Abstract

This article was motivated by the problem of muhadatsah learning that there was no compatibility between the material and the student's environment. It made the students felt difficult to practice the material learned. Muhadatsah is the material to practice student conversation in Arabic. The purpose of this study was to develop a muhadatsah textbook based on contextual teaching and learning. The data of this study were obtained from interviews with muhadatsah teachers, field observations and questionnaires to experts. This book was suitable for teaching conversation and in accordance with the results of product evaluations from experts and product experiment results from students. The results of the product evaluation from the material expert were 93%, from Arabic Language expert were 94% and from design expert were 91%. The product trial results from the students were 88%. The development of muhadatsah textbooks based on contextual teaching and learning had a significant effect on improve speaking skills, improving student learning outcomes and making students more active in learning. Hence, this paper suggested the teacher and institution in solving the problems in Arabic learning especially muhadatsah.

Abstract

Speaking skill is considered the most difficult to learn. On the other hand, speaking subject is considered a failure in providing competence to students. This can be proven by the lack of student's ability to speak Arabic and the value of learning outcomes. This study aimed to develop cybernetic-based kalam materials that can be used by students at the junior high school level as innovations in the use of teaching materials and learning theory. This research used the RD method by adapting the six steps of Borg and Gall model development. Meanwhile, a small group trial was conducted on 24 students of an Islamic junior high school in Ogan Ilir, using by purposive random sampling technique. This research resulted in kalam material products using the Canva application. The validation of material experts is 84% and media experts get 90.76% so it can be concluded that the product developed is suitable for use with the revisions suggested by validators.  Based on the comparison of pretest results showed an average of 48.33 and the post-test results were 78.33. Then continued with the nonparametric test, namely the Wilcoxon test. This test was chosen because the data is not distributed normally. Asimp Wilcoxon. Sage. (2-tailed) equals 0.000. Since the value of 0.000 is less than 0.05, it can be concluded that the "hypothesis is acceptable". The results of the effectiveness test showed the development of Cybernetic-based speaking materials in improving knowledge and skills in speaking languages.

Abstract

The Arabic-Javanese translation method is one of the Arabic translation methods commonly used in Arabic language teaching and learning in pondok pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) in Indonesia. This method was considered to be able to facilitate students in understanding Nahwu. This article aimed to determine the influence of the use of Javanese-Arabic translation methods in the book of Tafsir Jalalain on the mastery of nahwu of the students and its influence. Quantitative approaches and bivariate correlational analysis were uesed. The data about the students’ mastery in nahwu was collected by using multiple choice test instruments and essays which were tested on 6th grade students of Madrasah Diniyah Islamic Boarding School Karangasem Muhammadiyah Lamongan with a sample of 20 students. The sample determination was based on a simple random sampling technique. There was a significant positive influence between Javanese-Arabic translation and the students’ mastery in nahwu, which was 0.910 on the sig. 0.000 or 0.05. In addition, based on the results of the regression linear test, an increase in the Javanese-Arabic translation score will increase the nahwu mastery score by 1,014. Hence, it could be stated that use of the Javanese-Arabic translation method helped the students in understanding the the rules of nahwu. Based on the findings, the Javanese-Arabic translation method was recommended to be applied in Islamic boarding schools with Kitab Kuning (Yellow Book) learning system, especially for Islamic Boarding Schools in Java.

Abstract

Textbooks writing must consider the theories put forward by experts who are competent in their field. In this study, the researcher examined textbooks for Islamic junior high school (Madrasah Tsanawiyyah) with guidelines of the research on the theory put forward by Muhammad Ali Al-Khuli. The purpose of this study was to find out whether the mufrodat and tarkib material presented in textbooks was in accordance with the theory presented by Muhammad Ali Al-Khuli. This type of research was library research. The data sources were textbooks and supporting sources such as books, articles, and documents related to the research. Meanwhile, content analysis was used in analyzing the data. Based on the results of the study, it was found that there were still presentations of mufrodat and tarkib that were not in accordance with the theory of linguists. This could affect the process of acquiring a second language for students. If the presentation of the material were not in accordance with the expert's explanation, the acceptance of the material would be less than optimal. It was expected that there would be improvements to the books that are already in circulation. For the printing of the next edition, the editor would be expected to check thoroughly before the book is printed and distributed.

Abstract

This research aims to develop Camtasia studio-based learning video products for Arabic Language Education students, focusing on the stages of learning video design and media feasibility analysis and Camtasia Studio-based learning video materials. This research was conducted to provide alternative learning media that can be prepared by lecturers so that students are not bored and enthusiastic about attending lectures. This research used the Research and Development (RD) method with the ADDIE model covering 5 stages, namely, (a) analyzing needs so that video products that need to be developed can be found; (b) designing video products as required; (c) conduct testing and development of video products; (d) use video products and product trials and (e) evaluate and assess each step of the activities and video products that have been created by specifications.  This research involves media experts and material experts as well as 30 students who will test the video product. The results of the trial of Camtasia studio-based learning media products averaged 86% and 92% of material expert validation scores so that they got the "feasible/valid" category. The results of product trials (limited product trials) received an average score of 80% and 93% with the category "very valid". So, it can be concluded that Camtasia studio-based learning media is feasible and can be used for lecturers and students of Arabic Language Education.

