Abstract

Management change of currency exchange rate has implication in fluctuation conduct of exchange rate and domestic economy. This study aims to examine the impact of shock in exchange rate to macroeconomics variable such as, inflation, output, and current account in different exchange rate system in Indonesia. The method of this study is structural vector Autoregressive. The result of the study shows that management change of exchange rate system from managed floating exchange rate to free floating exchange rate does not change relationship path of exchange rate to inflation, output, and current account. The relationship path which is done shows that exchange rate depreciation to the variable above consistent with the theory. Depreciation of domestic exchange rate increases the inflation, output, and current account. However, a bit different result is seen from the influence of exchange rate depreciation to the output. In managed floating exchange rate period, the exchange rate depreciation will evoke the output contraction before finally increase in the output.

Abstract

Production inefficiency usually is analyzed by using two efficiency approaches, technical and allocative efficiency. This study performs direct calculations of the technical efficiency of rice farming in Java by using the stochastic frontier and inefficiency that influence on a model. The data consisted of the 2007 Patanas Data released by the Center for Socio Economic and Agricultural Policy, Agricultural Research and Development Agency, Ministry of Agriculture, conducted in three provinces of West Java, Central Java and East Java that are implemented in several major rice producing districts. The result of this study indicated that the production of paddy rice field in West Java, Central Java and East Java where positively influenced by the extensive paddy fields, the number of seeds used, urea fertilizer and ZA, TSP, KCL and NPK fertilizers as well as the number of labors family and non family. Accessibility factors on education, credit and extension service where significantly affected upon the inefficiency of in the province of West Java, Central Java and East Java.

Abstract

BPK report in 2011 on the financial statements of local government show there are 1401 case of weakness due to accounting and reporting. This poses problems for local governments to improve the quality of financial reporting is characterized by the release of opinion. Implementation of the financial accounting system will not be adequate without the support of the organization’s commitment in creating good quality financial statements. This study examined the effect of the regional financial accounting system on the quality of financial statements with organization commitment as moderating variable. Data were collected from 28 of the accounting department in Kabupaten Karawang. Data were analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results of empirical studies indicate that theregional financial accounting system has a significant effect on the quality of financial reporting. Similarly, by adding commitment of the organization as moderating variable, the regional financial accounting system has a significant effect.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain empirical evidence and find clarity of the development of personality values associated with achievement motivation, self efficacy and entrepreneurial commitment and its impact on business performance of seaweed small in province of South Sulawesi. The method used is survei research with data collection techniques using questionnaires to determine the small-scale seaweed entrepreneurs’ assessment to the variables studied. The type of research is descriptive-verification. Sample size of 387 respondents drawn through proportional cluster random sampling technique from the targeted population of 11 370 small-scale seaweed entrepreneurs spread over ten districts of South Sulawesi province. To test the hypothesis proposed, structural equation modeling (SEM) is used as a model framework that is composed through the measurement model and structural model of causal relationships among variables. The implication of this study is that the entrepreneurial commitment has contributed a more dominant influence of achievement motivation and self efficacy on the business performance, either directly or indirectly through an entrepreneurial commitment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of shopping orientation towards the purchase of clothing in distro based on personality and gender. The samples were consumers who make purchases clothing in distro in Purwokerto. The sample size in this study was 100 respondents. Sampling is done by purposive sampling method. Analytical tool used are the path analysis and T- test independent samples. The results of this study were need for advice orientation, shopping for fun orientation has positive influence on shopping decisions on distro, while quick shopping orientation has not positive influence both in extrovert and introvert personality, both in male and female respondents. There were no differences, need for advice orientation, quick shopping orientation and shopping for fun orientation between extrovert and introvert personality. Need for advice orientation dan quick shopping orientation male’s were higher than its female but shopping for fun orientation female’s was higher that its male.

Abstract

This research is conducted by applying descriptive and verifying method. Sampling technique used is proportional random sampling with number of sample is 221 samples. The analysis tool utilized is path analysis. The result of this research shows that: 1) the condition and implementation of Human Resources Management (HRM) Strategies, implementation of organization culture as well as managerial performances at PTPN IV and PTPN III are categorized good; 2) the correlation among independent variables are moderate. The lowest result of this correlation is 0.432 for variable X2 and X3, while the strongest correlation is 0.513 for variable X1 and X3; 3) there is significant influence of all independent variables on organization culture at PTPN IV and PTPN III that is 79.423%; 4) there is significant influence of organization culture variables on managerial performances at PTPN IV and PTPN III North Sumatera that is 87.70%.

Abstract

There are many studies about factors influencing the hospital service quality. They’re focused on those aspects of the services directly felt by the patient. Problems that cause the low service quality had been studying, continually. In this preliminary study, factors influencing the service quality that are related to clinical human resources competency are explored. Factors that mediate the relationship between human resource competency and service quality, namely job satisfaction, also discussed in this study so as to obtain a comprehensive picture of the factors that cause the service quality. This study is an exploratory study. A single case study was executed at a private hospital in Bandung. A number of semi-structured interviews were executed with a number of doctors, hospital managers and nurses. Questionnaires were distributed to a number of nurses. The results showed that the the clinical human resource competency influences the hospital service quality through job satisfaction.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of board of directors to operational risk disclosure of Indonesian banks. Board of directors are identified as the board size, the composition of independent commissioners, the composition of woman commissioners, educational background of president directors, and the number of board meetings. This study also uses profitability and the composition of independent audit committee members as control variable. The level of operational risk disclosure is measured based on identified items of Lampiran Surat Edaran Bank Indonesia No.5/21/DPNP/2003. Under purposive sampling, secondary data of 46 annual reports year 2008-2009 of banks in Indonesian Stock Exchange are selected. The result of multiple regression shows that the size of board of directors affects the level of operational risk disclosure. Board of directors is the core of corporate governance, charged ensuring strategic guidance, monitoring management, and providing accountability. Other variables, the composition of independent commissioners, the composition of woman commissioners, educational background of president directors, and the number of board meetings are not good predictors for level of operational risk disclosures.

Abstract

Issue of intra-industry trade (IIT) is increasingly discussed, since the concept was introduced by the Grubel-Lloyd in 1975. Empirically, the concept of IIT was developed in the 1980s in modern industrialized countries which coincidentally posses common endowment of factors, which tend to be capital intensive. The objectives of the study are threefold to obtain a figure of the intensity of IIT between Indonesia and ASEAN-4, to collect empirical evidence, examine and explain the factors that influence the intensity of IIT Indonesia with ASEAN-4. This study used Grubel-Lloyd Index and panel data analysis. The study showed the following results: Firstly IIT of Indonesian’ manufactures to ASEAN market-4 tend to experience a shift during the period 1985 to 2009 according to SITC categories The high commodity index in the initial year was declining over time in the subsequent years. Share intensity of IIT between Indonesia with four ASEAN member countries are included non IIT category because it was < 40%. Secondly, the intensity of IIT in manufactures based on ISIC category can be included in the category of IIT because it was ≥ 40%, namely 47.65%, while the remaining 52.35% is still belong to the non-IIT category. Thirdly, the estimation of the independent variables of the econometric model using FEM method, showed the following results: the intensity of labor and the economies of scale indicated no significant positive value. Market structure, product differentiation and dummy economic integration showed a significant positive value.
