Abstract

Based on the 1945 Constitution, original or ammended, the form of  Indonesian countyr is a unitary state, while its form of government is republican. Meanwhile, the government system, based on the original 1945 Constitution is not a pure presidential system of government or quasi-presidential system. This is because the Assembly’ role is large enough in managing state life. The President is the mandatory of the Assembly, so his position is highly dependent on the votes of the legislative (DPR) and the Assembly (MPR). In the post-reform era, after going through four amendments, Indonesian system is no longer a impure presidential administration, but was moving away as a pure presidential system. This is based on the following indicators. First, the President is no longer be mandatory of the Assembly, so it does not depend on it. Secondly, the position of the Assembly and the President are equally high as the state agency. Third, the president is elected directly by the people, no longer elected by the Assembly. Key words: state structure, form of government, systems of government.

Abstract

Body provides the contexts as well as the outcomes of social changes in the public sphere of Muslim societies. However, bodies are not conceptually developed enough in the context of Indonesian social sciences. This article aims at outlining theoretical explorations of body in social theory, useful to understand the contemporary development in Islamic public sphere as well as the shift in political Islam. Drawing from a micro-study on the Islamic public sphere in Turkey and my own ethnographic work in South Sulawesi, I argue that Islamic public sphere can be approached conceptually and materially by analyzing bodies as its object of analysis. Analysing the body in the public sphere allows us to understand the current trend for Islamic visibilities and also strategy, particularly that of woman, to challenge the public sphere through their bodies. Key words: body, social theory, Islam, public space

Abstract

One of the implementations of Multiple Intelligences (MI) theory is to view all students intelligent in their own talents. This concept has replaced the concept of intelligence Quotient (IQ) which unconsciously has differentiated students to be intelligent and stupid. This concept, in the past, became one of the barriers for the “stupid” students to get their education appropriately, and this was clearly to be in the contrary with the philosophy of Education for All (EFA), for every student, whatever their “intelligences” are, has his/her right to get the basic education. The advantage of the implementation of “Multiple Intelligences” concept on learning instruction is that this concept uses developmental approach, therefore it focuses more on the students’ strengths to be developed; while the concept of “Intellectual Intelligence” still uses  remedial approach, therefore it focuses more on the students’ weaknesses to be remedied. This approach is also in the contrary with the learning principle of the Behaviorism which considers “reward” in higher priority than “punishment” in learning process. This article discusses the concept of MI, how to stimulate it, and its implementation on learning instruction. Keywords: Multiple Intelligences, stimulate, implementation on learning instruction
