Abstract

This study was a qualitative descriptive research which aimed to describe the types of errors made by students of class of eleventh science 1 National Senior School 1 Maluku Tengah in solving the trigonometric function limit questions. Also, to determine the factors that cause students to make these mistakes and discover how remedial affects the error. The subjects of this study were students of eleventh science 1 National Senior School 1 Maluku Tengah. Student error data is obtained from the results of the diagnostic test answers identified into the types of errors. After that, four students were selected to be interviewed. Based on the results of data analysis and research results it can be concluded as follows: (1) The students' mistakes in solving the trigonometric function limit problems were errors using definitions or theorems and solutions that were not rechecked. (2) The factors that cause students done the limit of trigonometric functions task incorrectly are students have not mastered the prerequisite material, which plays an essential role in the process of understanding the concept of limit trigonometric functions. Such as the basic concepts of limit functions and trigonometry, students do not memorize basic trigonometric formulas. So that they find it challenging to work on questions; students do not understand the basic concepts of limit trigonometric functions. Students are confused when determining which part of the problem to change first or students are confused when describing questions. Students do not know what steps to use in solving math problems; the time used teachers in teaching in the classroom are too little so that students do not practice questions during the learning process in class. (3) After comparing the results of the diagnostic test and the student's remedial test, it can be seen that there is an increase in student learning outcomes on the subject of limit trigonometric functions.

Abstract

Tourism contributes much to the economy of Indonesia. As such, the government supports tourism development and encourages local governments to develop local potential, including rural tourism. Indonesia holds immense potential for rural tourism since the country has many villages with abundant resources for tourism. The development of tourist villages cannot be separated from rural tourism, an alternative for tourism in recent years amid the new trend of sustainable tourism. Tourists these days care much about environment conservation, community empowerment, and local culture. The development of tourist villages cannot be separated from the participation of the local community. However, problems arise in the development of tourist villages. Dusun Losawi also faces difficulties in developing itself as Kampung Dolanan. Although Kampung Dolanan has existed for four years, it has not benefited the local people. One solution to solve the problem is community empowerment through Community-Based Tourism (CBT). As a first step to identify the issues and formulate solutions in Kampung Dolanan, the community service team conducted field surveys and FGDs with Pokdarwis. The results were solutions in three main areas: (1) human resources—improvement of human resource quality through mindset training and comparative studies; (2) infrastructure sector—improvement through landmark construction, traditional toys provision, and land rental assistance; and (3) marketing communication—improvement through photography training, social media communication training, rural tourism marketing, and brand management. The activities carried out in the current program of Doktor Mengabdi were field surveys, FGDs, program proposals, mindset training, traditional toys provision, and preparation for other activities in September 2020.

Abstract

Sistem Penjaminan Mutu Internal (SPMI) or the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) in three private universities in Samarinda has been implemented using Perencanaan, Pelaksanaan, Evaluasi, Pengendalian, dan Peningkatan (PPEPP) or Planning, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement, including evaluating control and improvement of Higher Education standards. This study was conducted with the following objectives. First, it described the implementation of IQA in evaluating control and improvement of higher education standards in three private universities in Samarinda. Second, it explained the inhibiting factors and proposed possible solutions. The data of this qualitative study were collected through (1) in-depth interviews, (2) observations, (3) photographs, and (4) documentation. The data went through interactive transformation data analysis proposed by Miles and Huberman (1994), including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The validity of the data included data credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. Findings confirmed the followings. First, the implementation of IQA was not yet optimal in evaluating control and improvement of the higher education standards as mentioned in the ministerial regulation of the Research, Technology, and Higher Education Ministry Number 62 of 2016 Article 5 Paragraph 1 and Number 44 of 2015 concerning the National Higher Education Standards. Second, the inhibiting factor was related to the inadequate management of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and follow-up plans for internal quality audits, outputs, and achievements. The solutions proposed in this study included conducting follow-up plans and improving the learning process SOP, the lesson planning SOP, class schedule, and learning outcomes. Essential documents should always be made available, including semester program documents, Satuan Acara Perkuliahan (SAP) or Course Units, and lecturing schedules to achieve sustainable quality improvement in three private universities in Samarinda.

Abstract

Students in vocational high school mostly not acknowledge English language well because they are only focused in learning about the major material. In other words, while vocational high school students are learning English particularly in speaking skill there is an issue followed in acquiring the language which is speaking anxiety. Students feel anxious in speaking for the reason such as motivation and environment which make it difficult to comprehend it. This study aims at finding out the extent between classroom environment and students motivation towards speaking anxiety of vocational high school students using correlation method to discover the relationship. The subjects of this study were 105 students of first grade of beauty, culinary art major and second grade of design maker, design fashion in SMKN 3 Malang. The method of this study was quantitative with partial correlation design. This study used three kinds of questionnaire as the research instruments which are Public Speaking Class Anxiety Scale (PSCAS), Attitude/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB) and Students Satisfaction of Classroom Environment (SSCE). The collected date would be analysed using Pearson Product Moment in SPSS. This study revealed that the correlation between classroom environment and speaking anxiety is 0.172  and the significance value is 0.0089 < 0,05 that can be interpreted as positive correlation but it is very weak correlation, the correlation between motivation and speaking anxiety is - 0.139 and the significance value is 0.0170 > 0,05 that can interpreted as a negative correlation or no correlation at all.  It is shown that the correlation between classroom environment (X1) and students motivation (X2) towards speaking anxiety (Y) is rejected or there is o correlation among variables. However, the correlataion between classroom environment and motivation os 0.289 with significance value 0.003<0,05 which means weak correlation. It can be assumed that classroom environment and motivation are not really associated with students speaking anxiety.

Abstract

Internationalization has been promoted in many universities worldwide to improve education management, students, and alumni within the dynamic era of globalization. Universitas Brawijaya (UB), as one of the leading universities in Indonesia, is also implementing the internationalization strategy to realize the mission and vision as a World Class Entrepreneurial University. One of the efforts in the internationalization strategy is the “3 in One” Program that involves visiting professors from foreign countries, practitioner-lecturers, and internal lecturers in the implementation of education, research, and community service. This study aimed to evaluate the implementation of the “3 in One” Program in UB by emphasizing students’ perspectives as service users of university services or UB services. The study was qualitative using a survey method. The population was all students in study programs that have joined the “3 in One” Program. Samples were chosen using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire adapted from Student Evaluation of Educational Quality (SEEQ) and semi-structured interviews. Findings showed that 212 respondents (87.6%) knew that the “3 in One” Program involved a visiting professor, a practitioner-lecture, and a lecture from UB. It is expected that UB could improve its socialization of the concept of the “3 in One” program within the study programs or UB’s lecturers and to students. The study programs are expected to have better preparations to minimize language barriers in the “3 in One” Program. The study programs and the university are also encouraged to conduct regular evaluations on the “3 in One” Program.
