Abstract

Fracture management affects the quality and quantity of osteogenic responses. Chitosan plays an important role in bone tissue engineering in the last two decades. Chicken eggshell contains apatite hydroxy, calcium, strontium, boron, zinc, copper, fluoride, magnesium, iron, and phosphorus which are needed in the process of bone healing. This is a comparative laboratory experimental research. There are 2 treatment groups. Rat’s right femur in both groups were fractured. There was no bone graft administration at Group I, whereas there was bone graft administration at group II. The bone graft was combination of citosan and eggshell. Histological examination was performed at 5th week and It was assessed by Salkeld score. In group I, the mean Salkeld histological score was 0.4 ± 0.5. In group II the mean Salkeld histological score was 1.2 ± 0.8. Kalseld's histology score in group II was higher than the first group. Based on the Mann-Whitney examination, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference (p <0.035) in the bone healing process between group I and group II.

Abstract

Candidiasis is an infection caused by the Candida. The most common type of Candida that causes infection is Candida albicans. Part of body that generally can be attacked by Candida there are, the mouth, folds of the skin, the nail area and around the genitals, both male and female. Warm weather specially in Indonesia with a tropical climate and wear a tight cloths also poor personal hygiene can be a trigger for the growth of fungi, especially in moist body parts. Moreover, if supported by weak body immune conditions. Treatment using natural plants is rampant because it has fewer side effects. Betel leaf as a natural material that has often been used since a long time ago, it has been empirically proven to have antifungal effects, both fungistatic and fungicidal. Previous research has proven that betel leaf extract can inhibit the growth of Candida albicans that isolated in agar media. The potential of betel leaf as antifungal depends on the content of the extract which plays an important role, phenol compounds, flavonoids and tannins which are able to denaturate fungal proteins so as to prevent the proliferation of fungi. Provision of betel leaf extract (Piper sp.) with a minimum concentration of 25% can inhibit the growth of fungi and a maximum concentration of 100% can kill the growth of fungi Candida albicans.

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a new kind of disease that has never been identified before in humans. The disease is caused by the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (Sars-CoV-2), which will make the person who is attacked have symptoms of pneumonia. Ocular transmission in the case of COVID-19 should not be ignored. Obtained data on a study conducted in China, positive patients with COVID-19 can have ocular manifestations, such as epiphora, conjunctival congion, chemosis, and these occur in patients with more severe systemic manifestations. Other studies also indicate the presence of clinical manifestations that meet the criteria of acute viral conjunctivitis. Ocular transmission can occur because when a pathogen in the eye, it is partially absorbed by the cornea and the conjunctiva and is largely flowed into the nasal cavity through the nasolacrimal tract and then transported to the lower part of the respiratory tract, including the nasopharynx and trachea, or swallowed into the gastrointestinal tract. This allows the pathogens about the eye to be carried up to the respiratory tract and the gastrointestinal tract.

Based on univariate analysis found low self efficacy of 6.6%, moderate self efficacy of 77.6%, and high self efficacy of 15.8%. At the level of anxiety found not experiencing anxiety 23.5%, mild-moderate anxiety 71.0%, and severe anxiety 5.5%. Based on bivariate analysis with Gamma test, there was a significant correlation between self-efficacy and anxiety with a value (p = 0,0001), with the degree of closenses of a strong negative correlation ( = -0.657). The conclusion if self-efficacy higher then anxiety level gets lower, vice versa.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunting in Gunung Sugih District, Lampung Tengah Regency, Lampung Province is high for stunting category in Indonesia. Nutritional status in stunting can be measured by body mass index according to age (BMI /A). Stunting has anemia as hemodynamic problems due to lack of iron (Fe) intake. The parameter which is used for measure anemia is hemoglobin. This study aims to determine the relationship between BMI in stunting children and hemoglobin levels as a marker of anemia. Observational analytic method with cross sectional approach was used in this study with 35 samples (cluster random sampling). Primary data are height, weight, body mass index (BMI) and hemoglobin (Hb) levels as measured by Hb Meter (Dr.Family®). Data analysis was performed by Pearson correlation test. Obtained a normal BMI of -0.51SD with a percentage of 94.3%. Hb levels with a mean of 10.4 g/dL and 57.1% of children had anemia. The results of the Pearson correlation test found that Ho was received with value of p=0.511 (p>0.05) and had a positive correlation (r=0.115). This study did not show a significant relationship between body mass index (BMI) of hemoglobin (Hb) levels as a marker of anemia in stunting infants in Gunung Sugih District, Central Lampung Regency.

Abstract

Achalasia is a rare esophageal motility disorder that results from decreased or the absence of ganglion-blocking cells in the esophageal myenteric plexus and lower esophageal sphincter (LES). This results in the inability of the LES to relax as well as the dysfunction of the esophagus. Patients usually present with symptoms of dysphagia. Surgical therapy in Achalasia is known as Heller myotomy (Esopageal myotomy), a procedure in which the muscles around the esophagus are opened and cut. Conventional surgery uses a long incision in the chest and abdomen provides a very good result in decresing the symptoms, with a efficacy level from 88% to 95% and lasting for 6 to 10 years. For example, in the case of Mr. Y, 51 years old came with disfagia since approximately 1 year ago. The patient also complained losing weight for 10kg in the past 6 months. The physical examination of the patient are compost mentis. Blood pressure 170/100 mmHg, heart rate 80x / minute, respiratory rate 20x / minute, temperature 37.0oC. Examination of extremities and neuromuscular are normal. At radiological examination, a rontgent was obtained with the appearance of an esophageal dilatation.
