two-way development communication (convergence) is important so that coconut farmers can obtain information and determine the right farming technology towards farming management which is increasingly advanced in increasing the capacity of coconut farmers. Convergence to increase the capacity of farmers can be achieved well if there is an understanding between farmers in the process. For this reason, it is necessary to have good communication in farming activities between fellow farming actors. This study aims to: (1) To describe the communication elements of coconut farmers in Indragiri Hilir Regency, (2) to describe the communication behavior of coconut farmers in Indragiri Hilir Regency, (3) to analyze the factors which influence the communication behavior of coconut farmers in Indragiri Hilir Regency. . The method used in this research is a survey method. The population of this study consists of people who work as independent farmers, being members of farmer group, and having participated in extension activities and being included as inhabitants in Keritang and Reteh Districts, Indragiri Hilir Regency. The sampling in this study is carried out by purposive sampling with a total sample of 140 farmers. The results of the study illustrate that all variables influence coconut communication behavior in Indragiri Hilir Regency. But the differences are the direction of the relationship and the level of significance. The factor that positively and significantly influences farmer behavior in Indragiri Hilir Regency is the variable of communication media.

Abstract

Risk level in South Sumatra differs based on the land typology in which Buay Madang Timur District in East OKU Regency with typical irrigation rice field typology has different risk level compared to Banyuasin Regency with its tidal land typology. This research was aimed to find out risk failure in two land typologies nad losses due to its risk. The calculation of Z score was used to calculate risk level using cross data section in year 2019. Data were collected from each district with 120 AUTP farmer participants consisted of 60 samples of tidal land typology and 60 technical irrigation. Which 60 samples consisted of 52 unclaimed farmers and 8 claimed farmers. Based Z score calculation of crop failure risk, it was resulted that technical irrigation land typology in OKU Regency had 44% risk level due to rat and planthopper attack, compared to 49% tidal land typology in Banyuasin Regency that caused rat attack. Risk impact due to crop failure was then calculated using the Value at Risk (Var) method. Results showed that crop failure losses in East OKU Regency were equal to Rp. 11.304.361,- for each planting season while in Banyuasin Regency it was Rp. 12.445.273,-. Thus, the impact of crop failure risk in tidal land typology was greater than technical irrigation.

Abstract

Strawberry (Fragaria sp.) is a type of fruit that has high economic value. An to increase the income of strawberry farmers is by intercropping with leek. To understand the efficiency of the farming the by using production input. This research aims to 1) analyze the effect of the use of production factors, 2) analyze the level of efficiency in the use of production factors, and 3) to analyze the profit level of intercropping strawberries-leek in Serang Village, Karangreja District, Purbalingga Regency. There are 35 samples obtained using simple random sampling. The analysis was performed using the Cobb Douglass production function analysis, the NPM / BKM ratio and farm income analysis. The results of this research were the use of production factors, seed; area; labor; and insecticides partially affected the production of intercropping strawberries, while the production factors of chicken-husk fertilizer; NPK-Phonska fertilizer; other fertilizers; and fungicides had no effect on the production of intercropping strawberries. The production factors for seeds; labor; and insecticides have an NPM-BKM ratio value greater than one where the use of these inputs is not efficient. Meanwhile, the production factor for land area has an NPM-BKM ratio value of less than one where the use of these inputs is not efficient. R / C for cash costs was 4.61 and R / C for total costs was 1.09. The R / C value for both cash costs and total costs has a value greater than one, so the strawberry and leek intercropping farming in Serang Village can be said to be profitable.

Abstract

There are two methods of flue curing process used in virginia tobacco farmers in East Lombok, which are curing with fossil fuel and curing with local (alternative) fuels (candlenut shell, palm kernel shells, wood, and corn cobs). Now days, due to increasing fossil fuels price, farmer tend to use local fuels. The research objective was to compare the costs, income, and feasibility level of virginia tobacco farming on the use of various alternative fuels in the oven process in East Lombok Regency. The method used is descriptive survey method to 40 farmers. The cost of farming virginia tobacco using candlenut shell as fuel is Rp. 44,788,057/ha/planting season with an R/C ratio of 1.6 palm kernel shells of 45,081,109/ha/planting season with an R/C ratio of 1.5 wood of Rp. 49,498,452/ha/planting season with an R/C ratio of 1.4 and corn cobs of Rp. 39,184,196/ha/planting season with an R/C ratio of 1.8. The highest income is obtained from farmers who use corn cobs as fuel of Rp. 30,037,854/ha/planting season, the income of the farmers who use hazelnut shell and palm shell as fuel each is Rp. 25,938,788/ha/planting season and Rp. 23,757,891/ha/planting season. The lowest income using wood fuel is Rp. 16,883,748/ha/planting season. Because the R/C value is more than 1, it means that virginia tobacco farming using various alternative materials in the oven process in East Lombok Regency is feasible.
