Abstract

In the Opening (Preambule) of the 1945 Constitution, it has been stated that one of the Republic of Indonesia government’s goals is to smarten the national life. Thus, if the goal is achieved, then output obtained is intelligent Indonesian figures. The question needs to be forwarded is: What is actually the meaning of “intelligent”? Can education be said qualified if it just guide its pupils to be intellectually intelligent? In other words, what intelligent Indonesian Figures are expected by this country? The Department of National Education in the long term of the 2025 Strategic Plan about Building National Education mentioned that national education vision in 2025 wishes to yield intelligent, and Competitive Indonesian Figures. What meant by “intelligent” here is comprehensivelyintelligent, including spiritual, emotional and social, intellectual, and kinestetic intelligent (the Department of National Education, 2005).The national education vision can be achieved through long educationprocess at schools. As known that education is able to include bothacademic and non-academic education, so the development of the fourkinds of intelligence and competitive characteristic can be includedthrough education. Education strategy used can be done by meansmaking inclusive goal aspects that is going to be achieved into coconcentric curriculum. It means that education materials provided fromthe kindergarten up to the high school, even to university always containgoal aspects that are going to be reached and be increased graduallyboth in content and concentration in the higher education degree. Inaddition, it is necessary to pay attention that the institutionalization ofeducation goal aspects should be done as appropriate and balancewithout ignoring any roles of the aspects. In this matter, besides therelationships of inter-intelligence between physical one and spiritual onehad to be balance and mutually support, then the relationships of intraintelligence, that is, between spiritual one, emotional and social one, as well as intellectual one should be appropriate and balance. Keywords : comprehensively intelligent, competitive.

Abstract

A career developed through the optimization of one’s potentials will irrevocably play a role in the development of self-identity as well as the psychological well-being of the individual. When children are introduced and allowed to explore as many career options as possible during their developmental stage, they are more likely to have a fruitful career development in the future. The preceding study showed that the career interests and knowledge of lower-grade primary students fit the Holland Career Categories: realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional (RIASEC). It was also found that the students’ career interest and knowledge levels varied, with most in the low level. This second-year study aims to expand the results of the previous study by developing the use of Quartet cards as the media of career exploration for lower-grade primary students. By using the research and development method, this study develops Quartet Career Cards into three difficulty levels: low, medium, and high. The Quartet cards media have undergone feasibility tests conducted by experts in theory and media, as well as a series of field testing consisting of preliminary, main, and operational stages among a total of 266 primary students of grades 1, 2, and 3. A revision was made on several components including the images, information, colors, font sizes, illustration styles, and card sizes. The findings show that Quartet Career Cards meet the feasibility standards for the media of career exploration

Abstract

One of the implementations of Multiple Intelligences (MI) theory is to view all students intelligent in their own talents. This concept has replaced the concept of intelligence Quotient (IQ) which unconsciously has differentiated students to be intelligent and stupid. This concept, in the past, became one of the barriers for the “stupid” students to get their education appropriately, and this was clearly to be in the contrary with the philosophy of Education for All (EFA), for every student, whatever their “intelligences” are, has his/her right to get the basic education. The advantage of the implementation of “Multiple Intelligences” concept on learning instruction is that this concept uses developmental approach, therefore it focuses more on the students’ strengths to be developed; while the concept of “Intellectual Intelligence” still uses  remedial approach, therefore it focuses more on the students’ weaknesses to be remedied. This approach is also in the contrary with the learning principle of the Behaviorism which considers “reward” in higher priority than “punishment” in learning process. This article discusses the concept of MI, how to stimulate it, and its implementation on learning instruction. Keywords: Multiple Intelligences, stimulate, implementation on learning instruction
