Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the relationship of procedural justice, university governance, job characteristic and job satisfaction with work motivation of the lecturers of Mulawarman University. This research used the method of a survey with a correlation technique and 132 lecturers were taken using a proportional sampling technique. The data were obtained by distributing a questionnaire and studying some documentation. The data were analyzed using correlation analysis, multiple and simple regression. The result of the research shows that (1) there is a positive relationship between procedural justice with work motivation, (2) there is a positive relationship between university governance with work     motivation, (3) there is a positive relationship between job characteristic with work motivation, (4) there is a positive relationship between job satisfaction with work motivation, and (5) there is a positive relationship of procedural justice, university governance, job characteristic, and job satisfaction simultaneously with work motivation. Therefore, to strengthen the work motivation of the lecturers of Mulawarman University, the procedural justice and university governance should be carried out appropriately and professionally, and the job characteristics and job satisfaction should be taken into a serious concern.Keywords: job characteristic and job  satisfaction and work motivation

Abstract

The objective of this research is to study the effect of emotional intelligence, organizational commitment, and achievement motivation on individual decision making. The research was conducted at the Department of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta. It was using an ex post facto method. The samples of this reasearch were 80 personnel of the Department of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia that selected randomly. The research findings are: (1) there is an effect of emotional intelligence on individual decision making; (2) there is an effect of organizational commitment on individual decision making; (3) there is an effect of achievement motivation on individual decision making; (4) there is an interaction between emotional intelligence and organizational commitment; and (5) there is an interaction between organizational commitment and achievement motivation. Based on these findings, it could be concluded that individual decision making is affected by emotional intelligence, organizational commitment and achievement motivation. Therefore, the emotional intelligence, organizational commitment, and achievement motivation should be taken into consideration in determining individual decision making.Keywords: emotional intelligence, organizational commitment, and achievement motivation and decision making.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the effects of Leadership behavior, and employee’s Cognitive ability, on employee’s Job satisfaction and Performance, and direct effect of employee’s Job Satisfaction on employee’s Performance. The Yogyakarta Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) permitted the research to be carried out at its Yogyakarta Branch (Balai BesarPengawas Obat dan Makanan DIY), in 2010, with a sample size of 55 employees selected randomly out of total population of 112. Data obtained were analyzed by Path analysis, after the variables placed in a correlation matrix. The results showed that 1) Leadership behavior had both direct effect on employee’s Job satisfaction, and Performance, 2) Employee’s Cognitive ability had a direct effect on employee’s Performance, but had no effect on employee’s Job Satisfaction 3) Employee’s Job Satisfaction had no effect on employee’s Performance. The results of this research showed that Leadership behavior and Cognitive ability were the most important determinants that could be used to improve employee’s Job satisfaction, and Performance, through education and training program.Key words: Leadership behavior, Cognitive ability, Job satisfaction, Performance, Employee, Food and Drug Control.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the capacity of Bengkulu University in improving performance quality, relevance, and competitive power through its policies. The data consist of the policies effective in Bengkulu University from 2006 to 2008. The findings indicate (1) consistency between the National policies and the policies of Bengkulu University in regard to competitiveness, decentralization, autonomy, and health of the organization; (2) improved quality, relevance, competitiveness and image of Bengkulu University in economic activities, enterprise and working atmosphere; (3) improved capacity of Bengkulu University’s governance in competition with other universities in Indonesia. The study shows the functioning of market segmentation strategy, targeting strategy, positioning strategy, differentiation, focus and efficiency as the competitive power of Bengkulu University. This confirms the importance of applying a total quality management system for enhanced quality, relevance, and competitiveness of a higher educational institution.Key words: Quality, Relevancy, and Competitiveness