Abstract

The difficulty of the dauq al-lughat approach to be applied in balaghah learning for non-Arabic speakers like Indonesia raised alternative psycholinguistic approaches as a follow-up in maximizing language acquisition and language production. This article intended to conduct in-depth research on the urgency of psycholinguistics, especially in Balaghah learning. Library research was the research method of this article. Primary data sources were the book entitled ”An Introduction to Psycholinguistics” by Steinberg and Natalia and ”Jawahirul Balaghah” by Sayyid Ahmad Al-Hasyimy. The source of secondary data were obtained from other books and journals related to psycholinguistics and balaghah learning. Data collection techniques were carried out through two ways of reading data, namely symbolic level and semantic level. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verification. This article showed that the important role of psycholinguistics in balaghah learning was to examine the background of the problem from errors in understanding the meaning of language and the steps for handling it (problem solving). Psycholinguistic implications in learning Balaghah was to provide a more effective learning atmosphere in strengthening students’ competence and to encourage students’ achievement.

Abstract

Education is part of human’s life and it may be different in its performance and process according to time and place with its challenges. Educational challenges had made the education scientists and teachers of their efforts and innovation to analyze its problem in order to achieve the desired educational goals. This study aimed to reveal the conditions of education in an era in which Al-Shatiby lived with its challenges, problems, the role in addressing it to society and the possibility of applying his thoughts in teaching the Arabic language to non-native speakers with its challenges in our contemporary era. The educational activities of the Arabic language for non-native speakers face its problems and challenges from the other sides. The descriptive method was used to obtain Al-Shatiby's books related to education, the book of approvals as a basic reference in the study and educational references for the Arabic language. Al-Shatiby was well known as a great educator who was concerned with education and mentor of teachers. Besides, he was a jurist, a renewed fundamentalist and an innovative linguist. According to him, worship was the spirit of education and the seeker of knowledge was concerned with decent ethics. The process of education built on four pillars of education should not be separated such as worthwhile science, productive teacher, desired method, and energized learner.

Abstract

Learning methods have an important position in achieving learning objectives. One of the reasons for the slow achievement of the goals that have been set is the inaccuracy in choosing the method. The Audiolingual method as applied by Arabic learning practitioners has been able to improve the quality of Arabic learning processes and outcomes. Therefore, this article explains, reveals, and analyzes in depth the Audiolingual method in theory and practice. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach. Research data were collected from library sources relevant to the research theme. The research data were analyzed in terms of content analysis by comparing various opinions of experts, the researcher concludes by determining the position among the existing opinions.  The result of the research is the Audiolingual method, which is a language learning method that emphasizes understanding what is listened to. This method emerged based on the behaviorism approach. In practice, the Audiolingual method is equipped with exercises on sentence patterns that aim to improve student's communication skills. The findings can be further developed by further researchers by examining the use of the Audiolingual method in various educational institutions through action, development, or research in the form of evaluation.

Abstract

Imperative and prohibition structures are the significance knowledge in Arabic learning  about the forms and meanings. This study aimed to identify and analyze the stylistic form and meaning of imperative and prohibition structures in al-Qiroah al-Wafiyah Book by rethorical aspects. The qualitative desk research was applied with mainly the descriptive method in processing and presenting various styles of imperative and prohibition within the al-Qiroah al-Wafiyah book as the primary source. Those structures were collected by documentation technique and analyzed by using the content analysis and classifying the styles based on the rethoric analysis including both form and meaning. The result of the analysis showed that the occurrence of 44 styles of both structures, 35 styles of imperative and 9 styles of prohibition in detail. Moreover, the imperative forms consist of imperative verb, imperative noun, imperative infinitive, and imperative present tense. In addition, the prohibition froms encompassed only the present tense with the final “no”. In line to the meaning of the imperative constructions, it pointed several reliances; guidance, permission, honor, consideration, formation, and supplication. The prohibiton pointed the sense of guidance and hatred. By this research, it is possible to differentiate its structure and more realize that each structure has its style and meaning.

Abstract

Arabic language had linguistic skills in its application. The Second Ayah (verse) of Surah Yusuf informed that there was a correlation between language skill and the brain. In terms of semantics, the choice of pronunciation and word in Al-Qur’an was based on the reason and the wisdom behind it. This article is necessary for language learning research by using neurology as a new approach in language skills learning. This article aimed to analyze and reveal a correlation and an appropriateness between the language skills in the Arabic language and the process of the human mind as mentioned in Surah Yusuf, the second verse. The data and evidence were obtained from books related to the subject of the research, a dialogical analysis between three scientific disciplines, such as commentary books, Arabic learning and neurology, with the method of content analysis of Al-Quran. The results of this research showed that the appropriateness of language skills in the Arabic language and the process of the human mind based on Surah Yusuf at the second verse were achieved. This result was reached based on three aspects, and it is from the opinions of scholars, interpreters, linguistics, and neurology. On the other hand, it was confirmed through this scientific research that there is no contradiction between the correct transmission and the frank reason. This article confirmed that the learning theory about maharah lughawiyah has the correlation with the workings of the human brain, according to what was stated in Surah Yusuf at the second verse.
