Abstract

This study aims to describe process implementation of peer tutor - in lesson study  especially writing class. This research is qualitative research conducted on even semester students of the English study program at STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu, Lampung. The data collection technique uses questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis uses Interactive Model which consists of collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing data. The result research was students feel learning process given organized and not only process but also the tasks were given structure. It helps students in understanding and reached the purpose of learning easily. Keywords: peer tutor, lesson study, chapter design.

Abstract

The research aim was to know the effect of English Pronunciation: Speak/ Pronounce English? toward the students? pronunciation. This study is pre-experimental design.  The sample was 35 students from English for Nurse 1 class of STIKes Aisyah Pringsewu. Instrument used to test  the competencies  is using 126 words from the minimal pairs poem entitled ?English is Tough Stuff?. It had progress based on the data that the ? ? of correct words in pretest, 40.35, it is increasing in post-test, ? ? 116. It is suggested that the application should be developed into the type that brings various benefit. Keywords: Articulation, Application, Technology

Abstract

This study is Mix-Method Research applying exploratory design which aims to 1) know that the use of Google Classroom in Writing learning process can arouse students? learning interest and motivation; 2) know that Google Classroom can be used to improve student?s writing ability. The participants were the forth semester students of STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu Lampung in academic year 2018/2019. Questionnaire, documentation, and test had been used to collect the data which was then analyzed using phased qualitative?quantitative analysis. The result showed that Google Classroom could encourage students to write, and help them to improve their writing ability. Keywords: Google Classroom, Writing Learning Process.

Abstract

Current era demands educators to deal with technology. Seeing that most students of university are supported with abundant facilities in learning nowadays, lecturers need to get familiar with current issues and technologies to encounter it. Role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in pedagogy will facilitate lecturers in teaching and learning process as well as improving their professionalism. It is a qualitative research with fifteen lecturers as the sample of research. The result shows that although all lecturers have used ICT for teaching, they apparently still need traditional medium such as whiteboard since ICT is also lack in some parts. Keywords: ICT, teaching technology, teaching media

Abstract

This study investigated to what extended do students used social media related to academic purposes and its impact on students? academic performance. This study applied a qualitative research method through using of social media and academic performance of students? questionnaire (SMAAPOS) adapted from Osharive (2015). The result showed that social media could be used as means of communication among students, and students to lecturer.  The students also used the social media to get better understanding on the course taken. Abstract

The aim of research  is to identify the effects and advantages of providing explicit strategy instruction to enhance students? reading comprehension at English for Islamic Studies class of IAIN Pontianak. This was a classroom action research, and its data were collected through reading comprehension test, observation, interview, and document review. Then, the data were analysed though interactive model data analysis. The results showed that, after providing explicit instruction of comprehension strategy, students? reading comprehension improved for they became more strategic and more metacognitive when reading after being introduced with reading comprehension strategy explicitly.

Abstract

This article reveals the phenomenon of speaking anxiety in two foreign languages, Arabic and English, simultaneously studied by students of Islamic junior high school in Indonesia.  It is aimed at analyzing the differences of level, causes as well as coping strategies of speaking anxiety in Arabic and English faced by the respondents.A survey inquiry was conducted by employing questionnaires to gather the data of respondents?level, causes and coping strategies of speaking anxiety.  The analysis indicates a similarity of speaking anxiety level of the two languages, yet some major differences regarding the prominent causes occur. Keywords: Speaking anxiety; Arabic; English; Indonesian students