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the relationships between change management knowledge, self image motivation and the working climate with the work effectivity of the secretariat staff of public hospital in Jakarta. The method used was the survay with random sampling of 92 respondents from 5 hospitals. The results showed that there is a positive and significant correlation between the change management knowledge, self image motivation and the working climate with the work effectivity of the staff of public hospital. Also a significant and positive correlations were found between those 3 factors and the work effectivity. The results suggest that the mentioned factors should be considered in impovement of the work effectivity.Keywords: Work effectivity, public hospital, change management, selfimage motivation, work climate.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to study comprehensively the effect of responsibility profession, knowledge of economics material learning, and achievement motivation on organizational commitment. The research was conducted at State Senior High School Jakarta, and 57 samples were selected by using simple random sampling. The data were collected, by using questionnaires concerning four variables, and they are were analyzed in Path Analysis. The data analysis indicates that (1) organizational commitment was directly affected by responsibility profession, (2) organizational commitment was directly affected by knowledge of economics material learning, (3) organizational commitment was directly affected by achievement motivation, (4) achievement motivation was directly affected by responsibility profession, (5) achievement votivation was directly affected by knowledge of economics material learning. The result lead to recommendation, all of education authorities, the management of school, and especially economics teacher to give full support to increase responsibility profession, knowledge of economics material learning, and achievement motivation.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of controlling, organization structure, integration, innovation on competitive advantage lecturers. This research used quantitative approach with survey method and structural equation model (SEM).The data of 5 variables were analysed by path analysis techniques. Research result showed that: (1) there is a direct positive effect of the innovation on the competitive advantage lecturers, (2) there is a direct positive effect of the integration of the competitive advantage lecturers, (3) there is a direct positive effect on the integration on the innovation, (4) there is a direct positive effect of the organizational structure on the competitive advantage lecturers, (5) there is a direct positive effect of the organizational structure on the innovation, (6) there is a direct positive effect of the organizational structure on the integration, (7) there is a direct positive effect of the controlling the competitive advantage lecturers, (8) there is a direct positive effect of the integration on the competitive advantage lecturer, (8) there is a direct positive effect of the controlling on the innovation, (9) there is a direct positive effect on the controlling of the integration, (10) there is a direct positive effect of the controlling on the competitive advantage lecturers. The results of the analysis descriptive competitive advantage lecturers very high and controlling, organization structure, innovation to make continouns improvement.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to obtain information concerning the effect of perceived organizational support, team characteristics and quality of work life toward employee organizational commitment at the State University of Jakarta by using a survey method with path analysis applied in testing hypothesis. It involved 64 employee at the State University of Jakarta as respondent who were selected by simple random sampling. This research findings were as follows (1) there was a direct effect of perceived organizational support toward organizational commitment, (2) there was a direct effect of team characteristics toward organizational commitment, (3) there was a direct effect of quality of work life toward organizational commitment, (4) there was a direct effect of perceived organizational support toward quality of work life, (5) there was a direct effect of team characteristics toward quality of work life. Therefore, organizational commitment could be improving by rising the effect of perceived organizational support, team characteriqtics and quality of work life.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to understand comprehensively the performance management evaluation of STTBI. The research itself use the national standards for the higher education evaluation, such as vision and strategy standard; leadership and total quality management standard; outcomes quality standard; human resources standard; curriculum and academic environment standard; funding, some supports, and information system standard; finally, research, community responsibility, and cooperation standard. The researcher used one method evaluation to value the performance management of STTBI through to translation the standards above to some perspectives in balanced scorecard. The balanced scorecard contains some perspectives such as vision and strategy, financial, customer, internal business process, and learning and growth perspective. The approach of this research uses goal oriented based or objectives oriented approach and qualitative method used as well. The conclusions and recommendation such as STTBI have to do the re-formulate the vision statement in order to focus the organization purpose; all activities sort of the student enrollment, financial, recruitment policy, and etc. must be documented in standard operational procedures; in the business process internal will be divided by five criteria such as design, develop, maintain, and regulation; STTBI has to update and upgrade the human resource recruitment system in order to find and get the best person (lecturer); and to make a balance in the sustainability in finance, the STTBI has to open to find other strategic business unit opportunity.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to get about the effect of work culture, pedagogic competence and work commitment toward task performance at teacher vocational high school Bandar Lampung. The research was conducted using survey method with quantitative approach. The reach population in this research is 510 at teacher vocational high school. Research sample were selected as mush as 84 teacher using proportional random sampling technique. The data obtained with questionnaires and analyzed using pasth analysis tecniques. The finding show that work culture, pedagogic competence and work comitment have positive direct effect toward tast performance. Work culture have positive direct effect toward work commitment, and pedagogic competence have positive direct effect toward work commitment.
