Abstract

AbstractLubuk Siam lake is an oxbow lake that is located in the Siak Hulu sub-district, Kampar district. There were several human activities around the Lubuk Siam Lake such as agriculture and palm plantation. This study aims to understand zooplankton vertical distribution in that lake and it was conducted in February to March 2017. There were 3 stations, namely Station 1 (inlet area), Station 2 (fish cage area), and Station 3 (outlet area). In each station, there were 3 sampling points: at the surface, 2 secchi depth (126 cm) and 3 secchi depth (189 cm). Water samples were taken once/week for 3 weeks periode. Water quality parameters measured were: temperature, transparency, pH, nitrate, dissolved oxygen and free CO2 . Result shown that total abundance of zooplankton in station I: 945-1680 ind/L, Station II: 1365-2190 ind/L, and Station III: 1.230-2.085 ind/L. Water quality parameters measured were as follow : transparency 63 - 69 cm,  temperature  27.5 – 31.10C, pH 6.83 – 7.27, dissolved oxygen 4.0984 – 7.8399 mg/L, free CO2 5.296 – 15.981 mg/L, and nitrate 0.0694 – 0.1688 mg/L.Keywords: Lake, Lubuk Siam, Zooplankton

Abstract

This research was conducted in April 2017 which is located in Maninjau Lake Jorong Galapung Nagari Tanjung Sani, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency, West Sumatera Province. The purpose of this research is to know the characteristics of fish farmers, to know adaptation strategy conducted by fish farmers and to know the relationship of characteristics with fish farming strategy. The method used in this research is survey method. Respondent in this research is household of fish farmer counted 48 people.Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the characteristics of cultivators in terms of age belong to the old category (> 50 years), the characteristics of education are quite good, the characteristics of family dependents are small and the characteristics of the experience of cultivation are low. The adaptation strategies undertaken by the farmers are adaptation strategies for diversification of economic activities, mobilization of household members, utilizing social networks and work migration. Having seen the relationship between the characteristics of cultivators with adaptation strategies of fish farmers known age factor does not prevent respondents to keep looking for alternative jobs. On the characteristics of education, the strategies undertaken by respondents are not varied. The number of dependent respondents who on average in the small category did not make the respondent perform various adaptation strategies. While the experience long enough to be a cultivator does not prevent the cultivators to seek strategies outside cultivation. Keywords: Strategy, Adaptation, Lake Maninjau, Tubo Balerang

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was aimed to effect of addition of pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius) extract on carrageenan pudding and produce carrageen pudding which has the distinctive color and odor of Pandan leaves on the manufacture of carrageen pudding and to find out the exact concentration of Pandan extract in the manufacture of carrageen pudding. Based on the research, the effect of addition of pandanleavesextract on carrageen pudding gives the color and the peculiar odor of pandan leaves, very significant effect on organoleptic value, water value, ash value, and carbohydrate value. The treatments were treated with 4 treatment levels: P0 (without pandan extract), P1 (30 ml of pandan extract), P2 (35 ml of pandan extract), P3 (40 ml of pandan extract). The results of selected carrageen pudding was the addition 40 ml of pandan extract with value of appearance (very greenish) 8.41, taste (sweet) 7.24, aroma (very fragrant of pandan aroma) 7.88, texture (solid) 7. 53, and chemical values of water content 19.27%, ash content 3.31%, and carbohydrate content 33.99%. Keywords: Pandanus amaryllifolius, pudding, carrageen

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted on May-July 2017. The purpose of this research was to determine the utilization of fermented chicken feather meal on artificial feed barramundi and to obtain additional levels of the best feather meal in feed formulation barramundi fingerling, digestibility, growth, feed efficiency and protein retention. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) of the factors with 5 treatments and 3 replicated. The treatment in this study was the addition of fermented feather meal that is P1 (0%), P2 (5%), P3 (10%), P4 (15%), P5 (20%) in feed. Protein for feed test average was 45%. The results show that the best treatment material is P5 (20%). The use of 20% chicken feather meal fermentation to produce feed digestibility of 29,58%, feed efficiency of 20,86%, 25,47%protein retention and specific growth rate of 2,34%.Keywords: chicken feather meal, Bacillus sp., Fermentation, barramundi(Latescalcarifer, Bloch), artificial feed
